Strength:

Excellent Picture, very sharp, vivid colours

Weakness:

Speakers

This t.v. is great value for your dollar. I had a 32" Sony Wega and hated it. The picture from my DVD connected via component video cables had a green tint and there was nothing that could be done about it. Looked good on S-Video though. The JVC's colors are fantastic in both S-Video and component. I use the component to play my DVDs. he picture is clear and beautiful.

The only thing I don't really like is the speakers. They sound a little tinny sometimes.

Dear burned in canada,

Try an rf modulator, or maybe an rf splitter?

Don't bash the T.V. just because you don't know how to get all your things hooked up to it. There are ways, like the 2 mentioned above. Give those a try and see if that helps, if not, the more expensive option is a receiver. With your problem it does sound like you would be better off getting a receiver though.

Good luck

Strength:

Great Picture

Weakness:

Poor sound quality (see below)

I like this television alot.
The pictures appeare very life-like.

The only drawback I find is the sound.
Don't get me wrong, the sound is very good.
But once you get bass or higher volumes, (@ volumes settings between 8 and 12), you get the reverberating sound of the plastic cover of the set.....very annoying.

Strength:

beautiful, lifelike, colorful picture. Nice controls, okay remote

Weakness:

scan lines, but you get used to them.

This review is for the 36" version of this set. I have owned it since March. At first, I hated the scan lines, they seemed so visible. Now, I guess I'm used to them, they still bug me sometimes but all TVs have them unless you pay the big bucks for HDTV, etc.

This TV has an utterly fantastic picture! Sure, the clarity crispness and contrast of the WEGA sets will wow you in the store, but get one home and watch it for a while and I think it gets old. A friend has a WEGA set and I watched it for about 2 hours one night and my eyes hurt aftewards! I think some TVs are like many cars, they are designed to hook you in the showroom and then you have to live with their flaws for a long time. The JVC has a beautiful, very lifelike picture. The colors are subtle and blend superbly. It has a great picture on analog cable, DVD, and plain old VHS video. Now, let me say a word about plain old VHS video. Before this set, I had converted to DVD and was sworn to never go back. However, this set will make a video look so excellent, they are great fun to watch! The picture is not quite as sharp as DVD, but on a good video it comes very close! And the colors!! I will often be passing through the living room while my son is watching one of his movies, and I just stop and sit down to watch because the colors and shading and subtle tones are so phenomenal it is fantastic! I can't rave enough about how good this TV makes a plain jane video look! If you have a lot of video movies and want to enjoy them, BUY ONE TODAY!

Strength:

Great picture.not bad price but dissapointing(See below)

Weakness:

The inputs in the rear are horrible.Stay away from it if you need to plug in different components into the back.

This is a great t.v .But for home theatre I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are not enough inputs for the growing demand for digital t.v now. There is only 1 s-vhs input which overriddes your rca inputs on the back????Stay away from it if you have a game system or a digital box from the cable company as there is no way to hook everything up?I am disapointed and now I have seen that jvc has come out with a newer madel with 2 s-vhs inputs.Too bad I guess as we are really all stuck with LEMONS now and jvc dont give a dam.Wish there was a way to hook everything up with out this problem?

Great picture, good/OK sound, almost enough inputs and outputs I think - see below.

Weakness:

inputs?

Hi to all, and a big thanks to the reviews/reviewers in this site - they are what helped me pick out the Toshiba SD2705 DVD player and the JVC AV 32D501 TV I bought this weekend. I am very satisfied with both so far, and look forward to digging in deeper to their features and functionalities in the next couple of weeks. I do have a question for the collective: the 25" 10 yr old TV I have has two coax input terminals so I could run one in directly from the outside, and the other through my cable box on different extensions (1,2). My new JVC only has one, and since P-in-P won't work through the cable box (it sends only a single channel through to the TV), I cannot use this feature. It isn't a big deal, but I would like to enable it if possible. Also, I have my new DVD player connected to the JVC's Component inputs via a Monster cable designed for that purpose, but I have the audio jacks (RCA r/w)connected to my stereos' video audio input jacks via gold connecters/cable - so I can hear my DVD's over the stereo's speakers. The problem here is that now, if I would like to have sound come from both the TV's speakers and the stereos' speakers, I can't. The TV's only RCA audio jacks are connected to the cable box. If both the TV and the DVD player had one more set of RCA audio jacks each I could have the best of both worlds I think. Have I done something wrong in my connections? Is there a better way? You help and answers are appreciated!!!

Strength:

Multiple Plug In's,Picture Quality, PRICE, weight, VERY NICE LOOKING TV

Weakness:

Sound is a little tinny at times, still adjusting though.

This is a very impressive TV,a very wise choice to buy this tv. Picture quality is very close (if not better) to SONY but the JVC offers more plug in options (S-Video, Component Video etc..). I dont know why more people dont buy JVC over SONY. I have owned a SONY and from what I have seen, I paid mainly for the name. Not that SONY isnt good but JVC offers the same for cheaper! Definately compare them side by side, you will be surprised.

Strength:

Picture quality is excellent. It has hookups for ComponentVideo-DVD and S-VHS Vcr. Depth is minimal, it fits my stand very well. 100 pounds lighter than my brothers Sony.

Weakness:

Wish more buttons on remote were illuminated.

I think the picture quality on this TV is excellent. Lots of features for the money. My tapes look excellent on this TV and look forward to the DVD's when I get a player. I am really pleased with what I have recieved for the money I paid. I originally wanted to buy HDTV but after determining buy-in is $1400 for TV and another $700 for decoder, I decided to go cheaper until prices on HDTV and broadcast cable rates drop. Sony WEGA was a great interest, but after comparing the Pictures I decided that
it wasn't worth the extra money for the flatscreen Sony (and its over 200lbs weight!).

Strength:

None

Weakness:

Comb filter is trash. When viewing all sources, especially DVD looks like there's a honeycomb stuck on the front of the TV. Wanted to return 15 days later to HHGregg but couldn't because they wouldn't accept after 15 days (stay away if you ever need to return anything). Compares poorly to Mitsubishi

Stay away from the 32d501 it's no good.

Strength:

Very nice sound, nice visual layout... remote was okay

Weakness:

Picture

After seriously reading reviews of various 32" TV's under $800 my research lead me to the JVC... I started out with the intention of buying a Sony Trinitron but got into the store and was very impressed by the JVC. The color looked reasonably similar to the Trinitron and it sounded much better.

Upon taking it home and plugging it in.. I was quite disappointed. There was too much yellow in the picture and to turn it down I had to take out a lot of color. Additionally the contrast was too sharp... My eyes even hurt a little after watching it. After a few days, I decided I really didn't like the picture. I figured if I'm going to have to live with this set for 5-10 years and I'm complaining about the picture quality now, I'll hate it in the future. So I lugged it back...

I've re-exanmined the Sony Trinitron and even through the sound doesn't compare to the JVC, the picture is substantially better than the JVC (and the other ones I've seen). I've ordered the 32" Trinitron and hopefully it will be okay....

If contrast doesn't bother you and you want really good sound, I'd settle for the JVC. Otherwise my money's on the Trinitron...
