Making huge CA$$$h!!! I love em

Weakness:

the internet and buddies

We're not scared of anyone thats why I come to this site is so I can laugh about it because people hook them up and like them then hear from a buddy its a 'scam'and then they get all pouty. and whine and b***h. It's called a HUSTLE get over it. All the speakers work... We all think its a big joke. What else do you want you got a quality product. The whole speaker industry in general is a bunch of c*ap anyways all speaker components cost nothing to make and companies charge a huge price tag no matter what just because the stamp but on the woofer all youre paying for is advertising its that simple. It would be a scam if the speakers didnt work thats why its a hustle. selling out making huge cash in Chicago. And if someone wants to find me I'm now selling out of a blue 2001 Lincoln Navigator look for me in your neighbrhood shopping area. I bet the Gator is better then what your driving hahaha!!

Come find me I dare you

Not shure havent tried them yet. I was scammed in the parking Lot by a couple of young guys.

Weakness:

The product isnt worth a percentage of what they claim it to be.

I didnt know what I was doing and ended up getting scammed
for a set of supposive Acoustic 9901 speakers. There were
two young guys who sold me on them with their catalogs and
retail prices. They said they were delivery truck drivers
with extra speakers in their shipment and were trying to get rid of them before they made their next stop. they told me stories of other products that they "accidentaly" came
accross and the details were alittle too practiced. but
I gambled and lost. if anyone sees these guys in a white truck, please turn them in or email me and I will meet them
and take care of it myself.

I have not purchased these speakers, or even been approached (I guess that's what happens when you are poor and you look poor!) Anyway, my friend was approached with a similar deal. Two guys in a truck/van/something came up to him with the same story...an extra pair, etc. He did buy them, but they are not the Acoustic 9901s. Are there any other speakers that are being sold like this? I have no clue what they are, but they are in an actual speaker "case" with the nice cherry wood look or something. Just thought I'd pass it on

Strength:

Don't sound too bad. Can be salvaged if you pump enough wattage and use an EQ to turn down the damned treble.

Weakness:

Heh... Yeah...

For some reason, I have never heard of this scam before in my life. Same old same old. Two guys, red van this time, supermarket parking lot, ordered 4, got 8, had to dump the extra before they went back to their boss, showed me a broschure, $850 for the pair, guy down the street offered them a check for $600 and they said no. At this point I said "ok they're stolen... so I'll try to screw em right back"... They asked $500.. I lied and said I had hardly any money available. They said "Ok what about $300"... I said "I don't even have that.. maybe $200" (I had about $3000 in my checking account at the time so I was lying just as bad as they were. So I said "I'll overdraw my bank account right now if ya give em to me for $250"... "Deal". I went to the ATM... "Oh they don't take denominations of $50... I'll have to give you $240" and so it went. I took em home, and they don't sound half bad. I'm a DJ so I know enough about speakers to know what's wrong with them.

The ohmage on the woofers is too damn high. The major design flaw of these things (besides being garbage parts) is that the "crossovers" do a horrible job of balancing the highs per the wattage pushed to the subs. If you're trying to pump these things on a home stereo, no way you'll get enough wattage out of em to push the subs at all. So you turn up the volume, don't get any more wattage, and end up just pushing out the tweeters.

The only way to salvage these things is to push at LEAST 100W to each speaker to have enough power to push the subs at all, and to have a good EQ to simply turn down the highs while you're pushing so much wattage to them. I agree installing a 3 way crossover will do the job, but without the power, you still aren't going to get any bass whatsoever. If you do all three, you will actually be able to use these things and you won't feel so ripped off.

The trend follows that the price paid for these speakers is directly proportional to the stupidity of the buyer. The guys who paid $600 for the pair are the ones who say these are the biggest pieces of garbage in the world. Well jeez for $600 you can get an amazing pair of studio monitors. There's no need to buy out of a van if you have that much money to burn. I paid $240, I got ripped off, but hey I paid $250 for a pair of 8" Cerwin Vega home speakers from Best Buy that are absolute garbage. These will replace them nicely.

You have two options (because catching the guy isn't one of them). Perform all of the necessary modifications to make the best out of your failure, which WILL improve the sound quality enough to make them worth at least $250, or cut your losses and take your anger out on the speakers with a chainsaw. I had no idea any scam could get this big, but add Gainesville, FL to the list.

PS - This time it was a Maroon van. D77 FBF Chrystler Minivan. Florida license plates. The guy goes by "Colin" and he said he's from Jacksonville. He had a jesus fish on the right side of the back by the license plate. Scummy lookin frat guys with baseball hats and sunglasses on. 5'8", bright blue eyes, goatee, dark brown hair. Anyone who goes to UF, if you see this guy, KILL HIM.

Like all of you I too fell into this scam...

Me and my buddy were just getting into my ride outside the Mijer's store in Merrillville, Indiana. My car system slams down crazy style(jbl 600 watt amp, 2 mtx 600 series subs), so we were sittin there bumpin it. All of a sudden these two dopes pull up (2 white guys mid 30's and some kid about 19) and give me some story that sounded pretty real. And me I tell them I dont know anything about home systems... he said not to worry though he would hook me up tight. Being only 18 myself I fell for it and shelled out 200 dollars..Plus gave um 10 bucks he asked for, for "beer" for him and his hard workin pal. It seemed to be the only nice thing to do since he hooked me up with such a sweet deal. My friend asked his cronie why don't they keep the speakers, in response he says, "We are from russia (in a russian accent)we have no need for speakers". In any case if i ever see them agian they will get a good bashin!!!

This is the biggest scam in the world. I paid $350 for these things from a guy on the highway on my way home from work (yes, I was stupid, don't remind me) and I got them home and they are worthless. They showed me a fake brochure that said they were $695 each retail and how they just needed to dump some because their boss would probably fire them if they came back with too many of them.
The wood shells are probably worth about $20 apiece. The woofers are the best part of them, maybe worth about $20-$30 each. The tweeters and the mid-ranges are crap, probably between $5 and $10 apiece. They don't have any crossover network for the woofer, and they all-in-all might cost about $100 each to make from parts you can get at Radio Shack.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCAM IN THE WORLD, DO NOT BUY THESE PIECES OF JUNK! I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH. IF YOU DID GET SCAMMED BY THESE MOTHERF**KERS, I HOPE YOU GOT THE LICENSE PLATE NUMBER OF THE VEHICLE THEY WERE DRIVING...
