Strength:

Huge sound-spread, dynamic, attacking, THX, movie-mayhem
The last word in home theatre at the price.

Weakness:

Open wallet surgery!

Quite simply, these stormers are utterly ruthless in reproducing movie sound.
Terminator 2, Matrix, U571 & Gladiator sound quite murderous!...
Used with my Denon-AVC10SE, they're sumptuous.
In my very humble opinion, nobody...and i mean nobody, can match M&K when it comes to home theatre......
They are the daddy's!
I've heard their THX Ultra package too!.......if you haven't!, then get yourself an audition.....then remortgage your house to get 'em!
Big-up all M&K sound engineers.......

Strength:

accuracy, imaging, dynamics, full natural bass.

Weakness:

none for the price

I listened to many speaker before selecting these. When I brought them home I thought they were a bit on the bright side. I confused that with accuracy, and detail. But they have mellowed a bit into an excellent sounding system. Give them at least 10-15hrs of break in before judging them. 24 would be best.
It's necessary to read M&Ks recommendations on setup carefully and follow it as best you can. Also very helpful tech stuff available for reading on the website under 'support'.
Once you set them correctly the satellites blend in with the sub perfectly and on good material this system really rocks!
My receiver does not have DTS and the "Eagles:When Hell Freezes Over" is not in DD. So I played it in stereo with the receiver set for DSP Mode (-Dance-). It was fantastic!
A great test recording by the way. An excellent one to take with you when auditioning speakers.
Anyway, this is a super system for the price. For the audiophile that also likes movies, but is on a somewhat limited budget, will be very happy.
For the rest of us, this is a cut above anything I found below $3000.

Strength:

Small and powerful

Weakness:

No Bi Wire Option

Excellent speakers if you have limited space to work with. Sound quality and imaging is precise. Bass response is better than expected due to the size of the drivers. Also purchase the 750 center which is currently reaking havoc on my monitor. Doesn't work well on top of the monitor. 200 watts rms @ 4 ohm's tells the tale of this little bad boy. Good bang for the buck with the LCR's at about a grand. You get what you pay for. Have a rice day.

Strength:

Highly accurate, detailed, wide sound field. Dialouge and vocals are crystal clear. 10 year warranty!

Weakness:

Recommend receiver with at least 100 watts per channel

I've had these under a month and the sonic differences are amazing. Crystal clear dialouge and vocals on music and movies. I first listened to music on the system and was impressed, then I watched a DVD and the sound was incredible. Keep in mind that my receiver and DVD player are not high-end stuff (Denon 2700 receiver) and it sounds great. As I upgrade my system I expect to hear improvements in the speakers. I do think the speakers take more than the 80watts my receiver has to really make them shine. If you watch movies a lot then this is the reference speaker system for anything under $5,000. M&K is gaining quite a reputation with their THX speaker line.

Strength:

First rate construction, the speakers have a powerful aura to them, even when they are not on. And of course, the sweetest sound these ears have ever heard. Blows Bose away :-P

Weakness:

well, they ARE expensive. But for this quality (and some Ebay searching), I believe they're worth every penny. See if you can give them a listen at a high end home theater store.

The first time I heard M&K speakers (a brand of which I had never heard previously), I had just finished a conversation with my father, in which he said "Tim, don't even think about buying any speakers unless you can HEAR them, and like what you hear."

Well, my high school Media class was taking a tour of the FotoKem Film/Video labs that day. We entered a Kodak TeleCine lab (in which an operator uses a 2.5 million dollar machine to convert film 'dailies' into high-definition video). The first thing that caught my attention was the elaborate computer system the operator was using. He greeted us, and continued working on converting a rough daily of a suspenseful shot. As I watched him work, I didn't even realize at first that the speakers were even present. The creaking floor, the softly closing door, the gunshots all sounded like they were a natural part of the world I was watching on high-definition screen. It didn't even occur to me that these beautiful, PERFECTLY imaged sounds were coming from five elegant white speakers arranged on the wall. Remembering what my father said about sticking with the speakers I liked, I read "M&K Professional, THX certified" on the speakers. I thought "I'm gonna get speakers like that SOMEDAY."

Sure enough the 750THX system uses the same drivers and corssover circuitry as the Professional 150's I saw in that film studio. They are simply the "THX Select" version, since I only have to fill a living room, not a big studio. And they work brillantly. I have one more story about my experience with M&K speakers.

