I listen to the polk ps250 i believe is the name and a velodyne sub and this thing is up there with them. You can't beat this Sub for the price..You can even hook up another through this one and double the power..i love this thing...

Strength:

Great sound for the price, very low bass

Weakness:

No attention paid to styling

These are just a few words on the Sony sub. My review is posted below these comments in an earlier post.
I'd just like to reply to those folk who are complaining that the US version of the sub only has 120 watts whilst the Canadian one has 150W. Well guys, consider yourself lucky. Downunder in Aus Mr.Sony only thinks we deserve 100W so that's what we get!! A poor effort considering we pay A$400 for the unit (A$499 list price). I'd love to hear the Sony reasoning behind these different power versions for different countries. Perhaps this forum should contact Sony for comments. I love this sub but feel somewhat hard done by hearing of the 50W extra the canadians get.

this subwoofer kicks ass for movies and music.
it shakes my house it adds room filling bass it goes loud without distortion and you can feel the bass i hve this sub right beside our tv i don't think it needs to go into the corner plus this sub could go way down to 20 hz

Strength:

strong loud bass, plays deep if placed in a corner

Weakness:

rolls off around 30hz , cheap controlls
price in canadian dollers $400

awseome sub it's hard to find subs that can play as deep as this one for the price.

also great for home theater the bass was verry deep but it could not do 20hz which it says it does.

cant beat the price.
watch some dvd's you got to work the woofer in for about 1 month before it starts to sound better.

Strength:

Strong, gut-wrenching bass.

Weakness:

Any more tums?

This sub is awesome, and for the price you cannot beat it. While the JBL's are a bit more powerful, I found that the Sony is a touch clearer and the enclosure itself does not sound as if it will rattle apart. I also found that the Cerwin Vega 15' cannot go as low as this (according to stats). And when movies are playing you better be sitting down when you know an explosion is coming cause, how can I put this, it hurts.

Pretty much everything

Weakness:

Nothing so far

Just decided it was time to put together a good Home Theater. I read many reviews on here and decided to piece together a great system rather then buy one of those all in one speaker systems. So far I am very impressed with the SA-WM40. It is ideal for a smaller room, but has the punch to shake the house down. For $150, you get 2-3 times what you pay for.
Here is my specs:
Toshiba 40H80 TheaterWide
Sony STR-DE945 - receiver
Sony SA-WM40 - sub
Sony SS-MF415 - fronts
Sony SS-CR490 - center with rears

Strength:

Gave me a good laugh.

Weakness:

Mislabeled as a "subwoofer".

Just a silly product from a silly company. Forget audiophile, anyone who uses this thing is an audiophobe. Never heard something as sorry as this block of garbage. Now I have to live with the fact that because of a whim, I wasted time in my life to listen, correction, whince at this thing. Too bad you can't give negative stars.

Strength:

Great Bass, Runs Cool, Goes real Low for the money (Great for home Theaters).

Weakness:

Clicks when theres no LFE track. Humms when I turn the reciever off. (doesn't auto shutoff when hooked up to sub out).

Sounds great, goes really low. This unit is fantastic for Home theaters, It shake your house down. If you want a great sounding Sub for a home theater I highly recommend this one. The Amp runs so cool you can barely detect any heat.
