Strength:

Seamless sound, stellar looks and cost

Weakness:

Sub won''t reach subterranean levels; center could be a bit more robust but all in all, a very satisfying product

I debated a number of $1,000 systems (Aperion, Axiom and Paradigm)and finally settled on the AR HC6 system. Part of the debate settled on cost, though that was not the primary motivating factor. Another part of the debate was on looks, as large bookshelf or self-standing speakers would have marginalized the look of our home theater area, which doubles as a family room. I purchased the AR HC6 based on two outstading reviews, some online reviews, the looks of the speakers and finally the system cost. I am very happy with the system, which I primarily use for home theater but which also doubles as my secondary room for music listening. Individually, I don''t believe the satellites would blow you away but as an ensemble they work nicely. The sub, which now earth shattering, produces appropriate bass and when properly positioned, is a seamless partner to the sats. I am very pleased with the AR HC6. They look gorgeous, have broken in suitably and, perhaps most importantly, are even appreciated by my spouse, who often claims I must have the hearing of a dog in order to appreciate the subtelties of music that I hear (and which she doesn''t!) I use the AR HC6 with an Outlaw 1050 receiver and Toshiba DVD player (2700).

Strength:

Beautiful boxes, great center speaker, kickin'' sub-woofer.

Weakness:

None

After a lot of research on this site (thank you all), and a fair amount of listening, I was finally swayed by a very favorable article in one of the audiophile magazines to give the AR HC6''s a try. I use them almost exclusively for home theater. My music system is completely separate. I had listened to comparably priced Mirage, Polk, and Harmon Kardon systems. The AR''s beat everything soundwise (though the Polks were close), and are beautiful boxes to boot! I needed small boxes for my room (spousal requirement). The room is fairly large with a high ceiling. I run them through a Yamaha RX V-620. The center channel sound is incredibly crisp, the powered sub-woofer rocks the whole house, though I think some folks get a bit over-enamored with a big booming effect that is more like a car stereo than a home theater. The mains and rears are seamless, very accurate, and completely fill the big room without crapping out at high levels. I''ve heard better (B&W) but at twice the price. As both the amp and the speaker break, it can only get better. I go with 4 stars instead of 5 because I think people have inflated the rating system on this site. I couldn''t be happier with the product.
