Strength:

Great features, audio, video, looks great...

Weakness:

Cuts my movies off when they start to get good! No MP3

I have not yet got the "no disk" error. I do however have problems about 1/2 to 3/4 through a movie. I thought it was a heat problem but I dont feel that way anymore after reading all the reviews. I also tried the diagnostic tests but they have not helped. Its out of warranty of course so I could buy another brand before I would pay for a fix. Any ideas?

Strength:

In the first few months, it performed the way a new product should.

Weakness:

see comments above

I am in the same boat as "Ronald" (review dated March 17th, 2002). My Sony was a gift about nine months ago so I guess that is why I have been a little reluctant to say bad things about it up to this point. The problems however, are getting to the point where I can''t stand it. I have been experiencing issues like audio pausing, scene jumping, and freezing for the past three months. I don''t watch a lot of movies (one or two a week), but when I do it is important that the experience is a good one. I can''t watch a movie without something happening to ruin the movie magic. I have been disappointed with the product and my opinion of Sony has suffered because of it. I would not recommend a Sony DVD player to anyone.

Check out the link for the Sony 360. They are looking for participants for the class action suit.

Strength:

Was great while it lasted.

Weakness:

Doesn''t last.

I''ve had the same problems the rest of you have reported. The repair estimate was $281. Yep. More than I paid in the first place. I''m doing everything to get this problem acknowledged by Sony Corp. but to date have gotten nowhere. I truly believe this model has defective parts and should be recalled, repaired free or replaced. This many models dying at the same age of the same problems is rediculous! I won''t quit until we get some answers!

Strength:

Great for 12 months

Weakness:

Unusable after 13 months

Add me to the list of disgusted folks who previously had high opinions of Sony. I too just got on to the web to find out what to do about C13/NO DISC after 13 months of use. It went very quickly from working great to not even playing brand new DVD''s. At least in my case it was a gift, but what do I do with my DVD''s now? Hang them from strings as suncatchers?

Strength:

when I bought it, the name SONY

Weakness:

the name SONY

I''m the same as the rest of you. 16 months- "no disc". This is obviously a design flaw. If the comments of a fuse replacement fixes it, it might be related to heat (the usual culprit for component failure). This could me caused by leaving the player in stand by mode all the time (me) or having it in a very small enclosure (again me). But Sony NOT standing up and admitting they have a problem here really sucks. Whens lives are at stake companies have to react (FOMOCO and the tires) if not then they screw us and figure we are not important enough to spend the money. I will never buy any thing Sony again.

Strength:

Ease of use, compact size.

Weakness:

No ability to capture an image for a screensaver.

I must be one of the lucky ones. The only problem I had was a loud noise when a DVD spun, about 1 month in, and Best Buy replaced the unit. The only time I''ve had the dreaded error is when I get a nasty DVD from Blockbuster or the local library. I clean the disc and that takes care of it.

I''m another one of the victims of this product. Let me just add for everyone that if you get to the point of sending the unit to Sony for repair (I did through the Sony Store in NYC), if you are rude enough to the service center they will ship it back to you with no charge for the diagnostic and shipping. Hey, at least you don''t get COMPLETELY hosed!
