As a salesman for one of the largest and best equiped audio stores in Canada I was privy to some excellent equipment. I auditioned extensively for nearly 6 months covering speakers from Energy to Meridian, Kef to Martin Logan and decided on Mission. I wasn't sure if I wanted the 752F4 or the 753F4... I must confess, I'm susceptible to reviews and the opinions of others so I was leaning towards the highly touted 753 but just to be safe I bought both (perks of being a salesman). They each performed beautifully but....to my surprise I prefered the 752F4. It presented a wider, deeper soundstage, was more balanced in the mid bass region ( the 753's sounded boomy here ) and was more articulate...the 753's had moments of muddiness! The 753 excelled in presence, this is a rock solid musical experience, unfortunately too solid. I would love to see the Mission clan produce a 753 with the 'Aerogel' driver.... Just for reference I used a Cyrus Straightline to drive mains a Cyrus Power to drive tweeters, a Marantz CD63SE and Kimber silverhalf interconnects and 16TC speaker cable. Reference CD's : Dave Mattews-Beyond these crowded streets, Sarah Mclaughlan-Surfacing, Mike Garson-Oxnard sessions vol 2, and Sting-Mercury Falling to name but a few!I should note that a speaker I did not audition but have recently heard is the B&W CDM7SE...it blew me away but...I haven't heard it in my space with my gear but I'm looking forward to it! Feel free to email me if you have any comments, seems like a decent crowd on this site!

I suffered a lot from Mission 732i of its dull sound and lack of clarity. I found 751 exceptionally clear. When I came across 753 freedom signature I bought it without any hesitation. After six months of serious audition and comparison with products withing the same price range, I am sure they will be the speaker of choice of my next floor standers.

I've been experienced in many Speakers and currently using 753f with aura amps (Biamp/wire) and carver cd.As a cool and flat music lover I must say this is the Best Speaker I've ever had.(in $500-1000 range)I have set my music room (16'x12')with some flats, carpets and curtains It gives dynamic sound with little more volume. It's best when playing Rock music. Yes,.! the base response is little lower when comparing to other speakers., but, whoever interested in real flat music like me)this is the only answer. Even my one year old son use to sleep on my lap when I'm playing songs like "Black Magic Woman" or any one of "Dire Straits" with little high volume.

I upgraded to these speakers from the Mission 752, with each placed on a pair of my homemade isolation platforms, and biwired to my amps with twin runs of Audioquest Midnight 3. I find them very dynamic. The sound is big and powerful but they need to be placed at least 6 feet apart (best at 8 feet). Their imaging is not as good as the Mission 752 but they are tonally balanced. They are great for vocals. Their bass goes deeper with more room space. They sound better when played loud.

I am at the point of buying new speakers. The last couple of years I had a pair of Driade 9 speakers, which look superb, but the sound of it never really engaged me.
The CDM-7 SE's are high on my list, although I am also still considering other B&W's (P4/5; CDM-1 SE)
and even speakers from other manufacturers, like the
Dali 450/850,
Celestion A1/2,
Mission 753,
KEF Q55/65,
Castle Avon/Harlech,
Acoustic Energy 109/120,
Monitor Audio MA 70# PMC,
Ruark Acoustic Scepter
So, it's obvious I still have quite a lot of listening to do.

My amp and CD are from Harman/Kardon (6500 and 730, resp.) wired with Van Den Hul cables and interlink. At this moment the CDM-7 SE's have my preference but I don't know how they hook up with my amp and CD. Your experience on any of these speakers or suggestions are highly welcome.

I heard this speaker after I auditioned Snell E5, ProAC, Paradigm studio 60 and 100, monitor 700 and many others. It is definitely the best pair of speakers for classical music. It was very articulate, very clean, very rich, and very energetic. The imaging was also outstanding. The sound was very tight but not restrained. It does not have the strongest base or the spaciousness the Martin Logan had, but it does everything else wonderfully. The Monitor 700 was very clean also, but did not have the energy and richness. The paradigm studio 60 was a little muddy and the paradigm studio 100 was not rich enough( bright top, just try piano music, it gets a rather metallic sound). The Snells were very plesant to listen to, but did not have enough definition for me. Proac ( sorry I forgot the model number, they were around 1400, bookshelf speakers) were rich but not rich enough, clear, and energetic but it gets too tight, it's like an inferior version of the mission 753. The definitive speakers I heard were not precise enough for classical music. The B&W (sorry again, I can't remember the model number, they were around 1200) were a little too weak. I am quite impressed by the mission 753 speakers, I think I will buy them. If you like realistic instrumental and vocal sound, give them a try. You can get them for 1500 or so.

Strength:

detailed sound

Weakness:

none, according to some the bas, but with a good amplifier this is not a issue

With a powerful amplifier this is fantastic speaker, I use the Mission 753 not the freedom version.

I like to listen to modern metal and hardrock and with my amplifier the NAD c370 and the Marantz cd 600 KI it's a perfect combination. This speaker produces a very detailed and easy listning sound, and in my view the B&W is no competitive evn though the price is higher and the bass is better according to some of you I have to say I can't agree. Maybe it's because of my amplifier but the bass is pure and detailed in comparison to the B&W's is listened to, the bass of them is not as detailed and becomes with some double bass drums boomy, also the midrange is weak compared to the Mission's.

I can only say this speaker is far better than the 5 star I can offer for the price and value rating

Strength:

I like look, the finish and the sound (upwards of low-mid frequency)

Weakness:

lacking in bass, off-axis response not the best

I've got the model just before the 'freedom'. I believe the main difference is that mine has the metal film tweeter whilst the Freedoms have a fabric (?) one.

I think in common with most reviewers, I've found the lowest bass missing. However I've moved the speakers from their recommended 12in away from back wall to 9 inches and found that increases the bass but does remove depth of soundstage.

Haven't found the soundstage that startlingly good anyway. The real strengths in the sound, to me, are the smoothness in reproducing any music. Great on jazz, classical, vocal, rock.

A good all rounder. Haven't heard the Freedoms so haven't had a chance to compare the two.

Important point: Tighten the allen screws around the 4 main drivers every year at least. Does make a difference.

Other gear:
Phase Linear 200 srs 2 power amp (120w rms pc)
Passive pre-amp
STD 305 M with Rega arm and B+O MMC 20 CL stylus
Marantz CD60 special edition (not very special at all!)

Just replaced the amps with Denon AVR 2801. So far they sound great with this new amp. It's increased the warmth of the sound.

Strength:

Upper register and midband

Weakness:

None

It takes me three years to fully understand the real power of this discontinued speakers. Having moved into a new apartment with a bedroom having listening area 18'x12' and changed to cables from cheapy ones to Monster, the speakers started to sing.

I got a pair of the 753's close to when they first came out, about 7 years ago, and while they don't have much bass, as we all agree, they are the best sounding loud speaker I have ever heard. Add a sub if you want more bass but the 753's have the best hi's and mid's of any speaker out there.
