Strength:
Zoom Feature, Great Picture Quality. Component Video output. Slow Motion Forward.
Weakness:
Remote Control is rather Small. This is a really great player for the person who is on a budget. The features are great, with a 3x Zoom in feature for those..ahem..nice parts of movies. :) Also, The black levels are further enhanced by using an option that gives deeper black colors. Great item. Picture quality is outstanding, with nary any pixelation from my player. |

Strength:
Best value for price
Weakness:
No lighted keypad on remote I think this one takes the cake in the best value for your money category. The visual and audio quality is extraordinary. The Spatializer N-2-2™ Virtual Surround Sound was stunning. I haven't had the time to hook up the DVD player to my DTS/Digital audio receiver yet. Got the player for $199 ($299 - $100 from ValueAmerica.Com), plus the usual goodies from NetFlix.Com and Blockbuster. IMHO, you can't go wrong with this one. |

Strength:
Great Picture
Weakness:
Does not Play CD-R; Macrovision; After reading all the reviews here, I decided to ge this DVD player. Picked it up at Onale for 229+27 s/h. Better than any local stores that is for sure. I am new to this technology, but I find that the clarity of the picture to be amazing! I like the ZOOM feature and I love being able to review scenes easly and quickly using the memory buttons and the chapter locator buttons. Similar Products Used: None |

I am owning my SD-2109 Toshiba DVD player for more than a month and I am happy with it. May be I am not a keen observer but I did not see anything like annoying horizantal lines while playing any movies. I use an external DD/DTS receiver for the audio and the quality is too good. It is extreme good for the price I paid at the Best buy. In case of any problems found later, I will update this review. |

I just got my 2109 and the first thing I watched for are the "bugs" orcomplaints other people have here. Here are my results. |

Just purchased the 2109 from Sears. I love it. They have a promotion - 299 less $30 coupon + 5 free DVD's and 15 free Hollywood Video rentals. |

I originally gave this product a good review. However, I have since sold the machine in lieu of a Sony DVP-550D. The Toshiba was a sleek looking player and the sound quality was very good. BUT, the remote stinks and the BIGGER problem (which prompted me to sell) is that on a normal 4:3 TV, the downconversion was TERRIBLE. HORRIBLE. Wavy, distracting lines were everywhere! I've played several anamorphic discs on my Sony and it has NONE of that! Best example: in Lethal Weapon 4 after the cool car chase where they drive THROUGH the building and come out the other end... well, the Mercedes they're chasing gets hit by the semi-truck. The camera then pans over the Mercedes wreckage and on the 2109, it looked as if the car were made of the liquid metal from T2-it was flowing everywhere! The Sony displays that Mercedes image rock solid with NO wavy lines. For people that don't notice downconversion problems like this, I envy you. But once I noticed it a few weeks ago, I see it EVERYWHERE. So it is unfortunate that I now give this player 3 stars as in my opinion, it pales in comparison to the Sony. |

This was my first DVD player and I am glad I chose the right one! I was waiting for my local retailer to get them in before the March 31st FREE DVD offer expired, but had to resort to ordering from E-Town ($299 + $20 two day shipping). Best move I have made in a long time! |
