Weakness:

unrefined, muffled, dull compaired with other makes for same price

big nice looking boxes, no real sound stage and refinement,ok for people who like to rattle the house to bits.

Used with AA DLC preamp, AA DTI plus DA converter, Audio Source Amp One amplifier, the TDL presents precise image, full sound stage and thunderous bass. I have the speakers for 5 years. I will have another amplifier to drive the speaker's bi-amp inputs.

I totaly agree with the people bellow its a great pair of speakers.and i have tested alot of different speakers now the last month or so..

First i was set on buying a pair of Dali 505/606/808 they sounded great.. then I tried a pair of Acoutsic Energy L109 and relized that the the Dalis really missed a whole lot of detail. So then i was prety set on buying a pair of AE L109. which cost about 625 US $ (yea its real expencive here) i listend to the AEs some more. and when back to the shop that had the dails and he also promed some from their red line. the Dali 450 and 850. the 850 is pretty good. but cost around 987 US $ which was a bit to much for me.. i really didnt want to spend more then 650$ so the dali 850 was out of the Q. and the dali 450 wasn't that good. i think the AE L109 is better.. Only prob with AE L109 is that it only goes down to 55 hz. which isnt very low and you loose out on some bas. but the overal experience was still better then the dalis. so i went to another Hi-fi store and they had some TDL RTL-3 but ther price was 940$ wich to me was way to high but i still listened and compared them with a pair of AE L109 and found that the RTL-3 had everyting that the L109 lacked and more. and gave a very deep and good bas and played real well at low voluems too. so i left think i had to save some more money. but had one more shop to go to.. but it was 110 km away but i still went and damn good i did.. becuse in that shop i found a pair of RTL-3 on sale for only 680$!!! and the choice was made they were to be mine!!
and they run very good with my Onkyo TX-8211 Reciver. And not to mention the RoseWood finish looks very nice.. over all the speaker is very appealing to the eye also. :)

and im very very happy with this buy.. specialy at that price.
so i can do nothing else but to join in the 5 star orgie..

Strength:

Excellent bass, price (only £400), healthy mid range, work well even with cheap cables.

Weakness:

Incredible lack of sensitivity to higher quality equipment (hence why sound is still ok with cheaper cable), you will never hear the full musical story through these speakers as they are not fidelity but if you are a dance fan or listen to such bands as Skid Row (who base their entire appeal on the large scale of the sound) you will love them. I also found the treble a little fizzy and bright.

The majority of this review has already been mentioned in the strengths and weaknesses sections.

In comment to there attributes in comparison to the B&W's, The B&W's are a much better speaker in terms of detail, the treble is far more refined for example, and anybody wanting to upgrade could do worse than try these if they adore the bass of the RTL'sbut want more refinement.

Do not get me wrong, the RTL's are very good speakers and I can not think of anything else for the money that can provide such collossus sonic scale and depth of bass, but when one begins to move up the audiophile ladder they are somewhat limited. I mention the B&W's because these are the speakers I have invested in now and I find hem a natural progression from the RTL's.

Similar Products Used:

None, the closest would be the B&W DM603 S2's.
