Strength:

All aspects of this system

Weakness:

Induces severe loss of sleep due to the irresistable urge to listen to these speakers all night and all day.

There isn't much to say that already hasn't been said about these speakers. They have turned my living room into a movie theatre.

Strength:

This is my second opinion of the 750 THX system and it has not changed since the first...Still an awesome sound and one of the best if not greatest overall value in its price range. Able to compete with speakers in a higher priced class with ease. Movies and music sound great. surround sound is clear and will make you think you are right in the
scene itself. The battle segments from Saving Private Ryan
and Thin Red Line are incredible. When listening to good old stereo music you will hear things you never knew were inherent to some of your CD's. these are that good. If you
like to ocasionally rock your neighbors with loud music that is still emphatically clear and free of distortion then
these will do the job.

Weakness:

none known except for whatever issues our English friend
found but was unwilling to elaborate on. He must not know how to hook up the speakers! maybe he misses his tea and crumpets? He trashes the speakers but doers not say why. Pay no attention to his review. it is not a review at all.

Buy em folks! Go listen to them and make your own decision. If you want 5000.00 speakers they are out there
for the purchasing ....just make sure they sounjd as good
as a 2100.00 sytem from M & K. And do not consult the previous review for any help in making your purchase. He
is from the U.K. I think thats in England? We whupped
their hind ends twice and saved their butts two more times.
Pity they cant appreciate a good speaker when it right in front of them.

Strength:

extreme bang for the buck. what strength do you need beside this: this is the best speaker package you can buy at this price point (approx $2000)

Weakness:

subwoofer in package stinks (at least for its price). upgrade to at least the MK125 MKII.
gets harsh with cheap speaker cables...but what doesn't? :D buy good cables :)

I'll break it down.

Bass is massive, clear, low. Goes down to 20 easy in my room. Rather good for music.

Midrange is extremely natural. With a good recording you'll be blown away.

Highs are high, clear, and produced with apparent ease.

I'm mating these with the internal amp on my Pioneer VSX-24TX in THX mode, which is 90x5@8. I do plan on upgrading, but this drives the speaker just fine. The front l/r and center will go down to 4 ohms if you need them to.

The off-axis response is outstanding when set up properly. Sometimes I go upstairs to make a sandwhich and I swear I'm still in the sweet spot :P

All these comments take into account that my reciever, speakers, and cables cost about $3,000 all together, but this setup outperforms the sonus faber / sunfire / yamaha A-1 setup they had at my local stereo store costing quite a bit more.

I got the speakers, sub, and cable from Uncle's Stereo in NYC. Not only did I get a great price on the speakers/sub, I got a huge price break on the cables, and Andrew Kent, the owner, was a pleasure to talk to. After grilling him for a bit, making some key decisions, and ordering, I recieved the speakers overnight, and the cables the day after that. He gave me an estimate of 10 business days, which I would have understood, but getting them the next day was unspeakably enjoyable. I will definately do business with Uncle's Stereo again.

To sum it all up: if you're spending 1800 on speakers (2,200 with an upgraded sub), buy these :)

Strength:

Power, clarity, vocals

Weakness:

lousy supply of brackets

Unreal. I used four LCR750's for mains and surrounds. Plus the center and the 1250. The sound is incredible. I auditioned Paradigm, Polk, DefTech. None touch the M&K's.

Strength:

Sound. It's vast, and clear, they are wonderful at producing movies and cd's with breathtaking clarity. I have a full THX loungeroom, that's not bad! BASS! is big, and crisp

Weakness:

Tweeters, I run them with a Denon AVC-A1SE amp, and I have lost 2 tweeters so far. 10 year warranty and the excellent service from my dealer make up for it though, take it in, they fix it up, and back to my system. Pricey speakers.

I too researched aggressively when hunting for speakers, and I thought I would give these things a listen. I was moved! The Sub is so loud that it makes all the windows in my warehouse rattle n hum.

I have it connected to a Denon AVC-A1SE amp, which has cooked a tweeter or two so far... The sound though is amazing.

ONE WORD OF RECOMMENDATION... If your amp supports sound level measureing (ie test tones) get a meter, I thought I had them soundign good as a set, I tried with the meter and I was way off. Now this thing sounds UNBELIEVEABLE, it makes my draw drop every time. I am hanging out now to get a set of side and rear surrounds, 7.1 seems like a purely decadent sound experience, and I want it! :D

I run with a Toshiba sd900 DVD player, a Sony projector, Denon amp and it is a sweet cinema system, I cannot imagine me going to the cinema ever again!

Strength:

Excellent soundstage and imaging. The ability to make you forget that there are speakers in the room.

Weakness:

Cost, but for the performance they give the value is great.

I am currently using the M&K setup with my Onkyo TX-DS777 receiver and I am extremely pleased with their performance together. The M&K 750 system is truly great for any program material, HT and 2 or 5 channel stereo are great. My Polk setup just didn't have this level of detail resolution and imaging. Acoustic recordings are just phenomenal through these speakers.

