Incredible sound

Weakness:

$$$$

I went into Magnolia HiFi with my reluctant wife looking for a replacement for my Bose speakers. I was set on a Def Tech speaker system. I listened to the Def Techs and had the salesman switch between the Def Techs and the Bose. I could hear a big difference in sound quality. Then I made the BIG mistake of listening to the low end M&Ks, and again another step up in sound quality. The M&ks made the Bose sound like a transistor radio. My wife was impressed to, she asked when we were going to get the new speakers!! I left the store in a quandry fighting the urge to pay the $$$s for the M&ks or settle on the Def Techs. Well, the next day I bought the low end M&Ks, K-7s I believe, with the 1250 sub. Then I started reading all of the rave reviews on this site about the 750s and the next day exchanged the K-7s for the 750s.

Afer 3 months I'm still like a kid in a candy store with the new speakers. I get so excited when I stick in a new DVD anticipating the incredible sound that is waiting to explode from these speakers.

I still need to get the rear speakers. I'm thinking either the SS-150 surrounds, the surround 55 or the surround 550. There are not many reviews about the surrounds so if anybody has experienced these speakers email me and let me know what you think.

I have been auditioning loudspeakers for my home theater for the last two plus years. I initially purchased a system by Aura. For the front left and right I have towers with a 360 degree ribbon tweater midrange and woofer. These provide excellent imaging/soundstage. Overall, I love my system. However, my wife has made it clear that the tower speakers take up too much space in the family room and are a bit of an eye sore. Secretly, I would have to agree. Our family room does not have the space for the towers. If this was a HT room only, I'm not shopping for a new system.
So, I recently re-started my quest for the ultimate home theater & music speaker system in a sub/sat configuration. I evaluated over a dozen speaker sub/sat systems (including Jamo, NHT, Paridigm, and Energy).

This week I was able to audition two M&K systems: LCR-55s w/ V-75 Mk II sub and the 750THX. I played a wide range of CDs and DVDs (both DTS & Dolby Digital) on each system. The LCR-55 system was fantastic. Excellent clarity, spaciousness and amazing detail. The satellites and the sub worked well together. I was sure this was the system for me!

...Until I heard the 750THX system. Using the same CD passages and DVD scenes, it immediately became clear to me that, as much as I was impressed with the LCR-55s, the 7570THX was an even better package. The detail and imaging was just as good, but the one thing I noticed was how this system was able to provide greater bass reproduction. In stereo mode, the left and right 750s combined w/ the 1250THX sub produced some of the finest music I've heard (period). Though the LCR-55 system was an excellent system, the 750 system had greater bass and a fuller sound without sacraficing the detail in the mid/high frequencies. On movies, this system excelled. In short, this is the best sub/sat system I've heard to date. It's not cheap, but life's short.

I'm buying this baby this weekend! I'm going for the shiny lacquer black finish.

Strength:

Incredible sound stage, Excellent build quality, M&K reputation

Weakness:

None

I was looking to upgrade a 25 year old speaker system when I stumbled upon this web site. Prior to this, I had never heard of M&K. The reviews contained here prompted me to located the nearest dealer and give them a listen. Needless to say, I fell completely in love and I knew that I had to have them. I purchased the 750s along with a pair of 550THX surrounds and a V75-MKII subwoofer. I took these home and hooked them up to my Yamaha RX-V595 receiver and it was like I died and went to heaven. The sound stage was incredible and I began to hear things that I had never heard before from my CD collection. I then popped in a DVD and oh-my-God I couldn't believe the realism with which these speakers reproduced the sound. My recommendation is run, don't walk to the nearest M&K dealer and buy these speakers...I guarantee that you won't find more bang for the buck!

