Strength:

Very smooth, articulate handling of each frequency

Weakness:

Not very strong; can sound boomy if you crank it too loud

I bought this subwoofer looking for a good home theater sub, as well a good music sub. When I connected it to my music stereo speakers (Bose 901-IIs), the most impressive thing was how well it filled in those low frequencies that even the Boses can't reach. It crosses over so smoothly that you think the bass is still coming from your main speakers. It is a very articulate sub, in both the lower and higher registers, with a smooth roll-off curve at the top. For home theater, it performs excellently as well. The test was "The Matrix", and it handled the big helicopter crash scene very well, without sounding to boomy or too heavy. But the surprisng thing that was most impressive were the standard kung fu/machine gun scenes: you could softly feel each punch and kick. It made it very realistic! All in all, this is a very sophisticated bass, especially in this price range.

Strength:

price bass inputs and outputs auto on feature

Weakness:

adhesive rubber feet kept coming off would recommend metal spiked feet for tighter bass

Bought this sub at Circuit City as an open box item for $380 (normal price is $500). For the price, this sub is unbeatable. Great bass response, however you will have to tweak it a little to suit your taste as this sub can sound boomy. Works well with music, but is more suited for Home Theater (as its name states CHT=Classic Home Theater). I had an Energy xl:8 sub, which was great for music but lacked the deep bass for movies

Strength:

Deep low down earthshaking no distrotion bass.

Weakness:

Not recommended for a small room, bass gets too overpowering not letting you listen to your main speakers.

This subwoofer made by velodyne has been an absolute beast in my home. After purchasing it along with a set of infinity il-30's they have become best of friends. This sub is probably the worlds best-valued considering the price and the overall sound. It handles about 400 watts of peak power which is more than enough for a medium sized room and possibly larger. Most subwoofers driver after a year or so loosen and the bass ends up sounding muddy but not these, even now after about 2 years it sounds the same as the time i took it out of the box and hooked it up. The crossover is exremely useful especially when switching from stereo listening to Home theatre listening. It allows you to adjust how deep you want your base to go. Overall this sub i like to call the "ghetto" sub really puts on a show with a decent price.
