The Denon 5700 IMO has lower build quality than the DSP A1. This is apparant by looking at the front panel of the 5700. It has a plastic front door with very cheap bass/treble/balance knobs. In addition, it has had reliability some problems in its first production run.It is still a very good piece as are all receivers/integrated amps in this price class. However, considering the Yamaha DSP A1 can be had for only $1699 it is a bargain when compared with the Denon 5700 and B&K AVR 202 and Marantz SR-18 given their current pricing. |

I think the DSP-A1 is a fine product and should be praised. I however think that they should include a better remote. |

I have owned a Rx-V992 for the past year which has performed flawlessly. I have now upgraded to the DSP-1 after reading the "intelligent" posts on this forum. You all have given me valuable input to make my decision. I looked at both pieces and really did not see 500 more value in the Denon. That is my opinion folks. Aren't we lucky to have so many good products to chose from? I don't believe that you can go wrong with either unit and I really DON'T know what I would have done if I had no budget restraints. All the stuff is great and I for one will enjoy the wonderful technology that is available to us. |

I really enjoy the DSP-A1 very much and I would wholeheartedly recommend it and rate it 5 stars. However, I am very disappointed with those guys (most likely some sales persons) who sent numerous ridiculous 5-star posts from the IP address - 209.240.200.xx3. I noted these posts few months ago and I used to simply ignored them. However, their recent excessive presence brought to me extreme annoyance. I just do a search on this page and find 14 such posts from the same IP address above. I am most suprised when I find that one of these posts was written by GDS on 29-3-99, which invited others to email him for good price for this product. This recall me some earlier posts against GDS claiming his association with Uncle Stereo (all been removed from this board now). |

This is in response to Alik's posting. Alik, do not be alarmed by multiplepostings from an IP-address. It does not imply that same person is posting them. |

This receiver is to bright and doesn't give you the same capabilities of DENON 5700. |

I just got a DSP-A1 at www.sounddistributors.com best amplifier on the market. Strong and clear. Plenty if in and outs for future expansion. Now I have to get speakers to handle this monster. |

I have had the DSP A1 in my home theater system for about 6 months. I have Klipsch KLF 20 front, KLF c7 centre, KSp C6 surrounds and a KSW 200 subwoofers. The DSP A1 is very easy to use, it encompasses any and all imaginable hookup options. And can be the nerve centre for a very complex system. The 42 DSP modes are okay if one is into experimenting with that sort of thing. For home theater I would give it five stars. However, for 2 channel stereo listening where, tonality, depth and soundstaging matter the DSP fails miserably. The sound has avery forward and bright character and everything sounds thin and sharp. The depth is missing and there is a serious lack of focus. So if good 2 channel sound is must for you look elsewhere. But if you are after a versatile hometheatre product I dont think you will find anything better at this price. |
