Strength:

They look nice

Weakness:

They sound horrible after a few hours

I finaly thought I found a good deal, only to find out I got ripped off. Like everyone else said, dont buy them no matter how low the price is. They arn' worth it unless you happen to like the sound of a blown speaker.
By the way, I'm positive that the other few people who gave a 4 or 5 star review for these junk speakers are the same people who are trying to sell them. Dont believe a word of their review and STAY AWAY FROM THE WHITE VAN!

Strength:

never buy anything from the back of a truck, lesson learned. Now we can try and warn everyone!!! I am starting an email chain. I encourage others to do the same.

Weakness:

They are really bad. My fiance tried to convince himself it was his old amp. He was in denial that he got suckered.

Hey guys this is a real scam to watch out for and save your money I never thought I would be starting one of these email forwards but then again I never thought I would be scammed this bad.

Well any way the scam to watch out for is do not buy MTS Millenium home theater speaker system from the back of a white van from smooth talking kids or anyone for that matter. The brand does not even exist!! If you see them get they're plate number and call the cops immediately. These people will be soliciting you from the back of a van in most likely a home depot or other shopping center. They will tell you they have excess inventory and have to get rid of it. They will show you a very nice brochure that says the speakers retail for 1,500 each and that they are used in all the bars in NYC or most likely any city you live near. The speakers look very nice on the outside but when you play them they suck and will most likely burst at high volumes. We just thought it was the amp but when we tried to resell them in the newspaper someone interested in buying did some research and found all these bad reviews on audioreview.com, everyone bought these speakers out of the back of a white van from smooth talking kids.

That explains why my fiance was offered them two times buy two different vans and different kids, and why I saw another van an hour a way in another shopping center being harrassed by the cops. Too bad my fiance was suckered twice by these a##h**les I could have got a nice present for $600 bucks!

Performance

Well knowing you were dupped is half the battle. I will however follow the refund instructions as well as turn it over to an attorney. Fortunatly I had the money to give away.
I have not really had a problem with the speaker blowing out, but it is surely not as advertised. Liquid cooled my butt. I could have built these from particle board and old 8' speakers for about $45.00.
If you paid $75.00 ok, but anything else, what a waste. I am an adult about it and realize if nothing else I will hook them up to my kids tv for as long as they last.
Be carefull when the guys in the white van find you. Just say thanks but no thanks.

same as above

Ok, Just like anyone else on this site i bought the damn speakers. I payed $200 and to be honest i'm not to disapointed. Granted i dont know anything about speakers or quality sounds since this are my first speakers they dont sound half bad.
I think the people that are pissed are the people that paied $500 up. I live in LA so just like someone said in thier post speakers out of a van are not a strange thing, They looked all right and the price was right. for the money i payed they are well worth it so far...

the best damn bass output ever

Weakness:

none----well the supper tweet blows easily and hard to replace

I am using the MTS 2012 with a Technics AV control reciever SA-EX300 and love it. Sound quality out of the MTS are of like no other. With the Technics Dolby Prologic Surround sound, the MTs's make home video watching like the movie theaters. Also using KLH 5 disc CD changer. All in all this setup with the MTS make it all worth the money!

Make for good rear speakers but play em too loud, and you're outta luck!! Casing is nice!!

Weakness:

Quality sucks!!

HAHA!! I pulled into the McDonald's parking lot for lunch and these guys in a white van told me they had a cool story to tell me. They said that there order got screwed up and they had some extra speakers on the truck. The thugs showed me the brochure of the speakers and quoted them at $1200 each. I told the guy I didn't have that kinda money lying around and after about 10 minutes of blabbing, he had me hooked. I thought I got a deal paying $800 for the pair. I knew little about the quality of the speakers but after getting back to work and doing some research, I found all these stories about the guys in the white van. This is the biggest scam in the world. At least it makes me feel good that I'm not the only dumb dumb falling for these morons. BEWARE OF THE WHITE VAN!!!! I wish I had written down the plate number cause if I did, I bust these thugs!!

