Strength:

Great sound, price, tight bass, excellent imaging

Weakness:

none so far

Paid $750 at a local stereo shop and am very please so far. These speakers sound great! Bass is tigh, highs are not too harsh, mids blend very nicely. Definately a steal in this price range. I listened to a lot of different speaker models in the sub $800 price range. None had the clarity and smoothness that these speakers have. Definately give these speakers a listen, they are worth every dollar.

Strength:

deep bass, high treble, great accoustics.

Weakness:

couldn't find any, maybe some midrange lake.

Those speakers just g-r-e-a-t!!!. I've been at the store for almost 3 hours, listening to lot of speakers, and finaly choose those. those speakers handle very nice with all kinds of music. I mostly like pop, and the idea of 4 woofers (8" each) and 2 twitters who jump forward and backword none-stop, sounds just great...
Those two huge speakers, removes by Rotel RB-971 Amplifire and Rotel RC-971 preamplifire. This combination sounds great.
If you want great speakers, i admierly recomend those Paradigm.(but don't buy them for the price like i did...)

I've been selling Paradigm products for over a year now, and it is obvious that the Monitor 9 ranks among some the best well-rounded speakers made, period. In the time I've been around them, they have continually impressed both myself and all but a very few Bose suckers- I mean- customers! Paradigm recently won, for the 10th consecutive year, awards pertaining to customer satisfaction, QUALITY, price/performance ratio, and a host of other real-world, important categories. All Paradigm products are excellent; you have to decide your application and pick accordingly. As for the 9s, when set up properly, these speakers will (or could be) the last you will buy, EVER, in the sub-$2000/pr. category. I've heard my customers say that, and I feel that way as well. I will not reiterate the positives expressed elsewhere in this review. These are the facts, Martin from Hyannis, and are not subject to interpretation!

I've had my Monitor 9 for about 8 month now..What can i say, Monitor 9 sounds super..
Followings are the reasons why I like my Monitor 9:
1. It gives a rich full bass.
2. it gives a crisp treble..
3. Very vesitile.. You can use this speaker to listen Jazz, Hip Hop, Classic..
It would not let you down

Although people say M9s have so so mid-range sound, but I think it sounds so good. when i listen a female artist CD with M9, She sounds virtually real.

I really cannot say any bad thing about my Monitor 9...
Simply a beautiful set of speakers

I've had my Monitor 9s for 2 months now and am very satisfied with them. They seem to get better with time. Many people are saying that they are 'bass heavy' but I guess it depends on the room or the receiver because I don't have that behavior with mine. The price is great (paid $650CDN + tax). The only thing I don't like about them is that the vocals are kind of 'nasal' (I tried them with 2 different receiver brands) and for that reason I will only give it a 4 stars.

I upgraded my hifi earlier this year and considered the Monitor 9`s and Kef Q35`s. I decided on the Monitors as the bass sounded fairly dead on the Q35`s. When I set them up at home (Marantz CD 67 OSE with Arcam 8R amp), they were too bass heavy (my room is fairly small with a wooden floor). To improve the sound, I have since bi-amped using Arcams 8P and placed the speakers on concrete slabs. The resulting sound is now fantastic. Bass control is tight and the sound image is as good as Iv`e heard.
I would recommend these speakers to anyone but would say that to get the best from them, bi-amping is needed.

Strength:

Complete Clairty, Tight full bass, accurate sound through the spectrum

Weakness:

NONE !!! Well they need more dealers... I'm in Chicago and their are only two that I can find.

How come no one told me how great these speakers are. Only partially joking. Over the past month and half I have listed to at least 15 different brands of speakers. And although I have heard a few.. very few.. maybe 2 that come close to providing the musical reproduction and clarity of this speaker, they all cost more per speaker than the Monitor 9 per pair.

I was very interested in the Acoustic Research 328's and 428's, which are nice sounding speakers and have a very attractive price, but honestly don't hold a candle to this pair. Neither do the myriad of Infinity speakers (including up to their Overture 3 units), Jamo, Klipsh, MK, Polk Audio.. the list only goes on.

You will be absolutely astounded at the clarity of sound that are produce through the spectrum as well as truly surprised at the amount and quality of bass supplied by this "simple" 3 speaker / 3 way product. Although I will be purchasing a subwoofer for Home Theater for just that tiny extra punch, these units will supply as much bass as your music can supply and 95% of your home theater as well.

The next best speakers I have auditioned compared to these were the Boston Acoustic 965's and Definitive Technology. Another wonderful set of speakers, but I don't believe worth the extra $300 to $600.

I don't think I can be happier with a pair of great speakers @ their $750 (retail) or $2500 speakers I compared them too. Paradigm has a new customer, make that two, my brother heard mine today, getting a pair next week.

$750 bucks, not cheap, but one hell of a bargain.

I originally picked up a set of Phantoms, but i returned them because the Monitor 7 and 9's were on sale. after listening to both, i have to say that the 9's have a much fuller midbass/midrange. i picked up a set of 9's for $688CDN (about $450American). How's that for value?

When i got them home, i was a little surprised at how bright the highs were, but they are mellowing a bit.

the midrange is sweet, warm, tight and accurate. bass is pretty good - you can get away with not using a sub.

what got me about these speakers is their ability to reproduce detail and how spacious they sound. i've yet to come across anything in this price range that comes close (just don't audition Totem's before taking these home and you'll be happy).

Value = 5 stars
Overall = 5 stars (despite a somewhat overly bright tweeter)
