Strength:
very comfortable
Weakness:
none yet I bought these cans with the sennheiser dsp pro for $140 shipped from spidergear.com mainly to use for home theater listening. The headphones are very comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time which is needed for movie watching. Combined with the dsp pro (which is a amp with dsp) I doubt there is a better "surround" headphone setup out there. These cans have a open backed design so you do get some outside sound in if it is a noisy room, but for movie watching late at night it doesnt matter. I did a A/B comparison with these phones and the sony 600s (which is a full ear closed design) and the 535s sounded better...more spatial in surrround and better base...and not as "in you face' as the sonys. If you are looking for headphones for home theater the 535s combined with the dsp pro are a great choice, and if you buy the 535s from spidergear you get the dsp pro for $29! Dont pass it up. For $175 CDN, they are the best sounding, feeling, and comfortable headphones I think you can get! I have listened to a lot of headphones in this prices range and have found these to be far superior. Just take listen to Julian Breams : Grand Sonata CD and you'll know exactly what I mean. |

My headphones are actually the HD 540II's, but they're pretty darn similar to the HD 535's. I've had them for about 3.5 years now and they still sound incredible. The part replacement feature is great being that I kick the long cord all the time and had to get a new one, rather than all new headphones...I listen to music in them and also use them in my mini-studio. They're comfortable to wear literally ALL DAY LONG. And the sound! It puts huge speaker systems to shame. These headphones truly do justice to the masters of music production and performance. Every little nuance is there in absolute clarity. I'll put these things on and absolutely get lost in music. For any kind of application, they're perfect. I love using them to show my college friends whose ears have been tainted my "mega-bass" and Aiwa stereo systems what music is supposed to sound like...One more note-I've found that even Sennheiser's less expensive models in the $50-100 range still blow away anything in the price range. |

Question????? Please respond. I was just about to buy 3 sets Sennheiser's 580/600 @ $299 each. Maybe you could help me where to get at best price. I am not an audiophile but need them for therapy for handicapped kids? Also, what portable CD would you recommend & where to buy 3 units. Can they drive the 580/600's OK. We need the upper range of frequencies, mainly. Also, what compact "semi" portable system would you buy for max. $1000 - I was just about to buy a Bose Acoustic wave until I read all the negative stuff about Bose systems in general. It doesn’t have to be portable but easily movable would be nice & simple to set up. Many Thanks. Ken 619-336-7999 or Email me fancy@ adnc.com |

Strength:
Very comfortable
Weakness:
intolerant of bad recording :) Before anything else, I bought these from spidergear (just like Brad, below) for $79 and they slapped a $20 shipping fee on it. I got the whole package including DSP pro for about 140 delivered. I paid $35 shippping, which in my opinion is quite outrageous! Similar Products Used: HD 270 |

Strength:
very neutral sounding
Weakness:
wire/cord seems flimsy. it will eventually fray/break internally which means cutting and soldering. it is replaceable in that the wires unplug from the 2 ear pieces. i guess its then a matter of getting replacement from sennheiser. this is a very neutral/balanced sounding headphone which means it opens up a can of worms. in other words, it will show up the inherent weakness of your headphone amplifier in your cd player, receiver, etc. that's why i am now contemplating a headphone amplifier. possibly the musical fidelity one ($249?) from www.audioadvisor.com. i liked the sound so much, that i bought a second one. ($46 and $49 each plus $4 shipping and handling). the treble is not exaggerated on this headphone and there is plenty of bass though not overemphasized either. nice accurate midrange. like i said, balanced and neutral in sound. I do not own the 535s, but I do own the 525s and the 600s. Both are excellent. I have done some rudamentary A/B ing with both and found that while the 600s are certainly a better pair, the differences are fairly subtle whereas the difference in price is certainly less so. |

A very good choice - The sound is very natural, clean, with a lot of 'air', and it's very comfortable (you can wear it a long time without problem).I rediscovered my CDs with these headphones.Tested with a CD player Marantz CD 63SE.Last but not least : the price is very competitive. |

This is a very good example of value for money. Though it is not the best headphone money can buy, it has little coloration, strong bass, and is very confortable to wear. Its sound is not tyring or disturbing. It is just right and just unexpensive.Great value for money |