BETTER, COMPARED TO MY OLD BOSE,POLK TOWERS AND POLK PASSIVE SUB AND SATELLITE SPEAKERS W/ A PARAGON CENTER CHANNEL,

I'VE LIVED IN L.A. MOST OF MY LIFE; SO SPEAKERS OUT OF A VAN WERE NO SUPRISE TO ME.

I HAD MY SPEAKERS FOR LONG TIME, PIECING A MIXED MATCH SYSTEM TOGETHER, I RAN INTO THESE GUYS IN A HOME DEPOT PARKING LOT WITH "EXTRAS" AND THEY NEED TO SELL THEM FAST. THEY GAVE ME THE STORY AND I TOLD YEAH, YEAH, SAVE THE PITCH, I WOULD BUY, GRANTED THEY WENT TO MY HOUSE AND HOOK THEM UP NEXT TO MY BOSE AND POLK TOWERS AND THEY SOUNDED BETTER. I HAD JUST BOUGHT A NEW SONY 635 RECIEVER 100 WATTS PER W/ ALL THE PRO-LOGIC BELLS AND WHISTLES AND I WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW SPEAKER SYSTEM FOR MY NEW HOUSE.

THE TWO IN THE VAN SEEMED LIKE NICE GUYS SO I BROUGHT THEM TO MY HOUSE AND WE DISCONNECTD MY OLD SPEAKERS AND HOOKED UP THE BIG TOWERS, THEY SMOKED MY BOSE THEN WE HOOKED UP THE TOWERS AGAINST MY POLKS ONCE AGAIN THE MILLENNIUM SPEAKERS SOUNDED BETTER.

HOWEVER I USE MY POLK SUB AND SATS IN MY LIVINGROOM ON THE MAIN SYSTEM AND I HOOKED THE MILLENNIUM SUB AND SAT TO MY TV IN THE BEDROOM.

THEY WANTED $2000 FOR THE FOUR TOWERS AND THE SUB WOOFER SATELLITE SYSTEM ( I GUESS THEY LOOK FOR GUYS WHO LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE MONEY )I OFFERED A $1000 WE HAGGLED AND AGREED ON $1200.

THEY GAVE ME A RECEIPT WHICH I CALLED THE COMPANY AND SOMEONE ANSWERD THE PHONE. I ASKED FOR THE ADDRESS AND HE GAVE ME THE ONE ON THE RECEIPT WHICH I HAD GOTTEN A YEAR AGO.

SEEMS I PAID MORE THAN MOST, BUT I GOT WHAT I WANTED. A NEW COMPLETE MATCHING SURROUND SYSTEM THAT LOOKS AND SOUNDS GREAT. PLUS THEY HOOKED THEM UP.

THE WAY I CAME TO THIS WED SIGHT IS A FRIEND OF MINE JUST TOLD ME ALMOST THE SAME STORY AND SHOWED ME HIS SPEAKERS, SO WE DECIDED TO DO RESEARCH ON THE PRODUCT, HOWEVER HE HAD BOUGHT SOME SPEAKERS THAT WERE DIFFERENT STYLE THAN MINE (SMALLER?)

MOST OF WHAT I READ IN THESE CAPTIONS IS BITTERNESS BECAUSE MOST OF YOU SAY YOU BOUGHT SOMETHING GOOD AND READ THESE CAPTIONS AND FOUND OUT YOU WERE RIPPED OFF OR DECEIVED AND NOW YOUR PISSED.

DON'T FORGET YOU WERE THE ONE WHO MADE THE DECISION TO RIP OF THE SO CALLED COMPANY AND BUY THE "EXTRA" PRODUCT OFF THE VAN. SO YOU WERE RIPPING SOME ONE OFF YOUSELF!

EXCEPT IT.

I'M NOT STANDING UP FOR WHAT THESE GUYS DO, BUT I'M NOT STUPID I KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING AND I KNEW THEY WEREN'T EXTRAS, I COMPARED THEM TO WHAT I HAD AND THEY WERE BETTER.