FOR SALE - M&K MX-150THX SUB WOOFER
UNDER 150 HOURS - 799 OBO-
email me at research_gate@yahoo.com

Weakness:

None

I have been very happy with this subwoofer. Unfortuantely, my neighbors have had a few misgivings about the earth shattering impact produced by the low-frequency sound from this unit. Unlike several of THX certified subwoofers, the MX-150 THX is certified to THX performance standards when a single unit is used in rooms up to 3,000 cubic feet! This subwoofer has deep bass impact and its shielded driver is capable of producing sound below 20 Hz. If you don't have pre-amp level outputs (THX/surround controllers, preamps, crossovers), then this subwoofer is not for you as its does not include speaker level inputs. However, if you are in the market for a world class powered subwoofer, then you should definately check out this model. The cabinet dimensions are 23" high by 15 1/4" wide by 19 5/8" deep. It weighs 74 lbs!

Strength:

Sound reproduction is as ggod as much more expensive speakers

Weakness:

None

I purchased these speakers as part of the 750 MK II package that included the LCR-750THX, LCR-550THX and V-1250THX Sub. I am in a room that is less than 3000 cubic feet and they sound fantastic as a set.

If you want true sound reproduction for not much money, these can't be beaten.

Very true to source.

I fell in love with the sound of these speakers the first time that I heard them. I was taken by them realizing that the great sound that I was hearing, was from a set-up in which their position had not been optimized. Nor were they being driven by high end equipment.

When I got them home, (and of course after proper positioning/calibration) my grin just got bigger!

I know that THX speakers get the rap about not being musical. Now I'm not saying that the 750's are the end all speaker. They aren't. But, I think for those that want a very capable speaker, the M&K's more than hold their own on music.

Others before me, have stated enough about the 750's technical points so, I won't repeat them here.

Together mated with my Pioneer 27TX and SVS 20-39cs, Movies and music have never sounded so good.

One can always do better in our hobby. The question is: How much are you willing to pay for it? I think at this "mid-fi" price point it's a just system,IMO.

Buy a decent THX receiver, add a 750 Outlaw Audio amp, and push through these speakers and I promise you'll have performance of the big bloated - high buck equipment at a fraction of the cost. Period.

Searched high and low on the internet, reading reviews such as these.
Finally ended up at Magnolia HiFi and did 2.5hrs of A/B comparisons between M&K, Def Tech and Klipsch. Went in there expecting to leave with the Def Techs... Wrong! After listening to the M&Ks, the Def Techs sounded like they were playing out of the bottom of a barrel. The Klipsch's had slightly better definition than the Def Techs but neither pair even compared to the M&Ks. Before you buy anything else, do yourself a favor and at least audition them, you won't be disappointed. Except maybe in what they charge for these babies. They want $225/ea for speaker stands alone (we went with a more affordable stand). But if you own loudspeakers for a long time like I do (had my last pair for 16+ years), then you need to do it right. This system is great for both HT and music.

Bought the entire 750THX system. Works great with my Outlaw 1050 receiver and Kimber cable.

The day I bought the 750THX 5 speaker system, I hooked it all up and threw in Saving Private Ryan, Matrix, U571, and most recently The Phantom Menace. Combined with my SVS 20-39CS sub, I was in movie heaven. Truly a great value, and perfect for my room size (15x15x9).

None except for what has been pointed out by everyone already ....$$$$$$. But It is worth every penny

As someone had pointed out earlier, I have never heard of M&K before. I bought a Denon AVR 4800 receiver and was almost about to buy the Bose AM10. When I was looking for a deal for the AM 10 on the net, I stumbled upon this "GREAT" site and that's when I saw the speaker ratings. I actually did not listen to these speakers before buying them. But instead I decided to trust all my predecessors who have bought this product and have rated this product on this site. Boy am I Happy now. I would like to thank everyone who has posted a review on this product earlier for having guided me to buy this great set of speakers. For all new prospective buyers who are looking to buy good speakers, if you do not mind spending, do buy this. I am telling you.. you will never be disappointed. I bought mine from Reliable Audio Video. They provided me excellent service. I would definitely recommend them also for buying these speakers.
