But turns out to be crap!

I had a bad feeling when my uncle stepped into the house and asked me to help him carry some speakers inside. When I walked outside to take a look at the boxes, I immediately knew it was crap (a brand that costs over $1000 retail, yet I've never heard of). I told him I will drive immediately with him back to the store he got it from and return it! Then he told me the bad news: he got it from the "white van", using the same scam you've all heard about! I was so pissed off, I fell down to my knees, looked up at the sky, and just smiled at the sun. Even though I've never seen this website until I did some research afterwards, I knew right there and then that we were scammed off $300 bucks! What really got me was that I was lying there at home, available for any questions, and it will just take a "phone call"! Even though I'm not an audiophile, I do alot of research and don't accept crap for the money. Obviously, my uncle decided to be wise and thought he had a deal of a lifetime! The bottom line is: Please Please Please, if you're not sure of what your doing, ASK! Don't learn it the hard way....get friends and family's opinion! And do ALOT of research before dealing with the salesman (Bose is VERY good at sales). This website is a must-have reference if you consider yourself to be any type of audio enthusiast. Something is definitely wrong when 50-60% of the crowd says a product is bad!!! Good luck to all you enthusiast!

The scam artist's ignorance of my state of mind

It was a cold Wednesday. I was minding my own business walking along Race street between 16th and 17th streets when a white van pulls along side and the driver yells out, "Boss, you wanna see something really cool?"
"No, thank you." I said.
Then he proceeded to tell me about his delivery fortune--pretty much the same story line that everyone else has heard. I don't mind buying things that "fall off the back of a truck," as long as I know who the seller is. Here, two dudes rambling on and on about the wonderful sound system, blah blah blah. I told them to wait while I call for someone to bring me the money. So, I called a friend of mine who is a detective with the Philadelphia Police Department and told him about the two guys.
My friend arrived in an unmarked car and took them down the station for questioning of "suspicious activies."
My friend told me they were released because no crime was actually committed, but he kept them there for 5 hours while awaiting for "administrative clearance."
The lesson to be learned is: If it's too good to be true...It probably is.

Wow, these people were good. I wish I would have had a couple minutes to surf the net before these guys talked me into these speakers. The speakers are still sitting in my car. I have some information and was able to find a bit more on the net. I will get back with what I find if these leads come through.

I knew what I was getting into. Hey a set of five speakers for 65 bucks. Nooo Prohlem here mang. They're not great but I bought them for my 8 year olds' room. I feel bad for those folks that paid 300+. ouch!

I have to give it up to the guy who sold me the speakers first of all. I haven't listened to the speakers yet but I found this web site and I found out that they got me. They also got my boxing gloves. If the guys who sold me the speakers read this I'm not mad at all but I wish you wouldv'e let me go one round with you, with or with out the gloves, please. Also thanks for the lesson on hussling, will always remember.

I fell for the "White Van Scam" too. The only difference is that I got a big sub from them. I paid about $400 for it. At first it didn't work at all but when I opened it up all that was wrong was the wires to the speaker weren't connected. After I connected them it worked great. In my opinion it is better than any sub you can get from best buy where they charge $600+ for the good ones. The only problem is that I let them talk me into buying the bogus tower speakers for $300. The only thing they are good for is treble. I just want to know how much I actually got ripped off.

Well - I was on route one outside of Princeton NJ - July 19. two people - stuttering george and a reasonably ok looking woman w/ curly brown hair got my attention about some speakers they had just delivered to hooters and had some extras from the distributor that were accidently loaded in there van - some fine Acoustic Image - Tsumani Series satelites and a powered subwoofer. well - $530 later, they are mine. for 30 minutes I was a proud buyer. after that, a big dumb scammed buyer. I will not plug them in. they may be good, they may suck. I'll never know. anyone want them? I'd like to send them back to NC - as that was where the white van was from.