IF I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT A POLK TOWER OR A ENERGY TOWER SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM, COMPLETE, I WOULD HAVE PAID 5 TO 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

FOR $1200 I SAVED MONEY AND WENT ON A VACATION WITH MY WIFE.

STOP CRY'IN YOU DID WHAT YOU DID AND KNOW YOUR SOME GOOD PERSON TRY'IN TO SAVE TO WORLD. GET OVER IT! AND ENJOY!

Strength:

The legality of the scam. The humorous article that Hometheater Magazine (will be on their site most likely April 15, www.hometheatermag.com) did in their April 2001 issue.

Weakness:

It's attempt to play sound accurately, lack of build quality, cheap appearance, and the way they tarnish the names of actual speakers by proxy.

I was doing my normal rounds of trying/hoping to find either a good stand alone amp or pre-amp for a bargain price when to my surprise I came across these speakers (they were asking $150 which to me indicates they bought it for about 15-30 pawn ticket). These speakers look even worse live than some of the pictures I've seen online as they appear in between the ultra cheap carpet box speakers in texture and about similar to the KLH 9915 in size. I knew I had to hear these speakers because as bad as these speakers appearance appears as a whole, lightness of the cabinet (not including the failed cabinet rap test, and this is a carpetted exterior), and mostly just pure curiosity (can they really sound as bad as most people claim?).

The gear used was a Carver 500, Carver pre-amp, Denon CD player 360, and some unmarked 12g speaker wires that fitted very tightly in the Milleum's spring clips. The only way I could convince the store owner to hook it up to this particular model was due to an interest in the amp and his lack of more appropriate home speakers (he only had mini-systems but was trying to convince me to use the car woofer boxes for demo speakers). The main that bugged me about picking up this speaker to hook it up and position it near the amp was the fact that there was a noticible sag of the cabinet when it was picked up due to the lack of cross-bracing (even Bose don't show this, and I think I have actually found a speaker with an inferior build quality to Bose.

At low volumes this speaker sounds almost identical to speakers found in most mini-systems mostly poor tonal quality, lack of deep bass, an exaggeration of midbass, and harsh mids/highs. The speaker compressed in proportion to volume (in other words, as you raise the volume overall sound compressed telling me that this had both very poor drivers and a very bad cross-over design most likely something that is inline with the tweeter and woofer to filter bass). The way this compressed on some of the dynamics of generic classical music CDs indicates to me that this thing wouldn't cut it for anything harder than gospel and could never do a hometheater justice.

I would advise almost anyone to buy used speakers at a garage sale, buy RS drivers/cross-overs (the really cheap ones), and assemble them together before even considering these speakers. Even without consulting T/S, matching drivers, or optimal cross-overs much less a braced/sealed cabinet or adding the appropriate damping materials would show a person how just having a box with extraes could be called a speaker, but not really sound like even a budget one.

I have personally believed that either the Bose AM series or their VCS was the single worst speaker listening experience that I have ever heard from a non-blown speaker, until I heard these. Previous to the before mentioned I thought the Fisher 424 center/surrounds that came free with an AVR purchase was the worst listening experience I've had. If you decide you want these speakers then my advice is to not even to add an amp, AVR, or even a mini-system to power these as these will reinforce an old saying going something to the extent of "silence is golden".

Strength:

Everything is fine at low volumes

Weakness:

The bass is muffled at high volumes. The woofer doesn't make a clear cut hit and doesn't have the sound penetration of a high quality system

I would not complain at all if the system was only used for low to medium volumes. At high levels the woofer can't project a loud good quality sound that makes your heart stop for a couple beats. However, if I played it this loud I would be kicked out of my apartment for sure. These are not DJ speakers by any means but they are not all that bad.

The tweets and midrange is not as clear at high volumes either.

Got them off a guy in a blue van for $300 CAD each. Kind of expensive? maybe. I have a $175 CAD sub-woofer attached and that is all the volume I would ever need.
