I bought the Sennheiser HD-580/DSP Pro combo for $199. With music, the HD-580's sound extremely full, detailed, and dynamic; in fact, they can be breathtaking. But to be honest for about 1/3 the price you can get very nearly the same sound from Grado SR-60's, which I also own, though the Grado's are less comfortable. Still, as I said the HD-580's are excellent sounding. They are also very comfortable as well as a bargain, especially with the free DSP Pro (which incidentally really works somehow). I can't see giving them less than 5 stars. |

Strength:
Sound, comfort, Value.
Weakness:
none Wow, I'm pleased to find such postive reviews on audioreview.com. The sound these headphones produce truly blows all other headphones away. I can hardly imagine what would sound better. Similar Products Used: headphones that came with a portable panasonic CD player |

Strength:
Great sound and great deals on the DSP pro combo.
Weakness:
Can sound bad without good source. Bought the package deal with headphones and DSP pro, couldn't be happier. Sounds great with just about everything I've listened to so far. The DSP pro does an O.K. job of surround sound, but a five channel setup sounds much better. |

Strength:
Great sound, crip output, Solid bass, very very comfortable.
Weakness:
Big and bulky Got the HD-580 with the DSP Pro for about $270. These headphones are great! Never knew headphones could sound this good! I would almost rate these with the same ouptut as some excellent speakers out there. The bass is great, and the sound is crisp and remarkable. The only concern I have is they are too damn big and bulky. I would def. not wear these in public when commuting in a train or bus!! But the sound is great. |

Strength:
Comfy, precise without being bright,BASS thumps without sounding boomy or sloppy, and the DSP it came with rocks!!!!
Weakness:
would have liked to have had a thicker, more robust phone cord. I initally purchased the 565's but they were uncomfortable,so I returned them.however Iam so glad I did, because a few days later I got this catalog in the mail and ordered the 580's.($199.)These badboys sound fuller and more detailed than the 565's.Also,they came with the DSP PRO wich by itself sold for $279.00 about 6MOS ago.The DSP is perfect for late night viewing, and let me tell yah thi thing does agreat job!! Strength:
Nice enough sound
Weakness:
wire inside has broken so now the cut in and out I suppose the sound was nice enough for the price - not as good as my speakers but i don't have reason to be upset on that score. But after only six months of use they are broken. looks like the wire is so thin that it has snaped inside the plastic Alas, didn't keep every single bit of paperwork - no warrenty work for me. Great sound, Very comfortable

Manufacturing Fault?!?!?! I bought these headphones just over a month ago, and am writing this to warn readers of a problem that I and apparently others here have experienced with these headphones. The right channel driver unit has a lose connection between the cable that plugs in to it. I have not mis-used these headphones anymore than normal use, and still the right socket has come lose. Now the sound occasionally just comes and goes as it pleases. It is for this reason and this reason only i cannot recommend these headphones. I am going to try and get a refund or deduction in price from "superfi" uk, where i bought them. Fingers crossed.... Similar Products Used: AKG cheapo £30 headphones |

I haven't heard every headphone on the market, but did a good bit of listening with my own music to a number of them - electrostat and dynamic both. If there is better overall performance out there without dedicated tube amplification at mortgage the house prices, I did not find it. Very smooth, open and balanced from top to bottom. Other reviewers' comments not withstanding, the 580's do not lack bass. If it is in the recording, it is heard through these 'phones. The HD-600's came after I already was enjoying my music with the 580's, which were so satisfying I have not bothered to go hear them. Maybe I will - some day. Meanwhile, I just wish I could find their equal in speakers (at any price!) These 580's are exceptional - and the best value in all the gear I've had the pleasure to hear. Enjoy the music. P. S. Listened briefly to a $90,ooo Linn system recently. Even that stratospherically priced system did not to my ears better what I am getting out of $200 Sennheiser 580's. |

The 580s are the only piece of audio gear I've ever purchased site unseen (or should I say unheard). If I had to, I would do it all over again. They sound great! I had to purchase them thru a mail-order company because of a lack of dealers in my area. |

These are very high resolution phones, very accurate and detailed, but I found them fatiguing and way too bright -- even through my Musical Fidelity X-Cans tube amp and after several weeks of break-in time. After half an hour into my listening sessions I couldn't wait to take them off my head. I listened with a Rega Planet CD player and Sumiko Project 1.2 turntable through a Musical Fidelity X-Cans headphone amp. |
