I started looking for the my first serious audio system about 6 months ago. And so begginneth the journey...
Strangely enough, I sought of had my heart set on a Bose Lifestyle system... I had listened to it at various friends' places and shows etc and had been impressed but when it actually came to listening to it in a store, something was missing, in fact , a lot was missing and what wasn't, was muddy or harsh!!

I realised then that a split system was not for me. I tried the Bose 701 (I was obviously in love with Bose at this time !!) and was much happier that I was moving towards the sound I was after but still the bottom end wasn't there and well, that side firing mid just seemed wrong...

It was at this time that I found this site. Praise the Lord !! Although I've found some of the reviews of Bose stuff to be particularly harsh, it did show me that there others out there with the same concerns about Bose and it forced me to look at other speakers.

Enter Klipsch and Energy. Unfortunetly, us Aussies don't have the choice of the North Americans and the choices we do have are very expensive due to the import costs. My budget wouldn't allow me to look above the KLF-10 and the C8.

The C8 is a beautiful sounding speaker, very warm and tight, crisp highs but where is the bottom end ?? It lacks so much there, that the KLF-10's were almost bought, almost. But after hours of listening to the KLF-10 I just couldn't make a decision about them - they had the live, responsive, clean and powerful sound that I was after but the mids were chewing my ears off. Listen to a few female vocalists at volume through them and you'll see what I mean. Almost a nasal sound.

And then the store wheeled in some KLF-20's. In Oz, these are $1000 more, so it was more for interest than anything else. But there was such a difference between them and the 10's that I bought them then and there. Same characteristics, but the mids and highs are a beautiful thing. Turn them up and you get nothing but live, clean sound with a bass response you could only dream of.

I'm a month into reliving my CD collection - there's stuff on these disks I've never heard before !! Thanks everyone for contributing to AudioReview.

Five speakers. AWESOME !!

I just got my KLF20's from Netmarket for $949. I had been looking for a year and couldn't pass up the price. I replaced a pair of Klipsch Quartet's with these and the improvement in bass was very effident. One speaker did not work out of the box and rather than wait 4 more weeks to get another one I took a look inside and found one of the woofer leads unattached. This was an easy fix and well worth the effort in time alone. I could not be happier with the sound quality of these speakers. I give them a five on sound and a three on quality control.

First let me say that Berkan must have some hearing loss from all of his years in the profession. He obviously doesn't understand that Klipsch is not only about "amount" of bass, but pure accuracy of the entire audible range. I've wanted a pair of Klipsch speakers ever since my physics teacher rocked our high school with a pair of Klipschorns and a McIntosh amp at 2 watts. My wonderful brother told me to pick the speakers of my choice as a graduation gift from law school. Finally, the opportunity I had been waiting for! I listened to a number of speaker models, including the Klf10, 20, and 30. I felt after extensive testing that the 20 was the best of the bunch. I've been wallowing for years with substandard equipment, so I will not be able to fully enjoy my speakers for a while, but I've at least begun the quest. I now have a HK-AVR25II thanks to audioreview marketplace and I'm able to completely blow myself away with clean, loud, accurate music reproduction. I have yet to experience HT, so I can't review the speakers in that role, but I can say that they produce a wonderful, powerful, expansive soundstage for music ranging from acoustic guitar to symphonic pops and EVERYTHING in between. These speakers will be with me for a VERY long time and I can't imagine any better sound for the price. There are many in the audiophile world who don't care for the accuracy of Klipsch horn driven speakers, instead preferring "warmer" sounding speakers. In my opinion, I'd much rather have put to my ear exactly what was put on the disc. These speakers do just that, and I couldn't ask for anything more. 5 stars just doesn't seem like enough!

Now second I am not a casual listener. I have been in this business for about 15 years Age from 14 now I am 29. I used to be a DJ in a place getting 1000-1200 people everynight. Let me tell everyone who think they are professionals. I sold and bought items, and used ranging from $10-45,000. (based upon a so-called store demo and not even owning a pair of KLF20's)---What does that mean I will go to a store and spend thousands of dollars before trying them, You must be joking Soupman. I know what I am talking about because I am not stupid to spend $1500 and later on need to spend another $500 for a sub. I dont like Klipsh because they are overrated,it is understantable because you kids don't know better. They are clear they have good sound, Jensen Yes they do have more bass I never compaired the quality, listen and read carefully. If I wanted to buy Klipsh I have the money, I could. I can probably buy your MOM with the money I have. I don't know what kind of soup you are but I will burn your mom's mouth with my soup! Here is a place where you post your ideas. Not everybody like the same sound from a speaker. Tell me you don't like my taste! Don't make comments about my mom. You sound like you are in love with Paul W. Klipsch!!! Who cares if I don't like Klipsch? It is my opinion and nobody can talk about my mom because of this reason! Why don't you dare to give your e-mail address or your adress? By the way I bought Energy C-8, they are great the price is $1500 and you don't need a sub. This is to Ray hey Mr. Knows first you go and learn your brand names and spell correct it is Aiwa not Awia.

You have over thirty reviews on this page with almost a perfect rating and then enters a tone def idiot named Berkan. Not only does he insult everyone on this page by submitting a one star review (based upon a so-called store demo and not even owning a pair of KLF20's), but he also has the nerve to compare the Klipsch KLF20's to a $59 Jensen speaker.
Berkan just admit to everyone that you had no intention (and probably could not afford) of spending $1,500 on speakers. You went to your local audio / video store to only dream about owning a pair of KLF20's. While you were there you saw a pair of crappy Jenson speakers that were an open box special and you bought them, hell...you probably picked up a Yorx or Sound Design receiver to drive those "will be blown in a month" speakers as well.

As far as you not being able to hear any bass..... CLEAN OUT YOUR EAR WAX AND MAKE A CANDLE! I'm sure your definition of good bass is your mom stomping her corn & bunion infested foot to floor as you shave the hair from her back!

Strength:

All around great sound - home theater or music they sound great. My room is 20 x 20 and these speakers fill it in completely.

Weakness:

none.

I have the KLF-20's and the C7 center hooked into my Denon AVR-3801 and this system simply rocks. These speakers are throaty and barely let my KSW-12 sub do any work! They are also clean and clear, but then who would expect anything less from Klipsch. Even with my bargain basement cable, I am impressed! 5-Stars all the way - go to www.sounddistributors.com. Best price on the web!!
