Strength:
Great Remote, multiple connection options, 5 discs and watch movies all damn day! Virtual surround.
Weakness:
Noisy carousel(so what!)No CD-R playback When I purchased the unit I only had a 19" RCA TV. I was very impressed by the picture qualtiy and the loads of features on most DVD's. Similar Products Used: RCA home theatre series VCR |

Strength:
Cheap
Weakness:
Front display is awkward and it has a low-budget feel. This player seems like a cheap player compared to Sony 5-disc DVD changers and those of other companies. The front display is particularly bad. Picture and sound are ok. Similar Products Used: Sony 5-disc DVD changers |

Strength:
Cheapest player I found with changer capabilities. Works great.
Weakness:
Remote problems, small buttons, etc. I like this unit. (The 1 star reviews are from some moron.) Similar Products Used: First DVD player I have owned. |

Strength:
Component video out, great sound and picture, Matsushita's reliability, Great audio and video output assortment.
Weakness:
Biggest one - Will not play homemade CDRs, 5 LEDs are too bright when the room's lights are dimmed. Audio Output for dts and Dolby Digital is incredible. It has a dialog enhancer that increases the center-channel if you are watching a movie with the wife and she doesn't want the surround speakers loud enough to hear the voices in Dts or DD. It has two sets of analog video and audio outputs which is nice for receiver and monitor inputs. There is both coax and toslink digital audio outputs. It has the future 96KHz/24-bit Audio D/A Converters. I like this unit a lot for a low cost changer. I compromised the capability of listening to home burned CDRs or VCDs because of the convenience of the changer compared to a Pioneer 525 for other audio CDs. Rumor has it that there is soon coming a second generation CDR that can be read by the DVD laser. If we had that capability now my overall rating would be 5 stars instead of 4. the panasonic really says rush job all over it (as with all their new dvd and cd players) .. they are all awkward to get used to (particularly this one) and sounds and looks anly adequate maybe a little better .. sure, if you are on a budget its made for you but i think the rest of us will have to wait and see if someone gets a 5-disc unit right .. |

Ready for this??? It would be wise to wait, at least until September sometime when the new Sony "200-DISK" DVD player is released. It will hold 200 DVD's and audio cd's too and display the entire collection titles onscreen. It looks like it will go for $799 but you will find it for less out there in net land somewhere. www.crutchfield.com has a picture of it under SONY DVD PLAYERS on their website. DVD on demand! (one star for the Panasonic, hope their listening) |

Substandard picture and sound? Compared to which player may I ask? It's virtually identical to the DVD-A120U and that player has received good reviews all around on this forum and others pretty much. I've seen far worse than what this player has to offer, and it's more than comparable to anything in it's price range. That includes a Pioneer player I liked a lot that it replaced. As for the front panel lights, it is silly that they don't light up properly until each disc is read, but that is nothing more than a minor annoyance to me. Otherwise I have absolutely no complaints and I certainly don't see how you can say the unit has a poor design at all. I think the other poster was referring to the many "it sucks" posts on here that have no merit at all. I'd like to hear which player you ended up going with that is so much better picture and sound wise than this one too because I haven't seen one myself that is in the same price range... |

I'm really not understanding the comments of some on here. It may just be a case of Panasonic since it seems the negative reviews on this player are not very specific in nature other than to say "it sucks". Well, I actually own a DVD-C220, and the picture and sound quality are quite good, disc access is fast, and I've experienced absolutely no problems with any DVD on this unit yet. Functionally it's identical to a DVD-120U and I've heard mostly good things about that player as well. To be able to get a 5 disc DVD changer with these features for under $400 is great. I have no complaints about the price or performance. Other than the thing with the front panel lights (which is NOT anything major) I've not heard any concrete complaints of any consequence about this unit either... |

I posted a note earlier on this unit. Well, I decided to return it before my 30 days was up, that is after seeing the new Sony 650 changer. And the Sony's only $30 more! I also see Toshiba is coming out with a "SIX" changer unit. Iam just glad I sent back the Panasonic... |
