Although a floorstanding speaker, these units would probably be better described as a bookshelf speaker with an integrated stand. I was looking at bookshelf speakers close to the same price which many would consider closer to audiophile sound (Mission, NHT, etc.) but was disappointed in the frequency response of these units (although represented frequencies were lovely). On top of that, I would need to invest in decent speaker stands for these models.
In the end, I sacrificed a little mid-range resolution and some impact for a slightly wider frequency response, good efficiency and an integrated stand - and at a price which actually came in under these other models! (Infinity's can readily be found at significant discounts - don't pay retail, shop around).

I think these speakers are a good compromise for the budget constrained and don't often receive enough credit for filling this niche.
