Strength:

The crisp clear picture is amazing! and I'm a direct TV user..seems like I'm watching DVD 24-7

Weakness:

do not try to lift by yourself, blelieve me 1 week bed rest because I thought I was HEMAN..

I like the 32 wega TV..not only is it a good product but it also looks sweet in my rec room-bar room, all my friends love coming over to watch the big fights & sports events..sure it might take away a few pay cheques but either way your going to spend money on a TV, my dad told me once if you are going to buy something, always look into the product, spend the Xtra buck "go big or go home"

Strength:

Excellent picture. Fine looking piece of furniture

Weakness:

HEAVY and awkward. Remote could have a few more features to replace the remote for the cable box completely. I still need to use the cable remote to view the on screen listings.

I've only had this TV for a short while but so far I am very impressed with this product (KV32FS13). First off, the Flat Screen picture quality is not even comparable to the standard picture tubes. When in the store, the Sony Vega just stood out even though there must of been 50 TVs' lining the wall. I hadn't planned on buying a Flat Screen set but the choice was simple when you see the picture quality. One caveat, don't deliver and install this unit by yourself (like I did). Very heavy and awkward as the majority of the weight is in the glass plate in the front of the unit. Once installed, the hookup was relatively easy and so far I haven't had to make any adjustments to the geometry or the colors. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Clear picture, neat audio modes

Weakness:

Overpriced

The 36 inch WEGA does not appear to give a much better picture than other 36 inch Sony televisions. It definitely is not worth the extra several hundred dollars. However, if money is not an issue, this TV does offer a very clear picture and it definitely looks cool as a piece of furniture.

Strength:

The 36XBR is the perfect Television. The most impressive feature is the anamorphic compression which produces window like pictures with compatible DVD's. For its cost, it really is a bargain. The factory settings were near perfect, but use a disk such as AVIA to fine tune the picture and you will be amazed.

Weakness:

There is station naming that only allows you to mname 6 channels?? Why is this Sony?

Great television for the home theater. Cheaper than line doubled rear projection televisions and a crisp clean picture that you can watch during the day. Almost too many toys with the various settings, favorite channels, included wireless headphones etc.... Good buy at $2099 - but better deals can be found. I highly recommend this for a DVD based home theater with component inputs and an Anamorphic DVD. Sounds great with stereo TV signals and adds "width" to mono signals. I leave the volume out and play it through my ES50 most of the time, but it does sound good.

Strength:

clarity, 4 video inputs

Weakness:

Very heavy, 220lbs. The TV hutch has a bow in it now.

We walked into the store with no budget in mind. My wife and I saw this super clear, sharp picture from across the store. I thought it was the HDTV. As we got closer, it was the Sony WEGA 32" set. It was the cleanest image in the store. The tv selection ranged from $200 to $14000, but nothing else really came close. DVD video is stunning. Warning! Once you have one, your old VHS tapes will look down-right primitive.

Hint: Not all S-video cables are the same. For max clarity, get Monster cable. $40

Weakness:

No weaknesses--pay for someone else to lift it.

This is a review for the 2001 KV36FV27. This TV is fantastic. I haven't seen any of the problems highlighted below as far as distortion in scrolling text, dark spots in the corners, distorted straight lines, component input color banding, or geometry problems. Maybe I just got lucky, but my picture is perfect (after tweaking with Video Essentials of course).
I get decent signal quality with digital cable, but dvds really show this TVs strengths when you run your dvd player through the component inputs and set your dvd player to output to a widescreen TV. I'm using a Wireworld Ultraviolet III+ component cable, and it's great.
It's still too soon in my opinion to get a HDTV, but in the meantime you can't do better than this set for the price. You should still do a side by side comparison to the 4:3 Loewe sets if you have money to burn.

hi, i see everyone's review and i have a few comments.

First and foremost its generally a great t.v.! Picture color etc. is fantastic. I had straight cable, and the picture was so fuzzy it looked like it was snowing in Los Angeles. I bought DishNetwork and signal is great, picture quality is great etc.

Sound is Weak. You must hook this up to mini system or a receiver to get "into" the picture.

Perhaps my best experience to this day watching television is with this t.v. If you want a viewing experience of a lifetime, get the GLADIATOR DVD put it on a SONY S560 or comparable dvd player, connect the dvd directly to a mini system or comparable and turn up the volume!

If you watch disc two, "the making of" and "gladiator games," the picture quality is like hi-def t.v. I literally couldn't believe my eyes!! So Crisp and colorful, WOW.

Now to my complaints.
i express the same complaint on the pans from left to right and the "wavy" effect. The picture seems to roll across the screen like a flag. Its pretty annoying.

Also,

Ever since i bought this t.v. it has become harder to watch t.v. My eyes seem to water and get blurry after about a half hour of watching.

I have also noticed a slight "flicker" to the image which can be noticed on still images. (if you have dish ntwk go to a channel with no signal and youll see what i mean.)

Also, if you press the channel up and down buttons that are on the top of the t.v. it distorts the top of the screen.
What the hell is wrong with this t.v.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the wavyness? is this a defect in the t.v. i.e. can we complain, get a new one, get service etc? Can anything be done about it?

Is anyone else getting bad eyesight, or tired eyes by watching the screen too long?

thanks for any info.

Strength:

Flat screen, outstanding color rendition, decent audio.

Weakness:

32FV15: Really heavy (200lbs) but then again, it isn't marketed as a "portable".

We carried it home face-down-- the only way it would fit in my station wagon-- and my wife & I brought it in the house with a dolley and lifted it up onto a stand. It helps to have a wife who lifts weights in the gym every week!
The first thing we saw on-screen after getting it hooked up to the outside antenna and 4DTV satellite receiver was a vintage rebroadcast of a great Roy Orbison concert in black & white. WOW, what a great B & W picture. The blacks were really black and the white didn't bleed or bloom. It reminded me of seeing the restored classic "A Touch of Evil" in a theater a few years ago. Impressive. Color rendition is similarly impressive. It has a crisp, clear, picture with good brightness across the entire screen. No corner shadowing is evident and the screen geometry is excellent. The set is temporarily sitting on top of a Belle Klipsch folded horn enclosure and no magnetic distortion is evident. I simply can't find much to carp about; this Sony WEGA 32FV15 has spoiled me. Watching digital satellite programs on this set is like listening to a very fine stereo-- an enjoyable experience.

Strength:

beautiful crisp picture

Weakness:

difficult to set colors, digital channels and analog channels seemed to differ greatly.

I am somewhat disappointed with the variances in the color when switching between digital and analog channels. I am very happy with the flat screen. I do not have that problem with my Mitsubishi.

The remote to my Sony Wega is also not very user friendly. It is basically all black and somewhat hard to read the fine print. It would be much easier to use with a little color coding.

beautiful color, clarity, hookups and controls

Weakness:

not a straight line in any picture.

There is much to like about this television (KV27S16).
picture is amazing. the the new cabinet is narrower for better fit. HOWEVER, the first KV27S16 2000 model I lugged home arrived with serious color problems and was returned to Sound Advice immediately. the replacement had good color and focus but the scrolling new ticker problem convergence with the 32" and 36" Wegas appears to also be on the 2000 27" models. It isn't terrible, just annoying to me. I am debating whether to exchange for another or go to another brand after so many years with Sony products.
