The Sharp 32LS400 got a great review in the Sep. 1998 issue of Home Theatre Magazine. After slight adjustments they compared the picture favorably to a far more expensive Sony Trinitron! I checked it out, found that it suited my needs, and picked it up at Best Buy for only $499. Check this one out if you don't need all the bells and whistles of the high priced Sony, Panasonic, etc. Its great value for the price.

Strength:

Outstanding picture

Weakness:

Poor sound

Consumer Reports loved the picture and I do too! For a set with PIP the price was right $499. Has S-VHS/DVD quality image when connected to my Digital Cable. There is some vertical distortion (i.e: vertical lines show some curvature such as found in wide-angle camera lenses) as you approach the edge of the picture but apparently this is a flaw common with most other brands and is not normally noticed. The sound is poor with the built in speakers but it sounds great hooked up to my stereo system. Hope to set up a Home Theater soon!

Strength:

Picture quality.

Weakness:

Hard to find any at this price. Not a ton of extra features.

Excellent picture. Excellent value (picked it up at Sam's Club for less than $450). Nothing else I looked at could come close for the price (even at $200 more in price).

Strength:

Great picture, great price.

None found so far

I bought this set about a month ago to replace my aging 27" console. I did some comparison shopping, looking at the usual - RCA, GE, Sony, Philips, etc. The Sharp was sitting right next to a Sony Trinitron in the store, and IMHO, the picture on the Sharp was better than the Sony. Plus it had PIP, and was less expensive. I bought it at Service Merchandise on clearance for $500, although it sounds as if I could've got it cheaper if I looked around a little further.

I have it hooked up with just a standard roof antennae, and the reception is great. I can't comment about the sound quality, as I have the sound run through my home theater, although the ability to turn off the TV speakers is nice.

I did have to call Sharp's customer service to get some help hooking it up so that the PIP worked properly with my various home theater components. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get through quickly and speak to a real person who helped me set things up.

All in all, I'm very pleased with this set and recommend it highly.

Needed a larger size TV for my "Home Intertainment System"
DVD,VHS. Looked at Toshiba 36A50 but the size to big for my cabinet, and the price a little over what I wanted to pay! I liked Sharp products, our old Sharp 25" lasted eighteen years with one repair. I shopped the "Internet" for the best deal on 32"-36" TV's. I liked the features on the Sharp 32LS400 and the price was right $459.99+shipping Total price $544.95 from iDerive, the new model Sharp 32NS400 has all the same features that the 32LS400 has. But at the time was out of stock. The picture on my 32LS400 is very good, hooked up to Dish Network DSS, but I cannot use the PIP option, with DSS, sound is very good. My son noticed a very faint verical line on the lefthand side of the screen around 3-4" when changing channels or when a dark broadcast show is on. Overall it is a good set for the money, with good features I needed at the price I wanted to pay.
