Bought the BU-120 yesterday at Circuit City for $399. Like the new sound and headaches and stomach aches it provides. Really hate the price paid compared to others posted here. Dislike the humming and inability to turn it off without unplugging. Can't believe Infinity does not provide any cables.

This is one of the best sub in this price, $175 delivered!!! For a casual listener like me I will not spend more than $200. Low and loud enough for most movies. You can get the best price at http://www.mercata.com under their Power Buys program.

Great sub for the money. In fact, it is the best sub for the money. Bass is as low as I want. I do not hear any humming from the amp like others have said. Lou, loud, loud. I live in a apartment and I hope that my neighbor has her pictures bolted down pretty good, because I am capable of knocking that stuff down with the greatest of ease. I only have it about an eighth of the way up on the volume. Infnity did a good job with this one. I will have more results for you later, because I just got it and I will have to listen to it some more. For now, it is just awesome! MONSTER BASS!

BU-120 is the best subwoofer for your money. Serval happy folks in this forum bought it from www.mercata.com for $172 delivered, however they are out of stock now. The sales lady told me that if there is enough request of this product; they will stock it again. I have also check with the Harmon Kardon Outlet Store. They are selling the BU-2 for $200 (only 100 watts vs. 150 watts for the BU-120). For under $200, BU-120 deserves a 5 stars.

I bought this like a week ago, it's allright, didn't impress me really, but for 150, I guess it shouldn't.I was just wondering, I have overture 3's for fronts, and when they're on, the light turns green, but on the sub light stays red when it's on, so is the light supposed to stay red?

Strength:

strong bass, fairly low, compact size

Weakness:

a bit muddy;and a barely audible (when room is quiet) but constant, annoying hum!

I have lived with the BU 120 for about 2 months now. My review echos the experience of several others. It is a very good value, and it turns in some impressive bass, especially if you spend some time tweaking the adjustments. It is very good for Home Theater, but only so - so for music, as I find it a little muddy, the transient response just isn't there, but the power and volume IS. My front speakers, (here's a history quiz...)Fried Model R's, were already pretty good down low & extremely tight, so the Infinity had to go some to compare.
I DID return the first one because the hum (mentioned by several others) was more than I could bear! The folks at Infinity assured me that there must be something wrong with the original unit. The dealer also contended that they had not received "hum" complaints. The second unit was much better, BUT it still hums although very quietly! When music or movies are on this quickly fades into oblivion. My solution ... unplug it when not in use! When I get around to it I'll put a switch in the line cord. Seriously, though Infinity should be ashamed of itself for allowing a unit into production with that telltale 60 cycle hum, no matter how low a level it is, or how "inexpensive" the price! (especially in light of how many others have the same hum - this is hardly an isolated problem) If I had paid the premium price commanded by many other subs, I would NEVER have put up with it. All in all a good buy and a great HT experience.
By the way, in answer to another question about the green/red LED & power down mode. Infinity told me that the LED goes from green to red (or was it red to green) after a period of time with no audio signal, putting the amp into "standby" mode, but not actually shutting it off. The only real "power off" solution, which they agreed was a good idea, was to install a line switch, which, given the hum, kills two birds with one stone.

Strength:

Excellent sub for the price range - easily concealable and great bass performance.

Weakness:

Not as deep or clear as some of the more expensive units and possible problems with a 60hz hum.

After extensive research, I decided to purchase this sub to complement my Infinity Minuette satellites. As I live in a small apartment I can't really crank it out too loud but I wanted a unit that still provided adequate bass punch especially for the DTS DVDs that I tend to watch.

Although I only compared it to similar units in this price range, I felt that the Infinity offered the best combination of price, appearance and performance among other products in its class.

Strength:

Awesome price!

Weakness:

Low level hum.

I bought this guy from Mercata using the $50.00 promotion - paid approx. $167 shipped. For this price, it was easy to convince the wife to let me buy the darned thing. I have only used it with movies and so far I am extremely pleased. Both my DVDs and VHS tapes have a new dimension that I had not tapped into before.

got it for 160$ delivered from mercata.com
amazing deal. at 50 lbs with free shipping how do they make any money on this?
it has a great adjustable crossover that seemed to work really well with my mains..... (they supposedly go down to 35 hz or so but don't believe it....) i set the crossover around 70 after experimenting.
not too boomy, just right imho, can't wait to get it hooked up to the sony db receiver i am getting next week... right now i have it hooked to my trusty old hk avr40.
the hum that some have reported for this sub is not there in mine.... no hum at all when not in use.....
have it hooked up to an x10 module that i use to shut it off when not in use.... works great.....
keep an eye out at mercata if you havn't used the free 50$ they give at sign up.... tho they posted this sub again a few days later they had it up at 100$ more than mine started at...so......
