Strength:
Jules obviously is listening to these speakers through some crap equipment. These speakers are smooth, clear accurate and have excellent detail and imaging and tight, accurate base response, awesome soundstage.
Weakness:
NONE I have compared these speakers with much more expensive ones and found these much better. Vocals are very real and smooth, good inner details and instrument overtones. Similar Products Used: B+W |

Clarity Imaging and tight bass, Veneer finish
Weakness:
Reading reviews like Jules I drove 2000 miles round trip to get a great pakage deal on a complete Paradigm system. Got the Studio 60's Studio CC Pw-2200 and mini monitors and Premeir J-60 stands for $2200.00 total, and was worth every mile. I have never loved listening to music like I do now. Cranking the Eagles "Hell freezes over" Brings a smile to my face every time on this Paradigm system with the clarity and accurate sound. P.S. Cerwin vegas? Polk R40's? What the Sam Hell is Jules Smoking in that basement!!! Similar Products Used: B & W Swan Diva's |

Strength:
Good value for the dollar. For those who like their speakers a little on the bright side.
Weakness:
Designed to sound best with grills on (really a strength but I like to look at the speaks when playing) Overall, a very good buy for the money. List at 1200/pair and I estimate I got around 20% off when I bought this the package with DVD and Receiver. A little harsh at first but now breaking in and they are as smooth as a baby's but (so to speak). Really smooth bass response with the 6.5" drivers (even at high volumes). I listened to these speakers today for the first time and REALLY loved them. I compared these side by side with the B&W DM 603's and the B&W 804's. I had high expectations for the B&W 603's but was not impressed. The treble and mid range were adequate but the bass was very muddied and shallow. The Paradigm studio 60's blew them away and probably should for the $400 difference ($1400 for the studio 60'2 vs. $1000 for the 603's). There is no question which sounds better. The 60's were perfectly balanced througout. I really want to buy these speakers now. The B&W 804's sounded a little better than the studio's but for the extra $400 ($1800 a pair) I couldn't justify it. |

I just love these speakers. After listening to Acoustic Energy 109E's, Mirage FrX - 7, OM-12, Missions and B&W's, I choose the Reference 60's. The clarity in high, mid-range and bass is tight and superb. The definition through all types of music, jazz, rock, reggae and classical is beautiful. As I have been breaking them in over the past two weeks the sound and listening pleasure has only improved. These replaced a pair of Celestion-Dittons, which I had for over 18 years. However I was ignorant of the importance of cables and interconnects and lament that much of that time listening was hampered by poor wire. With DH Labs speaker cable and interconnects my system is performing with complete satisfaction. With a NAD 304 integrated amp, 523 CD player, Thorens turntable, I'm re-discovering the sounds that had laid hidden for years. At this rate I won't have to replenish my music for sometime. The visuals on the Paradigm product, I have the black ash veneer, are also very stunning. Check out the Reference 60's if you have the chance they represent true value for the money. |

I purchased these speakers about a month ago and nothing I've heard to before or since compares to them within this price range. I previously owned the Paradigm Monitor 9s and while they were fair, the difference between the Monitor 9s and the Reference Studio/60s is absolutely incredible. The Monitor 9s were in retrospect flat sounding (i.e. little imaging), the bass was not tight nor well defined, the tweeters were somewhat bright and they had less control. Of course, they are relatively inexpensive too but I simply was not prepared for the amount of difference. |

Great pair of floorstanding speaker for the price, I got em in NYC for $1000. Very detail and rich with really tight bass, though some of u might prefer looser puchier bass if hip hop/rap is your main genre of music. Sub is not required and I actually prefer my subs off when playing music. Only gripe about these speakers is that paradigm allow these speakers to go really low around 30hz which is great if u're not trying to turn the volume up to ear splitting levels which i like to do at times, but the speakers can't handle that kinda bass at such high volumes, i had to turn my speakers on SMALL (cuts off from preamp at 80hz) if i want my neighbors across the street to hear my techno/house music and use my sub to compensate. |

I bought my Studio 60's about 2 months ago, and am very satisfied. They are paired in my system with the PW-2200 sub, NAD 317 int. amp, and the AH! Tjoeb CD player. I have them bi-wired with XLO ER-12 cables. These are very natural, smooth dynamic speakers. The midrange is especially sweet; I swear it sounds as though the performers are in my room. If you're not a bass fanatic, you may not need a sub; but I feel that this combination (with the PW-2200 sub) gives everything a VERY solid bottom end. These speakers are (I believe) perfect for my listening habits (classic rock, jazz, blues) in my room ( 18'x15'x8'). For the price of these, I don't believe you can go wrong. |