I worked at Sears Brand Central this summer. As you might know, Sears does not cater to the high end audio audience (or ANY high end audience, for that matter), but there was one fallen angel of the audio world that I worked with. George was a brilliant audio technician/salesman that used to own his own high-end audio business until the early nineties, when recession forced him to fold his business and find other work. Still, during his time at his audio store, he sold and worked with all kinds of audio systems: Lexicon, McIntosh, even more mainstream Yamaha, Sony, Pioneer, etc. Well, when I was discussing with him which kinds of speaker systems he liked, he was extremely picky. But when I mentioned M&K, he just said "oooohhh..., you can't go wrong with M&K."

So I am extremely satisfied with my 750THX system, I know you can't go wrong if you choose this system. One tip from me though, while the authorized M&K dealers (few and far between) will be able to get you your system for sure, DO try and find individual components on Ebay (I got my 1250THX subwoofer for $500, still factory sealed, rather than the... $950 MSRP) There are some good deals to be had, and you always have the authorized dealer for backup :-)

Strength:

Power, natural sound, black gloss finish (If you choose the gloss model).

Weakness:

None

Extreamly happy with the purchase. I bought the black gloss package minus the sub, am planning on adding the M&K 105 push pull sub to the system (any opinions are greatly appreciated!).
Am running the speakers from a Yamaha 2095 amp, the sound and the power is immense (Able to shake the windows with the volume at 11 o'clock.)
Very easy to set-up and sound is great. Watching movie fight club, backround noise is so clear it almost distracts from the main dialogue, you literally hear things you dont normally hear.

Thanks to the reviewers below for helping me make the right decision!

I'm not an expert, but I researched purchasing new electronic equipment for nearly two months, and this was the best speaker system for anywhere near $2k for watching TV and DVDs. I also found that the Onkyo 787 receiver and the Sony 360 DVD player were excellent complementary systems, and I bought those as well. I've had all of these components for 4 months and have no regrets.

Strength:

Quality built speakers backed by a 10yr. warranyt. Sound qualities and THX certified.

Weakness:

Accessories like wall mounts not included. Accessories are expensive. Now I have to spend alot more $$$ to get a nice wide screen to match the awesome sound.

Bottom line is if your budget for speakers is around $2000 then look no further. I was close to buying a polk audio setup until I accidentally ran across M&K thanks to Magnolia Hi-fi. Never had heard of this brand so I did some research (mostly on this website). Once reading all of the reviews my mind was changed and my budget was blown all to hell, considering I was only planning on $2500 for reciever and speakers. I ended up buying all high gloss finish in the 750thx (left, center, right), v-1250 sub, and s-55 tripole for rears. Considering the extra $150 for flush mount wall brackets, I upgraded to the tripole which came with a flush mount bracket kit for close to the same price as the s-55 dipole with optional flush mount brackets. I am building stands for the front left and right speakers, which will be identical to M&K's $300pr. stands for half the price with solid oak. I have this setup powered by a Yamaha rx-v800 and ran 12awg. monster cable to all. CRIMP-ON monster cables a must for the reciever, but M&K has nice screw down connectors that hold the wires nice and tight.
I use this system for 75% home theater. I could not be happier with these speakers. Once I was able to dial in the sub. and location just right, it is awesome. Like a few other reviewers I might have considered upgrading the sub to the mx-150thx or the mx-350, but I was already way over budget at $4000 now. Anyhow the v-1250 does just fine shaking walls throughout my house (and I'm sure the neighbors also!!) If you still are not sure on these speakers just sample the battle scene in the Gladiator with the tigers and the masked guy out of retirement. Have the salesman close the doors and turn it up to -30db (reading on my yamaha, ? other recievers) and hope you brought a spare set of pants. It is amazing how flawlessly the sub picks up the bass for the front speakers when the tiger roars, how realistic the swords sound while smashing together, as if you are right there. I would say I bought the perfect setup considering this is my first home theater system (on a budget). I have set up a few systems including Bose, and Polk Audio. My M&K's make them sound like a $300 system. Too bad I could'nt rate them higher than 5 stars!!!(only 4 stars on value due to accessory pricing) Time for the widescreen reviews!!!!!

These are without a doubt the best 5.1 speaker system I have ever heard. They are clearly superior in every respect to many of the other good speaker systems I auditioned and was considering purchasing, including Definitive Technology Procinema 100, Boston Acoustics 9000, Energy Take 5 and their Mirage counterpart. If I hadn't gotten the M&K, I would have gone with a system by Pioneer Elite. I don't know their model number, but they run around $1500 and are a small satellite/subwoofer system -- they're very musical and good for home theater too, but don't have as good of detail as the M&K's. The M&K's can handle uncomfortably loud volumes with aplomb. A guy came into the store where I was shopping and wanted to find speakers that could handle his high power Carver amp. He was blasting away Nirvana, and the M&K's reproduced the music beautifully [as beautifully as possible given the CD ;) ] If you can bring yourself to pay as much as these cost, you will not be disappointed.