One word of advice to music lovers: Upgrade from the standard V-1250THX sub to one of the push-pull units. The difference in articulation and speed/attack are easily audible when you compare side by side. The MX-125 ( the one I got) really dusts the single driver unit on critical music listening, not so much on movies, although the extra driver definitely provides more overall output. It's worth spending an extra $100-$200 when you're already in it for $1800-$2000. Just my opinion though:-).

I listened to quite a few systems in this price range and none sounded as good to me, that's all I need to know.

Strength:

Clarity, response, sound, dispersion of sound.

Weakness:

Elegance....maybe.

Surprised myself by buying these, but I got them for such reasonable money, that I could not pass. I was looking for a basement spkr system to replace a Mirage AVS500 system which sounded just too "thin". I looked to MK since I have MK S125 in my main room. That way I could mix/match in future...and I "love" those S125's.
At any rate, i brought the 750THX home (minus Sub), put them right on top of the S125's for compare. Bingo...very close for the fronts...550 rears are weaker...but hey this is for my basement! This may be the bargain of the century if you can come close to 125's for half price. (I still use a Mirage 10 Inch sub)

Strength:

CLARITY, POWER HANDLING

Weakness:

THE SUB

THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST CRYSTAL CLEAR HOME THEATER SPEAKERS. THEY GET EXTREMELY LOUD WITH NO DISTORTION. MY OLD BOSTONS COULD NOT HANDLE HALF AS MUCH AS THESE. I DID A LOT OF AUDITIONING WHEN I DECIDED THAT I WAS MISSING SOME OF THE SOUNDS WITH MY BOSTONS. THE DEF TECHS ARE VERY NICE AS WITH THE NEW BOSTONS, BUT FOR CLARITY, THESE M&K'S CANNOT BE BEAT. MY WIFE NEVER GIVES ANY COMPIMENTS TO ANY OF THE HT STUFF I BUY, BUT SHE DID SAY THAT SHE NOTICED A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THESE SPEAKERS. THEY ARE VERY MUSICAL ALSO, BUT IF YOU LISTEN PREDOMINANTLY TO MUSIC, LOOK AT THE BOSTONS OR B&W'S. IF YOU CAN AVOID THE SUB AS I DID I WOULD RECCOMMEND IT. THE SUB IS UNDER POWERED AND OVER PRICED. A BETTER SUB FOR MUCH LESS MONEY IS THE ATLANTIC TECH 350PBM FROM ONE CALL FOR ABOUT 500.00 AND IT IS THX SELECT ALSO. THE SUB IS NICE, BUT FOR THE MONEY THERE IS SO MUCH MORE AVAILABLE SUCH AS THE DEF TECH 15TL FOR 600.00-700.00. I WILL STILL GIVE IT 5 STARS ON VALUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT FOR THE PRICE OF THIS SYSTEM, IT STILL BLOWS THE DOORS OFF MOST ALL OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE SYSTEMS.

Strength:

sound, clarity, design, build quality and deapth.

Weakness:

break in period, subwoofer

I am more than pleased with the quality of sound these speakers reproduce. They are very sharp and detailed and open up the sound stage without any strain and lack of detail.
For movies I have not heard a better speaker for the price. The center never fails to deliver excellent dialogue even at low volumes. During scenes from the Patriot, I was amazed at how the system captures the essence and power home theater can offer. Every detail can be heard and experienced without feeling overwhelmed. These speakers pull you right into the movie.
For music the system is right on. Stereo music will play as it was recorded and hits the mids and highs with perfect balance. It handles dance music to classical with ease. When listening to DTS CD's I was truly impressed with the quality of the surrounds. This is where the system shines. Check out Lyle Lovette's DTS CD.
One final point, I did upgraded the sub to the MX-350 THX MKII. The sub that comes with the package is not powerful enough for me. I heard it bottom out when just listening to a DTS DVD introduction at an average volume. The 350 has NEVER bottomed out and is very powerful. I understand Lucasfilm used 2 350's to mix Episode 1. The 350 is so tight and never boomy. I have never head anything that compares to the MX-350. I'll save my thoughts on this sub for a seperate review.
The 750 THX speakers along with the MX-350 was the best purchase decision I made with respect to my home theater. You will not be disappointed! Do allow at least 10 hours to break them in. By the way, congratualtions to M&K for the 2000 Sterepohile Guide to Home Theater Gold Award for the 750 THX system!! The secret is out!

Strength:

Clear, defined, with kick

Weakness:

Sometimes too bright, slightly boxy sounding.

Simply amazing. Nearly bought the DefTechs until I heard the rooftop scene of the Matrix. The definition and sonic power of the gunshots, kicks, and Bullet Time scene, sold me.

These are a bit brighter sounding than their bigger brother 150s and tend to sound like the small boxes they are, versus the HUGE soundstaging of the BP2006's. However, unless you A/B switch them side by side, you'll soon acclimate to the razor sharp soundfield of the 750s and forget that they're little bookshelf speakers.

The only real complaint would be the price, they've gone up about 10-15% since 1999, sure they're still worth buying, but not the greatest deal they were less than a couple years ago.
