The RS4 sounds great. I just recieved them as a present from my parents and after listneing to them for one song I fell in love wth them. The mids are clear and the highs are definded. The only thing is the highs are a little sharp at extremly high levels of volume. These speakers also put out enough bass, but a sub would make these speakers sound incredible.
My system is

Onkyo TS6??? 60x40
Onkyo 6 disc cd player
Fronts:Infinity RS4
Surrond:INfinity RS1

This system sounds great in my 20 by 20 bedroom

When I listened to these speakers at the store, I thought they sounded incredible and knew they would sound even better once I got them home..which they did! The brightness of the mids and highs are quite impressive and I'm surprised at the how much bass they put out! I didn't realize how much bass they were capable of until I actually listened to them in my home! I don't think I'll even need a sub to complete my home theater system. My only concern is that it seems the volume on the receiver has to be turned up quite a bit to get loudness out of them. They just didn't have the same loudness as most of the other speakers set at the same level on the receiver. However, if you crank it a little higher, you can still achieve crisp, clear, loud sound without any distortion. Perhaps, there is a technical explanation to this that is beyond my knowledge of speakers! Anyway, that was just a minor concern to me and did not make me think twice about buying these speakers. Quite impressive!

After Listening to maybe a dozen or so speakers in my price range that could be found locally I discided on the RS4s. Bought them from Uncles and I have not been disappointed. They sound great in my 22x40 great room. Of course I am using a powered sub (BU2). They compliment each other well in my opinion. The HI's and midrange or great from these speakers.

When my girlfriend told me she had bought a stereo system from Cicruit City (without me!) I was convinced that she was taken for a ride. The system she came home with included a Technics home theater receiver, CD changer and cassette deck, and a pair of Infinity RS-4s. I was never all that impressed with Infinity speakers, but admittedly I hadn't heard any in several years. My own modest stereo system includes a pair of Epos ES-11s, which are great in terms of clarity but always left the nagging impression that something was missing. I discovered that "something" when I listened to the RS-4s. They had nice tonal balance, decent bass and surprising dynamics for small floorstanding speakers. But what really surprised me about the RS-4s was the stereo image. It was wide open with a good center fill, and extending far beyond the outer limits of the speakers themselves. They had a really nice sense of soundfield depth that I've never heard with my Epos. With a good recording like Johnny Clegg's "Cruel Crazy Beautiful World" they really shined. They're a little veiled compared to the Epos (though that could change with better speaker wire, they sold her cheap Monster "zipcord") but they make up for it with great dymamics and imaging. I'm going to do some serious tweaking of my system this week, and if I don't get an improvement I may sell the Epos and pick up a pair of RS-4s myself. I guess Infinity finally got it right.

I purchased a pair of the RS-4s three months ago. When I went searching for speakers I was concerned with woofer size and the clarity of the highs. I always looked passed the RS-4s due to their woofer size, until one day, I asked the salesperson to turn them up. I was amazed. The could not believe this small of a woofer could produce such low frequencies. I use them as my stereo pair and also in a home theater set-up. After playing every type of music and several action movies, I am even more impressed than the first day I heard them. Glad I choose the RS-4s.

I just bought the RS4's and hooked them up as front speakers, and I have 2 Infinity RS3's as surround the bass is tight the midrage are awsome and the hights.... well they are just trademark Infinity sound. They are amplified by an Onkyo TX-DS555 dolby Digital with 115 Watts per channel. And the 6Disk CD Changer c340. I am very pleased with the system and the perfect Infinity sound. Very highly recommended.

I recently bought a pair of these speakers from 800.com for $124.99 each. For this price you just can't do better. On their own they sound great with very good low end response. I use them for both music and home theater and am very happy with them.

Excellent sound. Front speakers for a full-blown $4500 system, driven by a HK PA5800(!) power amp.

Strength:

Great Sound, Clean.

Weakness:

None that I can find right now.

I recently purchased 2 RS-4's (rear $69/ea) 2 RS-8's (front $189/ea) and a Video 1 ($59) from Ubid.com They were all brand new in the box and not factory serviced. Full 5 year warranty. All 5 speakers cost $665 before shipping. All in all, an outstanding deal considering they are discontinued. All 5 speakers compliment each other very well. I may add a HPS sub shortly.

All in all, I am extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend them to anyone. The setup is great for both music listening AND home theater.

Bought the RS4's without too much comparison shopping, which is not usually my style, so I was interested to see what others thought. These speakers sounded best to me in the store (Circuit City) when compared to Polks, etc., in the same price range ($225 each), but when I got them home, I was truly amazed at how much bass they put out. No subwoofers needed here. But actually at low volume levels I find there is maybe too much bass at flat tone on the amp, even with loudness off. I am going to play with their placement to try to fix this. They seem to be pretty good as far as efficiency goes.
