CABINETS LOOK GOOD; MID-RANGE SOUNDS GOOD

Weakness:

NO REAL BASS RESPONSE, A SUB-WOOFER NEEDED

I bought these on a whim, from a dealer at the swapmeet. I needed another set of speakers to move more air so I could get more sound quality. I use a ADCOM speaker selector balance box for 3 different speaker systems. These Acoustics sounded OK, pretty average,, but were a little weak in extended reproduction range. For easy listening and a small stereo system for apartment style these could fit the bill. I have a pair of Altec Lansing Book shelf speakers that seem to fill in the miss-links so to say. Last weekend I found some JBL's at the swap, so I figured I would sell these, Acoustics. It took me over 2 hours of searching E-Bay to find similar items. There is no name on my set just the "A" logo lable.. If you pull the boxs open the paper labels on the speakers say "MADE IN CHINA" The wooden construction of the cabinets are solid and the speaker designs (maybe knock-off design) is pretty good. Big magnets, well padded boxes, high end connectors, a good power absorbing range and a reasonable crossover. My set go out to e-bay on Labor day week 2001. The price that many of the reviewers stated you paid off this white van is not a bad one; you could have done much worse, anyone who wants to paid more should consider this in the value, I would go to the name brands.. however,, I'll start the bidding at $49.99.

STUPID SCAM ARTISTS!!!!!!

FINALLY JUSTICE HAS PREVAILED ON THESE SCAMMERS. I WAS AT LIVINGSTON MALL PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND THEY ASK ME, "HEY YOU WANT SPEAKERS? WE'LL PRACTICALLY GIVE THEM TO YOU FOR FREE" SO THE FIRST THING THAT WENT ON MY MIND WAS PROFITS FROM EBAY. SO I PURCHASED THEM FOR $220. AND EVEN BOUGHT HIM A CD. HIS NAME WAS JOE OR JOHN. TRIED TO THROW ME OFF WITH AN ACCENT AND SAID HE WAS FROM TENNESSEE. I EVEN WENT TO THE ATM MACHINE TO TAKE OUT THE MONEY. MY BOYFRIEND WORKED AT LIVINGSTON MALL AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE THEY WEREN'T RIPPING ME OFF WTIH THE SAME $1,169 DEAL. HE GOT THE LIVINGSTON MALL SECURITY TO CHECK IT OUT. THEN THEY GOT THE LIVINGSTON POLICE INVOLVED IN IT TOO. I STOOD BY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. THEY TOOK DOWN MY INFORMATION AS WELL. THEN THE COP FINALLY GETS OUT OF THE CAR AND TELLS ME I SHOULD GET GOING. I ASK WHY. HE GOES, "THEY'RE GETTING ARRESTED." I LEFT ASAP!!! BUT WENT BACK INTO THE MALL AND TALKED TO THE SECURITY GUARDS. THEY KEPT SAYING THANKS THANKS THANKS. AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHY UP UNTIL I SAW THIS SITE. OH WELL. HOPEFULLY THIS IS THE LAST ENTRY. -=/

Strength:

They play music! (decent sound quality, but they are no Bose)

Weakness:

Fake titanium tweeters

You guys know the deal, white van pulls up, "hey you want some free speakers?" The hook then the fake story line about how they got an extra shipment, then the sinker when he puts them in my car and somehow I give him $200 for the Accoustic Image 6.5 speakers. Whatever, I can't do much about it now, maybe I'll be able to sell them for half of what I paid for...

WHITE VAN SCAM!! WHITE VAN SCAM!!

So, i'm driving into the parking lot, and this white van with 2 teenagers inside are yelling out the window at me, "you want some speakers?!" I pull over, look at the speakers; I was really nervous because i thought they were hot; they show me the catalog stating that these speakers are valued at $1169. I offered $100, the 1 dude said he'll give me a set for $200, and he started putting the speakers in my car before i even gave him the money. He gets into my car with me to drive to the ATM, with the white van following me all the way! I give him the money, and before i can leave, the other teenager tells me that i'm not right, give me an extra $30 for beer. By the way, both of these kids wreaked of alcohol. I said, "Hell no, if you don't like the deal, give me my money, and take them back!" He gives me my money, takes them back, before I could pull out again, the other kid comes back and he was like,"yeah, my bad about that guy, $200 is cool."

Anyways, i'm sure the speakers will be fine, but i definatly got scammed, and these kids were really good at selling. whatever, live and learn

Excellent sound quality

I bought the whole enchalada. I bought satellite speakers, towers speakers, floor speakers, and a woofer. Even though I am pleased with the products, I was still scammed. I was approached by two young teenagers in a WHITE VAN who told me that they had a bunch of speakers that were unaccounted for at their job. They said that these speakers were given to them by accident and that there was no paper work of them coming in their possession. They further said that the company wouldn't realize till later that they are missing. They said that it was the company's fault for not keeping better tabs on their inventory. These teenagers even came to my house and installed everything in my house. They also valued the speakers as being worth $6,000.00. They even showed me a card where the two floor speakers were worth 1,446.95(something close to that, I forgot the exact amount). I do think I got ripped off but I am pleased with the quality of the speakers.

So, Yesterday, me and my fraternity brother fell hook line and sinker for the white van scam. We purchased 2 sets for 450 dollars, planning on going back, and selling them on ebay for the thousands of dollars they claim they are worth.

We came back and found out about this scam from this site and were pissed as hell. The dumb guy gave us his real cell number to call him back, so we called him that night telling him how cool the deal was, and "our friend wants a set, can we meet him tomorrow" - haha, we set up a meeting with them again, and we tempted them enough to guarantee their arrival.

We got a couple of our friends to ride up to a empty lot the next afternoon, and awaited their arrival with a plan.

They showed up, and while we were talking to them, our friend pulled up and blocked them in so they couldn't escape. At that point I told them "we hooked up the speakers and they don't work man, so give us our money back."

"Thats bull, I know these work man"

"No, we know about the whole scam man, trust me, just give us our money back and we'll let you leave."

"Well, I don't have the money man, its already gone" - we knew that they would say that.

"You got an ATM card?!"

They got all scared and worried, until (while pretending to resolve the situation) they called their "supervisor who was coming to resolve the situation legitamately" well, 3 min later, 3 white vans pull up and the whole "WHITE VAN SCAM FAMILY" gets out of the van lookin angry. Well, we hooked the speakers up to an amp of our buddies car (he had an amp kill switch) and pretended to power up the amp, but of course, (since he had it cut off up front) nothing happened, and we proceeded to prove to them that the amp worked by hooking up the car sub, and undoing the kill switch secretly up front.

HERE's the impressive part.

They said "OK" and all pulled out WADS AND WADS of cash from their pockets, and gave us our money back no problem.

The fact is, these guys are all AMAZING salespeople, good actors, and smart businessmen. They are all teenagers, but they are drug tested, and report their income to the State under a PRIVATE BUSINESS license. These guys are good.

BUT WE SCREWED THEM OVER!!!!!!

ALSO - Those speakers aren't bad at all, if you can score them for less than $250, they are a great deal if you pay less than $250!!!

Same story, overly excited salesman with the 2 "extra" speakers, I got him down to 400, but it seems i should have done better... wish i paid 200. Anyway i got about 20 min to look these things up but didnt find this web site in time, so i bought them... didnt get a phone number , guys name was mark and he had an chicago illanos id card. If there is a web site about the scam, please let me know about it....
