Strength:
Solid powerful bass,smooth midrange,nuetral highs
Weakness:
None These speakers are simply amazing.Nice solid construction.I chose the black ash.Nice finish, they look cool with the grills off. The new monitor 9's have a larger encloser with a tweeter that can handle more power than the older version. As for the sound, unbelievable. The bass is tight and powerful. The mids are smooth and blend nicely with the highs which are nuetral, not bright at all.I have the 9's mated with the cc350 and the ps1000 driven with a Yamaha rxv-995.I'm very happy with this combination.Soon to get Paradigm surrounds.Every thing sounds good with music and home theater. As soon as I got everything hooker up,we watched the Patriot.Blew me away! Bought everything at Natural Sound in Kitchener Ont.Can. The sales and service is exellent! Similar Products Used: None |

Everything Great, great speaker. You cannot find a better speaker at this price or even twice this price. Vocals are crystal clear, bass is full and tight, and they just pull you into the music. Wonderful speaker, anyone who is looking to spend less than 1500 should give it a try. Similar Products Used: PSB Image 4t, Optimus |

Strength:
Nice natural full sound, floorstanding, cost, PARADIGM!
Weakness:
Could use some more BASS I bought these speakers for 799 CND on sale from 900something plus they were floorstanding, only on display for bout a month so i got an extra 5% discount. A really big step up from my cheap pioneers. The bass has very good impact and the speakers sound very natural. When getting into the lower frequencies im not getting the clear bass i do with my pioneers probably needs some more breaking in. If you live in Canada theres no substitution for Paradigm look no where eles were getting half the price the ppl in states are and they think its a good value. none I was looking for a high end speaker system to use in my home theater, and for general music listening. After a lot of research and speaker auditions, the Monitor 9 came out on top. At first I wanted the Legends, but for about the same money, the Monitor 9 is a far better speaker. It doesn't have the base that the Legends throw out, but it is superior in every other way, and it's base is definately more than enough, although I do plan to add a sub eventually. The chrystal clear mids and highs are much better then all of the PSB's I listened to, and the base is better too. Nothing against PSB, they are excellent speakers, they just cost too much. I thought the Monitor 11 produced a slightly more full, complete sound, but not enough to justify the extra money. So far I am extremely please with the Monitor 9, and highly recommend them. They produce excellent sound and excellent value. Similar Products Used: Sony, PSB Image 5T, PSB Image 6T, PSB Stratus Bronze, Paradigm Monitor 11, Paradigm Monitor 7, Paradigm Legend |

EXCELLENT PRICE, Beautiful midrange
Weakness:
May be a little boomy, but I have only found this on certain albums. Classical, opera sounds GREAT! I was looking around for my first "real" set of speakers, and came across these. Compared to others in the shop, for the same price, they are hands down the best. I compared them for a long time against the monitor 7's, and they just seemed more full, more of the music showed up to the party. (But the 7's are great, as well, just not as full) I have them on the JVC RX9000VBK receiver, and they capture the digital signal processing effects incredibly well. Classical and opera and jazz sound great, haven't had the chance to really rock them much, but JCM sounded excellent. Similar Products Used: Not Much, I'm a rookie |

None I’ve been in the market for speakers for approximately three months. I was willing to spend up to $1,200 for a pair of floor standing loudspeakers. I auditioned Def Tech’s 2006tls, Boston Acoustics VR965, Paradigm Monitor 9s and Paradigm Studio 60s. They were all auditioned using my music, meaning the music that I listen to regularly, I think that is extremely important. Not only would I use these speakers for music but they would also be used for my home theater set up. The DTs were the first pair that I listened to and I was impressed, I started to believe all the hype that was associated with these speakers. The bass was great the midrange wasn’t muddled and highs were excellent. I then listened the Bostons and I was totally blown away by their sound, they put the DTs to shame so I was sold on the Bostons and was prepared to buy them until I went to another shop and asked what they had that was comparable to the Bostons and Def Techs and they showed me the Paradigm line. I was initially shocked by the bass response of Monitor 9s I thought the salesman had a sub-woofer on while I was listening. I was wrong, I was thoroughly impressed by the bass these speakers put out of an 8” woofer, its unreal and I listen to R&B, jazz and Hip-hop primarily. I then listened for the mids and tweeter and I was equally impressed. I thought I had gone to heaven these speakers were amazing. I then listened to the Studio 60s, part of Paradigm’s reference line, hoping to justify the additional $$ to buy them. I’ll admit, I thought the highs were better on the Studio 60s but that was about it. I thought the midrange was comparable but truly believed the bass on the Monitors was better. It was deeper and had snap. My buying decision was becoming simple the Monitors were the speakers for me. The bass, the mids, the highs and finally the price they were $250 less than their nearest competition the Bostons, I’ve owned my Monitor 9v2 for about a week and I couldn’t be happier. none that I have found. Maybe the looks of them a little generic. :) I have used these speakers for just over a month. I am really enjoying listening to all of my albums and they sound great at lower volumes as well as higher volumes. Similar Products Used: None these are my first pair of floorstanding speakers. |

Strength:
Highs, Tight bass.
Weakness:
Harsh before break in. No super low bass. Loaned my mini monitors to a friend for a week and brought the mains from my HT system into my bedroom. (JBL HLS 620s) When I brought the mini monitors back in I decided that I wanted bigger speakers for my room. :) Similar Products Used: JBL HLS series, Paradigm mini monitors. |

Strength:
Great economic speakers for music
Weakness:
None I found these speakers quite comparable to the Paradigm Monitor 90P v2 for listening to music, at half the price. (I have no doubt that the 90P would fare a lot better for home theater use, but I needed a new pair of speakers for music mainly.) The Monitor 9 v2 produces very nice, crisp, clear sound across the board and is a steal for this price. I am very happy with the purchase. I cannot comment on the home theater performance of these speakers, since I have another setup for that, but I would be surprised if they were rated less than excellent in their price range.
