I have been reasonably happy with the Titan speakers, but they do sound a bit boomy to me. A few people have said that the Titans are quite choosy about positioning. I also think that it is also related to the acoustics in my room, as I have them near a corner.

They sounded better in the purpose built room in the shop. Of course, I was listening to a laserdisc through an expensive reciever. However, they do sound clear and can go quite loud. They certainly add a new dimension to my video watching.

I have bought my video, reciever and speakers first, so I haven't had a chance to try the speakers out at home with a digital source. As soon as my budget allows, this situation will be rectified with a CD player.

Overall, 3 stars.

Strength:

The price, The power, the quality.

Weakness:

No problems.

These Speakers Rock! Nothing in the same price rang can outperform these speakers. After breaking in a few months, these speakers sounded great. They are hooked up to a stereo reciever which is also connected to a HiFi VCR. Movies thunder, Music sounds as clear as the performance. You can not place these seakers near a wall or to high. Tweeters at listening level ans speakers centered away from walls balances any base problems.

Strength:

Nice balance if you have the crossover set higher. Very pleasing sound that doesn't cause fatigue like the other speakers did.

Weakness:

you have to order paradigm from your area code so online ordering is pretty much out of the question

I decided my pro's music capability was too poor to stand anymore. So i decided to upgrade the fronts with some paradigm titans. Now not only do they sound 10x better but the midrange is balanced and they really pound. I recommend this speaker wholeheartedly to anyone.

Great sounding speaker!

These speakers rock. I really like them. I had some cheap speakers with my previous receiver and they sounded bad. I decided to upgrade my whole system. I wanted speakers worthy of my receiver so I decided on Paradigm. They sound great and great price. Very clear.

Strength:

Great sound, Crisp bass (not boomy) very good highs.

Weakness:

Midrange could be a little stronger.

I bought these speakers 3 days ago and am in love with them.. They sound better once they get broken in. Compared to my fathers Bose system, these 2x better at 1/10th the cost. My brother has B&W 601s and the difference is that Paradigm makes their speakers more subdued in sound and not as bright. You are less likely to get fatigued listening to them. If you want better bass, get a sub, but if you want all around good sound, and don't care, get these wonderful speakers.

Grills are not removeable

I'd been considering delving in to the world of mid hi-fi for awhile. I had been listening to a Fisher Rack system along with the book shelf speakers included (2-ways with 8" woofers) and a set of Optimus 3 ways with 15" woofers. This was my college system for 5 years. After much reading from this site and others, and discussion with an audiophile friend, I decided to opt for either the Paradigm Atoms or Titans. I first auditioned the Atoms with a c.d. of sound effects, rock, country, rap, etc. The receiver was a Marantz with 100 watts x 2. They had impressive sound quality and a respectable amount of bass. Then the salesman hooked up the Titans and I was really blown away! I had never heard this much sound from a speaker this small. They were extremely clear, imaged well, and thumped for such a small speaker. (yes I'm someone what of a bass head). I decided to buy them right then. Came home, hooked them up, placed them on Target FS 28" stands, stands, broke them in, and I am now very pleased. They project voices unbelievably, and pick up the tiniest of detail. Movies sound awesome also. They do not have quite as much bass as I would like, but this probably due to the fact I am still using the Fisher component system. I plan to upgrade to either a Denon AV receiver or integrated amp, new cd player, and pick up a Paradigm sub as well in that order. I will post another review when I upgrade my sources. But for now I am very pleased considering the price, and look forward to coming home just to listen to music again.

PS. I auditioned a pair of the Home Theater Direct 300 series and they just couldn't compare for sound quality.

Equipment:
*Fisher 100 watt x 2 (supposedly) Component System with 24 disc cd player
*Apex 600 DVD Player
*Paradigm Titans
*Radioshack 18 gauge core wire (recommended by stereophile believe it or not)

Strength:

Low bass extension, wide spectrum range

Weakness:

kinda sound congested for dialog in HT

After sick of listening to my BOSE AM-5 for several years, I finally went out and got the Titans. Who would've thought that these $200 speakers would significantly outperform the BOSE AM-5 in so many ways.
Bass extension is exceptionally low (said to go down to 50-60 Hz). The 6" driver covers lots of frequency range. After doing some placement tweaking, I'm convinced that it is good for both music and HT.
The only thing is, better get the CC150 (or is it CC170 now?) for the center channel, because the titans themselves kinda sound congested for dialogs in phantom mode.

Strength:

To many to list

Weakness:

None

Usage 90% Music 10% Movies
Current Setup -- 4 Titan V.2's, CC 170, and a MB Quart D1200 Si thru a Denon AVR2800.
12 gauge speaker wire and run of the mill interconnects
(Last sound gear purchased in 1982 and I ain't Daddy WarBucks, you know where I'm coming from)
Listen to the Boston Acoustics Micro 90's vs. DefTech Pro 80's vs. DefTech Pro 100's.
At that time I was receiver shopping and held off on a speaker purchase due to lack of funds.
During speaker research on this site , I checked the marketplace and found and bought my first 2 Titans from Hawkeye Audio( 5 months used) for a $170. I feel head over (ears)heels in love with these puppies, so much so I found a local dealer and ran out and grabbed 2 more as soon as funds (overtime) were available.
They sound absolutely fantastic at either low levels and just as great when I take the 2800 to near max volume. I highly recommend these speakers if you don't have a lot of bucks to spend and want unbelievable sound quality. Do your ears and wallet a favor and check out these rockers, I'm sure glad I did. When I can afford to in a year or so I'll trade these in on Paradigm's Active Series, in the mean time enjoying affordable audio heaven.
Who knows I might break out a movie eventually--not!

Strength:

Great Imaging, superb Bass for a small speaker

Weakness:

I don't have two more for my rears.

I'll be honest, I'm 17 years old, and 7 months ago I decided to get a cool "mini system" to hook up for my videogames. I liked how minisystems have flashing lights and big silvery speakers on the side. My dad was with me when we went to a local HiFi shop, and he tried to convince me otherwise. I really didn't know much about Stereo equipment, but the little black Titans didn't seem that impressive as the big silver things, and the subtle orange display on the Yamaha receiver didn't have nearly as much cool movement. However, I found it odd that the salesman was also trying to sell me on the receiver/speaker package even though it amounted to some $150 less! I took the set home, hooked it up and got my socks blown off.. Since then I have heard other pricier systems and can honestly the tight bass and crystal highs on the Titans are incredible even when compared with far higher priced speakers...kudos to Paradigm!
