Strength:

versatility, clean high- and midband

Weakness:

requests strong amp, setup towards wall critical.

A while ago I moved back to my parents house for my workstudy. And the speakers had to go also. After the moving in and spending a couple of days moving the the speakers and listening I decided that the speakers where best placed 70cm from the wall and I concluded that the speakers are to big for my small bedroom (4m x 6m)" The bassrespons an stereo image was much better in my former house. But now I changed the cables to Profigold and turned the speakers more inwards the soundstage was much more statisfactory and the sound came alive. The lack of bass due to the placement off the walls is soon going to be solved by building a DIY adire shiva sub. The good thing about these speakers is that they sound pleasing with any kind of music. I especially like the midband and the forwarded highs. (I own the 753 with metal dome tweeters) You will need decent amp for these speakers otherwise they will sound dull and tend to have less dynamics. I drive them with an Onkyo M-502 pre-amped by a sansui au-7900 (soon to be replaced by a Marants 5300) For the price paid the speakers are a bargain and I'm a statisfied listener.

Strength:

detial, awesome at high volumes, very loud, detailed.

Weakness:

need lots of power, need the best to get the best from them.

very good speaker, mine are not the freedoms prefere mine to freedoms they sound more crisp and realistic in the treble dept. they are awesome at high volumes really hit the chest but they can become fatiguing and harsh if the wrong equipment used. they say the bass is light it not its tight. i would love to hear them with some top quality equipment so im only going to give them a 4 star.

Strength:

Good Midrange with a nice overall sweet sound

Weakness:

Not the last word in imaging and transparency

The Mission 753F is my first entry to hi end speaker and it has been a very nice experience. My comments are very consistent to the others below. It has a nice midrange and with the Krell300i, there is no lack of bass here I've tried it earlier with the Arcam 10 and there was a lack of bass, so a heavy duty amp is required for good bass.

But the Mission 753F does not have the last workd in imaging and transparency. That's is expected. Mission speakers are wall speaker and not free space. Wall speakers can be place close to the wall, but at the expense of imaging. This is where free space speakers have the advantage. Trying to place the Mission speakers will only cause it to sound thinner. But then trying to place free space speakers closer to the wall will sound boomy. That's the trade off.

I have since upgraded my speakers to ProAc 1S, but I still keep my Missions in my study room.

I recommend these speakers and I also demoed the B&W804N and I liked the Mission better -not to say the Mission is better, but it sounds better with my system.

Strength:

an all rounder, easy to drive

Weakness:

deep bass

The 753F signature is an outstanding speaker. I bought my pairs 3 years ago. At that time, they were hooked up with a aet of Muscial Fedility pre/power combo. The sound was dull and slow. Music produced seemed to be without life. After 9 months, I replaced the MF with the Audionote Kit One 300B SETA amplifer(9 Watts/channel), and the sound was transformed. The 753F just sings. Vocals are silky and the bite of the Saxophone returns. However, real deep bass below 50 Hz is simply absent.

BASS IS NOT DEEPLY EXTENDED WHEN NEEDED.

TYPICALLY BRITISH FLOOR MONITER -REVEALING OVERDAMPED LEAN SONIC CHARACTER. THESE PUPPIES WILL NOT TRULY ROCK.THEY WILL NOT ACHIEVE HIGH SPL,CROSSOVERS ARE LIGHT(NOT A BAD THING IN MY OPINION)HOWEVER WHEN DRIVEN HARD THEY GET VERY HOT AS IN YOUR INTERNAL DAMPING MATERIAL STARTS MELTING.I PERSONALLY DONT LIKE IT WHEN AUDIO GEAR STARTS SMOKING.ANYWAYS I HAVE 2 PAIR I LOVE-WHICH ARE FOR SALE ALONG WITH OTHER GEAR(MARANTZ,,DYNACO,PARADIGM,VANDERSTEEN,REGA,DENON,HK,MIRAGE,CARVER,THORENS,HAFLER,AR,BRYSTON,ESS,MCINTOSH AND MORE)IF AT ALL CURIOUS E-MAIL ROB.AUDIO@HOME.COM

I am happy to say that i own a pair of these BRILLIANT speakers. I use them with a Cyrus 3i and PSX-R (the cd player is not good but i am looking at a Cyrus Dad3).
I listen to almost all music; Dance, Pop, Classical, Rock, Love songs, Indy etc. These speakers sound just so sweet and controlled for all my music tastes and i REALLY love them. Whether I want nice quiet sensual music or if i feel like getting really 'hi' before i go on the town they do the job beautifully and i would recomend them to anyone, with any music taste *****!!!!!!
p.s just to make all you other 753f owners jealous i got mine in primavera, new, for just £570 (were £900)
Any comments or Q's feel free to e-mail me!!!!

Weakness:

no bone-jarring bass

I have 753's teamed with 100w Classe amp and pre. Good stuff. I Only listen to classical - mostly early music with small ensembles or solo instruments & a lot of voice. This music is very weighted to the treble range and these speakers bring it to life like magic. You don't so much hear the music as you feel it. And you feel the presence of the artist, the performer - it's almost eerie! You are very aware of fingers sliding down the coarse cat-gut, and can sense the different kinds of wood- I'm NOT kidding - of the violin makers. The early music sound is very intimate and penetrating. The vibrato playing of later eras is less intimate but conveyed by these speakers in no less "you are there" detail and presence. I have always considered boomy bass a gimmick and don't miss it a bit. Infact, it would be intrusive.
I can't say anything about contmporary music performance, there are plenty of those reviews. THESE ARE THE SPEAKERS FOR INTIMATE CLASSICAL MUSIC!

Strength:

bass-attack, sound generally

Weakness:

i don´t know...

first i must say, that these speakers aren´t the "freedoms".
i bought them for about 760 $ per pair (new) from the mission distributor here in austria three weeks ago and i used every free minute for listening to them: you can´t stop. my amp is the cyrus III and source is at the moment sony´s dvp-725 dvd-player. these components are doing a good job driving these speakers. i prefer listening to jean-michel jarre but also like sarah brightman, classics und nearly any kind of music. yesterday i listened to mr. oizo´s "flat beat": it goes right into your stomach!!!
these speakers have outperformend my sub (sony sw305) and when it comes to dolby digital they show what they can...
compared with the 774s their bass is a little bit stronger and i think they can play louder without any risk. i know it, because my brother owns them, driven by the new cyrus 7 with psx :-)

in conclusion i can say: if you´re a looking for british speakers, which can play music at live-levels and you´re looking for missions, buy these ones - you won´t worry!

valuerating comes from the price i payed.

overall rating: i would like to give them 10 stars...

Excellent. Increadible value for the money. Suprising clear deep bass. Smooth silky midrange and precise but realistic treble . Good depth and imagery. Best speaker I have heard in the price range by a healthy margin. Leans a little on the forward side so match accordingly.
