A friend of mine bought a pair of 753's along with a couple of Cyrus amps and invited me over to et my opinion. Well... what could I say? I hadn't ever heard anything as good.
He wasn't as impressed and picked up a pair of 752's to compare against them. We toted all this gear around, a long with my Yamaha AX-900u, to several different locations and gave them both a thorough work out.

Ultimately, we both concurred that they were both, simply, different. Each handled music in it's unique manner, each being slightly better suited to prticular recording styles and productions. Basicaly the 753's were better, on average, for classical, male voice, and all my art-rock albums. The 752's were better at female voice, piano (very dependent on the recording and production, with these...) and acoustic guitar. By themselves I feel the 753's are the better of the two, but with an equally good subwoofer the 752's would be more complete and realistic.

So my friend decided on the 752's, and I (lucky me!) bought the 753's from him.
Now I need decent cable...

I have always been a fan of Mission Speakers, but the 753 Freedoms are the bomb. They are brilliantly detailed and transparent. The tremendous sound staging ability is what attracted me to these speakers. I have them hooked up to a Rotel pre-amp/power-amp setup.

Strength:

Incredible Mid-Range with the Sweetest Tweeter known to man

Weakness:

Needs a Very Powerful Amp to bring out the best in them

I used to Bi-wire them to an Arcam Alpha 1 (35 watt) with an Alpha 8 Power Amp (50 watt) and the mid-range sounded great but the bass was muddy and the tweeter a little harsh. When i upgraded to a Marantz 6000 KI, Rotel RA 971 mk2 (70 watt) with a Rotel RB 991 (200 watt) power amp the difference was stunning. The bass was corking, Agile yet Deep. The Mid-Range sparkled even more and the tweeter was very sweet. My music tastes are Metal, Rock and some Pop (Moby etc) so i wasn't expecting that much difference due to poor recordings but now my music sings almost magically. All in all i'd have to say that they are the best speakers known to man at that price if partnered with a powerful amp.

Strength:

Soundstage, depth of bass, clarity

Weakness:

need a beefy amp to truly shine; partnership with other equipment can produce very varied results

I have owned a pair of Mission 753's for over 5 years now and have found them to be nothing short of fantastic when used with a wide range of music. I use them bi-wired, and bi-amped with a pair of Rotel power amps which are bridged into mono - delivering 180watts per channel. And believe me it makes a big difference. This is one set of speakers where extra muscle can take their performance to a new level. The bass is deep and controlled (but experimentation with their proximity to walls is essential), the mid-range expressive and the overall sound beautifully rythmic. The soundstage in particular is effortlessly open and detail placed within it with great accuracy. They may well have been surpassed by newer rivals in the last few years but they still have a sound that thrills

I currently own these speakers and I think they are great.A very detailed sound, clear, good for booth hi-fi and home theater.

Like "What hi-fi" magazine wrote about them: "Huge sound; detailed, sweet and controlled.
Serious sound for (almost) sensible money".

I bought these speakers 3 months ago, and I must say they are suberb. If you're looking for a bassmeister supreme, you're best off looking
elsewhere, but if you want a superbly crafted musical allrounder at a very
reasonable price, look no further. They may not enthrall you on first
audition, but the longer you listen to them, the more you start to
appreciate them. Oh, and one more thing, spend the extra $150 and go
for the rosewood or oak finish, 'cause the black ash finish is rather
plain looking.

I recently purchased a pair of those, and its the best audio deal I have ever made . The sound is detailed and delicate with great flexibility. When listening to a vocal music the feeling is so divine that I felt I toched the sky.jazz music listeners will also find those loudspeakers as if they where sitting in a recording studio . If you are a freak for bass bombing You might consider using different loudspeakers. Wiring Hint : use the Bi-wiring method it gives wider rage of sounds.

Recently, I have been in search for a speaker set. I was trying to look for the best overall speaker for both music listening and home theater and at the best possible value. I have read many reviews about many different speakers here in audioreview.com. And now that I have finally purchased a new set of speakers, I feel that I must contribute something to audioreview.com. Please keep in mind that these are strictly my opinion. Please trust your ear (and watch your pocket) before you buy.
There are many speakers (perhaps too many speakers) out there and all of them seem to claim that theirs are the best. My old pair of speakers are American made (Infinity). So this time, I want something different. This time, I looked at European speakers, primarily British made. This is not to say that the American made is not good. But for the same given set of speakers, I can get better value for British speakers, at least in the country where I live.

In the last four or five months that I have been in search of a speaker set, I have auditioned different speakers at different price levels. This includes B&W CDM 7SE, Mission 753F, KEF Reference Model 2, NHT 2.5I, Boston Acoustics VR760, Dynaudio Audience 80, Dynaudio Contour 1.8MkII, Vienna Acoustics Mozart, Vienna Acoustics Haydn

The Mission 753 Freedom wasn't really on my list of speaker search. But when I saw these speakers, I say to myself I must listen to them. And it is worth listening to them. It would be disappointed not listening to these fine speakers. Other than the Bass, which I think is a little thin, the overall sound is quite impressive. Although the sound of Mission 753F may not be the best, given the price of Mission 753F, I say it is worth it .

Although Mission has the 77 Series for H/T, I think Mission 753F also performs very well in H/T setup. Perhaps, this is because I don't like the speakers playing too loud. I have two kids and their room is next too mine. I don't want to wake them up when I watch a movie.

This is a speaker worth considering. Considering the price, the built quality, value, and the sound, it is just above the threshold and I'll give them a 5!
