none Jack why didn't you buy at Mercata.com like so many of us have? Purchased the sub at Mercata two weeks ago for $170 free shipping included. I've upgraded from a KLH 10inch 150 amp sub and the BU-120 makes that one sound like the Garbage that it is. I even paid more for the KLH, $200 at bestbuy a year ago, than I paid for the KLH. Online buying seems to be the way to go, last week Circuit City was advertising the BU-120 on sale at $280. The BU-120 is great in my setup, a Sony DE 835 reciever, Infinity CC-3 center, Infinity RS-3 fronts, and Infinity QPS-1 rears. No Hums, no distortions, no radio stations being heard through the sub, no problems at all. |

Strength:
Good sound for the money
Weakness:
Emits a 60-hz hum when not in use! I bought my BU-120 from an eBay auction and for the money, it cranks. It adds decent bottom although it lacks the most dramatic bottom octave. My only real complaint is the annoying 60-hz hum it emits when not in use. It sounds like a bad filter cap in the power supply. If anyone knows the fix for this please post... it's probably nothing spending few minutes with a soldering iron can't correct. |

Strength:
Impressive looking, cheap, not a bad 1st sub.
Weakness:
Waiting for it to blow up. I got this sub from shoptheglobe.com for $143 shipped, and for the money, the sound kicks. It can fire my wife's knick-knacks right off of the wall at relatively low volume. It does not pick up radio stations, but it does churn out the constant low hum that so many others have complained about. The hum is only noticable to me at night when everything else is quiet. It would have been nice if Infinity had included an off switch, but they didn't so I just run it through a switched outlet for now. This is necessary not only for the hum, but also becaue every once and while this thing will wake up on its own and emit a constant 120 decible roar without being connected to anything. The only fix is to unplug it, wait a few minutes then plug it back in and it will work OK. Great quality here. My major complaint about this sub is the lack of any factory warranty from Infinity. I'm sure most (if not all) of the people who purchased this sub off of the internet assumed that it carried the full Infinity warranty. I contacted Infinity CS after reading the previous post and can verify that the warranty is invalid unless these subs are purchased through an 'authorized internet retailer'. That is total BS and I'm going to try and file a complaint with the BBB; we'll see how far I get with that. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions about this so-so sub. Strength:
decent bass
Weakness:
amp blows up, humm, terrible infinity costumer service, does not turn off decent bass for the buck but like everyone else, mine stopped working just before the warranty ran out! loud noise, neighbors thought the house was on fire. it took almost 6 weeks to get it repaired. infinity was very unhelpful with its custumer service. bottom line dont buy this subwoofer if you have a choice Similar Products Used: none |

low price
Weakness:
none i've been using a pair for almost 14 mos.(1 was bought 3 mos later than the other)haven't noticed any smoke, hum or RF noise so far.both are connected by monster cables from split line outs on my yamaha dsp-a1,they're also plugged into a radio shack ht line conditioner.i have them set up with 1 behind the couch (left) + 1 between the front spkrs and (right)couch.i'm using infinity composition prelude fronts and composition center, rears are a pr. of rs-5 + pr. of us-1 for front effects.though the preludes have powered subs, the bu-120s does a great job of augmenting lfe on ht use. i never use them on music because of the preludes.very dynamic with movie soundtracks & live concerts from dvds and dbs.hope i don't experience the same problems as other reviewers since tey're over a year now!! Strength:
not very many, I guess its easy to get service on it
Weakness:
The thing blew-up after 8 months Paid over $200 for this sub about 8 months ago when it first hit the stores. It worked ok, except for the constant hum that was not so loud that it bothered me, but loud enough to worry me. Well, I wrote infinity, and they claimed that they didn't know anything about the humming and that its a quality product. Similar Products Used: Klipsch, M&K |

Strength:
nice tight bass/at 150 watts doesn't distort at high levels. small volume increase is needed to give a high level of sound.
Weakness:
don't think this is really a weakness, but it does have a very low hum when not operating.can only hear it if you are on the floor, within a couple of inches from it.insignificant very nice overall/would recommend.very good for quality systems/good for large rooms Similar Products Used: infinity bu 80 |
