just alittle soft in picture sharpness

I bought this player because my nakamichi dvd 10 has been sent back for replacement due to laser tracking problems.They are sending a new unit to replace. ex. service. However this sony 360 for the money is an excellent buy.The nak is about 600.oo more. but i like the sound on the sony. the surrounds are more defined i'm hearing stuff i haven't heard from the nak. The picture though is not as sharp. It's good, buy hey look at the price.If they could put the nak picture with the sony sound oh what a player you would have.The menu on the sony is excellent as well. it's quick and easy. For an entry level dvd player you certainly can't go wrong with the sony 360.

Like many others here, my 360 crapped out at 11 months. The pickup unit needs to be replaced for $110 in labor. Sony is unresponsive. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Audio sync. problems, Picture freezes

This is a terrible DVD player! The problems continue to mount, and this assures I will NEVER purchase another Sony DVD player. The warranty on labor expired after 3 months and that was when all the problems started. One evening I decided to watch Wages of Fear but could not make it for a continuous 5 minutes before the scene would freeze. After about 1.5 hours of the stop and start, the player just froze completely .......... I replaced the "defective" DVD on the suggestion of a Sony "tech. support specialist". This didn't help the problem at all. The voice sync. problems started soon thereafter on a variety of DVD's including Mindhunter. Like a complete fool I paid the cost of labor to repair. The voice sync. problem is not as prevalent, but the scene freeze (not to be confused with the layer transition) is still a big problem.

As appears, relatively easy setup and use, slim design.

skips, noisy play as cd loads, disc 13:00 error after 11 months, now fails to read any cd at all

I have had my dvd player for about 11 months now, up until about two weeks ago I could find nothing seriously wrong with it. It skipped occasionally, but this was not a major distraction and thus I remained happy. That is I remained happy until the other day when I received the 13:00 message. After getting out the manual, I discovered this meant the disc was dirty, or so I thought. I took out the disc, cleaned it and tried to put the again play the movie. The dvd player would now not even read the disc, thinking this was an extremely dirty disc that you could not clean I opened a new dvd and tried to play that as well. To my surprise, it too would not play. Now I have a dvd player sitting in my entertainment center that is useless. Do not buy this product unless you want the headache of not having a reliable product. Before I thought the Sony name meant reliability and trust, a product well worth the money. This has made me rethink my way of thinking. I will definitely think twice before I ever buy another Sony again, and I have no intentions of doing so anytime in the near future.

Several friends have JVC, Panasonic and Phillips Magnovox players and have had no problems. Many even paid less for a player with more features, the joke, yours can't be this bad because you paid so much more for it....
