I've had those babies for 6-7 monthes now, and all I can say is,I'm very impressed! When I first hooked them up, they sounded better than Bose 201 on hight, and bottom range. But, middle range sounded less impressive. |

Strength:
Bass/midrange, good quality, home theater
Weakness:
highs, non-removable grilles, music My friend has had these speakers for about 6 months and I have had a lot of time to listen to them at his house. The speakers are nice looking, but the grilles can't come of, which is kinda dissapointing. My friend's HT setup includes four of these, a Paradigm center, and a PS1000 subwoofer. The speakers are oddly arranged, with one front directly to the listener's left, and one rear to the right. The other rear is behind and the other front is to the front/right. These speakers sound fantastic in home theater use, even using his VCR and not dolby digital. We've watched star wars, lost world, men in black, etc. using these speakers and i have found them to work great for this use (the sub is great also). But when it comes to music, these sound not much better than my aiwa minisystem :(. The instruments are clumped together. The sound is muffled and unclear, and the high range is clangy and tinny. Overall, these speakers are great when it comes to home theater, but their stereo sound isn't nearly as good. (btw, the reciever is a DD/DTS Yamaha w/ 70wpc). |

This is the best speaker for the money. I have been spending my weekends listening to all sorts of speakers for the last 6 months. Other than the huge 170hz hump in the frequency response, I still can't find a better sounding speaker. You can find a Consumer Reports (don't trust their rating recommendations)from couple years ago that shows the frequency response. It is +-1db from about 200hz to 20khz. Spend some money on an equalizer for the hump and a good subwoofer for the bottom end. The only thing that pisses me off is that it doesn't come shielded in the rosenut finish. |

Strength:
Accuracy, clearness, volume, bass
Weakness:
None I got these babies from one of my friends about a week ago because he is moving. He was selling these, a Model 88 tabletop radio, a Pioneer receiver (so-so), and a Sony diskman for only...get this...$50!!!! WOW!!! I had to take him up on that!!! Anyways...he has owned them for probably about 9-10 months. I could never fully appriciate these gems until I get them set up in my own home. Man, that $50 is getting smaller and smaller! Strength:
You name it, it's got it!
Weakness:
None that comes to mind for a bookshelf. I love these speakers. I purchased them for about US $210 which isn't too bad. I haven't bought speaker stands for them yet but they still sound great where they are now (don't ask!). Excellent highs but not too bright. It has nice tight bass to compliment my music taste but I'm still gonna experiment with its placement (especially when I get my stands) for improved imaging. Vaulted ceilings in your room don't help as well! Similar Products Used: Bose |

Strength:
Produces great vocals, horns. Lower Bass than expected...
Weakness:
Soundstage limited to between the speakers... not much imaging in front or back. I just got these speakers about a year ago. I have just recently bought a B&K PT3 preamp, ST1200 series 2 amp, and a Yamaha CDC 575. All tied together with MIT interconnects. I cannot get over how they sound! BB's vocals have such energy I end up listening to some of the same songs over and over again. Set up correctly these will give you a detailed soundstage that will set the musician in the middle, but remains in a line with the rest of the band. But, for the price, I'm happy. Strength:
Tight bass and plenty loud
Weakness:
Styling I just got these yesterday. I've recently started to look for a decent home theatre System, I went to a high end dealer and found these for a paltry $135. I demoed the Studio 20 and these head to head and found the sound quality very close. The highs are not as crisp and the soundstage is somewhat small but for a smaller sized romm these would be perfect. These speakers are capable of lows that defy their size. Strength:
substantial bass output for its size, efficient, excellent off axis response, great value
Weakness:
definitely audible position sensitive mid-bass chubbiness for those who find it objectionable i like my titan v.2's a lot... originally had it in a 10*10 room but the titans didn't seem to be at their best there, now in a 15*35 room they sound much more at home... finally getting some decent imaging along with great warm full pretty clean sound... definitely needs speaker stands though and i added little vinyl half sphere feet to the bottom of the titans which seemed to help... placement can be tricky to optimize the bass response but a little patient experimentation after reading the manual should find a balance which you personally like... just remember that the flip side to speaker placement is listener positioning and move your self around a bit too... overall hard to imagine a better sounding speaker for the price and size combination... i even like its looks! :) Similar Products Used: paradigm atom- far less bass given its much smaller size but overall a sweeter sounding speaker than the titans |

Strength:
I have not heard any speaker at this price perform better.
Weakness:
none for the price. Sit down and just listen to the music these little speakers put out. Set aside the fact that you can't remove the front grilles and stop trying to sort out how the bass, treble or mid range sound and just listen to the music. I think that you'll find that these little guys sound pretty darn good for under $260 cdn(if they sound muffled and unclear you have a weak link somewhere). At this price do you really use a microscope? anyway. I believe all that matters is that you enjoy the sound and that they'll give you years of listing pleasure (factory warranty is 5 years parts and labour wow!!!). Set them up with a small sub if bass is really important to you (a must for home theater). I use them as rears with a 10" sub.(I sometimes bring them to to front just to listen to them) Similar Products Used: studio 100 ver.2, studio 80 ver.2 |

Strength:
plays loud.
Weakness:
Needs a crossover to sound good. I had these speakers for 4 years now, and they still exist for now with in the main channels of my hometheater system. The paradigm Titan speakers are very good but can be improved to great heights when these babies are high passed filtered with a subwoofer. The Titans can sound boxy, bloated and inaccurate by itself without highpass filtering, and I am sure many of yous will find the same deficiencies. With high pass filtering, these babies sound fast, tight, accruate and damn good. it's like buying new speakers. I read a few reviews here about the Titans, and many claimed the Titans did sound bloated in the midbass. If you are one of those people, I want you to buy a good paradigm X over crossover and liten again to these speakers, plus post another review on your listening with the Titans with a crossover. Since these speakers need high pass filtering I would not recommend these babies for serious listening without it. Due to the fact taht these speakers need high pass filtering to sound damn good, I will take off one mark for that. |
