Strength:

Have had some pretty decent subs in the past 20 years and this is probably the most impressive. I understand the boomi-ness some get from theirs, but as always it should be tweaked to every room's characteristics. I've never been able to just stick one of these, no matter how powerful, into an "ideal" spot. That said, I am impressed with what this sub is excellently designed for (whether intended or not) and that is music. I have 4 pairs of high end speakers that I have used this with and I can smoothly integrate it into their specs with very good results. I bought this used and in need of a new surround kit. Did many of these because I own many 1970's and 80's stereo equipment and restorations are a must. If the re-foamed sub is anything like the original condition.....these are very impressive indeed.

Weakness:

Comes on, auto detect, when I turn on my guitar amps and runs until I turn them off. I'm not sure why except it may be triggered by vibration or AC power change. One for the designers to answer?

Strength:

This is quite an amazing sub my dad had it for years then gave it me It was hard finding a fuse for it but I eventually settled for a 2a fuse and it works perfectly Music sounds spot on Movies sound like a real cinema The auto power off is quite cool aswell Paired with my pioneer surround system it is perfect for all ises

Weakness:

Very heavy, has a faint humming sound every now and then and has an issue where most of the models motherboard can burn and break the resistors I got lucky because my motherboard is burned a bit but the resistors still worked I only needed a fuse

This sub is really great for movies and I thought it was the same for music until the amp recently went south and I replaced it with a Paradigm DSP3200 sub. So, now I would have to rate it very good for music. The DSP3200 is much tighter bass on music. But I can not complain. It was one of the first versions and took 20 years for the amp to go. Purchases it as a system and all the other speakers still sing like there is no tomorrow. I am sold on Paradigm.

Thx

The PS1000 has been an integral part of my system and I intend to keep it even tho I have placed an order for a Def Tech Prosub 200TL. The PS1000 is reliable and provides ample, good quality bass for both music and HT if placed and tweaked properly. For some genres of music it could be slow, for home theater a little boomy at times. But overall a rugged, capable sub.

I put the model year as 2005 but to be honest the owner had no idea as he was the second owner. It sounds like this model has been around for over 10 but from some things I have read the earlier versions sounded like the amp was smaller than the 250w I purchased. To be honest after doing to more research I probably could have gotten it for $100-$150 (I paid $185). Nonetheless it seems to work great. I am not an audiophile (if I was I would have bought the newest model with cost being no object), but I have music on in my house almost every minute I am home and awake. I bought this to replace a Definitive sub that the developed a short in the plugs (that I was just too lazy to fix). Thus far it sounds great and is a perfect low cost option to buying brand new. Not only do subs last a long time its my understanding that right out of the box they don't sound as good as they do after some use.
