Strength:

Plays Great with great sound

Weakness:

Shipped defective

I also had similar problems that evryone here is reporting. I had mine for about 2 months and it started giving me the C:13 error. It would freeze in the middle of movies and I too attributed this problem to bad Blockbuster DVD's. But, for all of you that are suffering from SONY LETDOWN SYNDROME, there is a silver lining. I had my DVD repaired under it's warranty. When I took it in, the gentlemen explained to me almost all those DVD players have the exact same problem. They replace a part, and it works better then ever and will last a long time. The part they replaced in mine was the optical lense. DUH, explains the disc reading errors. He said they also did some routine maintenance. The thing was FREE to repair, it just took 2.5 months to get back. Better then new!

Weakness:

Doesn't work

It's the same old story. Just a few months after I bought this player, it froze in the middle of a movie I was watching. I attributed it to the disc and did nothing about it. Soon it started happening with more and more frequency. It will still occasionally play a film all the way through, though there is no way of knowing in advance whether it will or will not work. Having already gotten the dreaded C:13 error, I'm just waiting for it to break completely so I can get a new player. I'm looking forward to the class action lawsuit.

Strength:

Picture and sound WAS good.

Weakness:

Went tits up NO DISK error

Well almost 1 1/2 years to the date I bought this player the DVD stopped playing, error C13 was displayed on the screen and now it won't read ANY of my DVD's.

I took it to the authorized SONY shop here in town and they wanted $227.00 to fix it. I almost told them where to shove the DVD player but realized it wasn't their fault. I guess the shop now has some free spare parts as I will not be going back to pick it up. $227 is MORE than I paid for the player NEW. Several calls to Sony yields nothing but more frustration on my part.

I will be buying a Panasonic DVD now, probably the DVDRV31K.

Stay away from this piece of junk, as I'm sure you have figured out from all the other reviews.

Strength:

Excellent entry to mid level DVD player

Weakness:

Manufacturing issues.

I see that I am not alone in the "no disc" problems with this model. At first like everybody else I thought it was the rental discs, but since I work for a DVD replicator I tested "known good" DVD discs from the test group and still received the C13: and skips and freezes.

It is too bad Sony is overlooking this problem, they are going to lose customers. During this time of recession as Sony is ignoring us trying to work on crunching their operating numbers to make there revenue look better for their shareholders, and it will be too late to save face and apply any customer service effort..

Strength:

Worked Great for First 9 months. Small Size.

Weakness:

Started Skipping recently. Should have bought the extended warrenty

We have been getting skips on the 560 player. We take the same disk up to the Sony 540 and it works great. Back down to the 560 and it skips. Haven't got the C13 error yet, but I expect it soon. I plan to bring it back to Circuit City before the end of the warrenty.

Has anyone else been able to get Circuit City to repair?

Strength:

Image quality, high precision and silence of the laser pickup, slim size, exhorbitant audio quality, good functional remote, easiness to connect it on the TV

Weakness:

No CD-R/RW or MP3 reproduction is allowed. This could be good for Video-CD making at home, for digitizing of home videos.

For what I've read about other DVD players, this S560D is the best model for me, that fits exactly on my necessities! No complaints for this model!! I'm a hundred percent satisfied!

Strength:

It has a good remote.

Weakness:

Everything. Starting from the name Sony down.

Purchased the dvd player soon once I saw what appeared to be a good deal. I am a big fan of Sony audio. Car audio that is now. I feel as if the Sony god came down and me grabbed by the short and curly's. Now when i put a dvd in all I see is a really pretty screen saver. My hat off to you SONY. you sons of b*tches.

Weakness:

C:13:00 Error, Skips and Freezes during movie play

I too have many problems with this DVD Player and am VERY unhappy.

I have recently sent an email to http://www.Sony.Net asking what they will do to rectify the situation, because I believe there is some kind of defect with this model. I am awaiting to hear from them before I contact the BBB & Local Attorney Generals Office.
