Strength:

None really, basic speakers with an aggressive sales pitch

Weakness:

Word of mouth, suspicious behavior by the company itself.

Mine don't sound that bad, better than my friends rack system pioneers. But not as good as my fathers yamahas.Until nuance stops the slimy sales pitch and gives consumers some actuall specs,a wise consumer is best advised to stay away from them and purchase(or at least look at) a more respected name.Never mind the childish banter of those other reviews use YOUR OWN judgement.

Strength:

verry sharp sound, great in the mid to high range

Weakness:

weak bass and there too expenseive

All I can go by is my ears because dont have any techincal info on then. the star 2 speakers sound great, they're way sharper sounding than my jvc towers. there verry good in the mid to high range, but the base is a little weak. just for notes I 'm running on a pioneer reciever with 100 watts per chanel, so it isn't like I cant power them.
As for the price, if you dont happen to be friends with the son of your regional nuance manager, which I found out I was after I shelled $700 for the pair. As Homer Simson says, "DOH!". They're just to damned expensive. for the same price as a couple of nuance towers ($2500)+ you could pick up a pair of whorfedales, which undoubtedly are better speakers.

Strength:

extremely versatile. I've heard these speakers played over $3000 amps all the way down to the minisystem in my room with a mere 40 watts. They sound great on anything!

Weakness:

if your more concerned with specs and anything written on paper instead of how the speakers actually sound you're out of luck.

Last boxing day on the busiest shopping day of the year i strolled into my Nuance dealer and looked around. What caught my eye was the room full of thirty-some-odd speakers. on my own i started to listen to one of the cds i'd brought with me. at one point a salesperson did pop in to see if i needed some help. I told him i was looking for some speakers for less than $1000. He tried to show me the $3000 tower speakers but i told him i couldn't afford them. he told me they had a program where i could upgrade my speakers from time to time. In other words, i could buy some cheap speakers for now until i had the money. I started with the bottom of the line advantage system. less than a year later i now own the tower speakers->spatial 3E, and use the star2's for rear speakers, a spatial centre speaker, and for the bass i have, what else, the spatial sub. if not for the trade in program i would have been stuck with speakers barely worthy for background music let alone home theatre. I'm especially pleased with the sub. It's sounds as deep and loud and clean as any other sub i've heard, even Velodyne's top of the line models. The spatial 3E's(which cost me about $1000 canadian) in my opinion deliver cleaner sound than some $6000-$7000 speakers like Definitive Tech's BP3000's or even the movie theatres around my home.
The rear speakers still make me look around to see if the sound is from the speakers or not, the Spatial 3E's make the walls of my small room(10' X 15') disapear, the sub makes the whole house shake, and the centre speaker keeps my eyes locked on the screen. I wouldn't trade them in for speakers that costs 10 times more.

Strength:

highly efficient, solid cabinets, decent tonal accuracy

Weakness:

I dont buy into the sales pitches they throw at you, The "spatial" sound experiance is a crock,

I know there are alot of Nuance haters out there,,,I ask them, why??? obviously the salesman are ignorant with claims that nuance possess the best sounding speakers around, however I feel depending on the deal you get from the sales rep you can get alot of bang for your buck.
Several people have posted claims for low efficiency rating.
Let me tell you this,,efficiency rating is not an accurate way of measuring sound quality,,those who think it is, well your opinions are null and void,,proving how ignorant you actually are. Im quite happy with my setup, for you morons out there they do play quite loud, yet unlike most "mid fi" products sound good while doing so. Amidst all the bashing of this company,,we are all forgetting one thing, sound is a personal experiance, we all hear differantly,,some prefer a warmer rolled off treble, others like a more extended treble,,these speakers produce an extended treble,,but not to the point of "ear piercing" I refer this speaker as a cerwin vega dipped in gold,,,with the ability to produce high SPL as the cerwin, yet having a solid housing for the drivers,, and a decent port configuration. This equaling richer sound in the bass region,,and less resonance (cabinet vibration,,port noise) the average consumer will be totally satisfied with this product,,given they are not influenced by the ignorant fools,,,remember,,,let your ears do the listening,,,dont let anyone elses do it for you

Must admit that I never thought that I would spend this much on a set of home speakers BUT, these speakers sound fantastic. They have incredible range I had never heard such clear reproduction of true sound. I am not an expert but haves shopped with my fiancee for mission, paradigm, polk, and other rather high end speakers. Nuance blows them away. They are a Canadian made product (Markham Ontario) so you get a dollar for a dollar when you buy them in Canada, not paying 2.71 exchange for the british pound like when you buy mission. We thought that our Paradigm speakers and subs were good until we heard these. Get thee to an International Stereo dealer and listen to a pair. Oh yeah did I mention that there is a 10 year manufacturers warranty? Also International stereo will take them back within a year if you want to trade up to a bigger set of Nuance speakers.

I recently auditioned a pr of nuance star 2s speakers. Having a pr of Energy Veritas v2.8 at home , I always find it interesting to ck out other stuff. I have heard people say Nuance is very good , so I wanted to find out for myself. After the spiel from the salesman I was finally able to listen to the speakers. the salesman was insistant that we use his demo disc (a Q sound disc) , I was just as insistant that we used my own discs. I found the Star 2S's reasonably neutral , although the bottom end was obviously too boomy. the high end tended to be over emphized on female vocals almost shrill , imaging was good , but depth of field was lacking. The salesman was almost shocked when I asked to A-B these speakers with anything else , assuring me these were the best speakers money could buy. His price dropped almost in half which made me wonder how much markup he had ! Upon leaving , I asked for some reviews on these " world class " speakers , apparantly , there arn't any , nor could I find any other dealers to compare prices at.It would seem to me if you can't find an unbiased review nor anywhere to compare prices , buyer beware!!

Does anyone want to know how nuance can offer a 10 year unconditional warrenty with there speakers (something no other company offers)?
Could it be that nuance can replace there drivers at such a low cost to them, it doesnt matter what went wrong with them. You could stab the driver with a screwdriver and nuance will replace them over and over and over again.

Take one guess as to how much it costs nuance to replace a driver on the baby grands, or any of thier subs. Try $1.25. You could kick in the driver a hundred times befor they start to lose money.

And dont be fooled by so called "Spatial Sound" the only traks it works on are ones that were originally recorded with Q-Sound. And it will work on any speaker, even a pair of Bose. And trust me, the nuance rep is always there, i think there on the payroll of companies like soundsarround and international.

Dont buy the propaganda, take some time and have a listen to the other speakers they have, klipsch, mirage, polk, even bose. And ill bet you they wont let you listen to the traks they used in the nuance demo "eagles hotel california and madonnas vouge" he would rather slash the price in half befor he lets you listen to something else.

I've been trying to find the right speaker for ME for over 12 years. After listening to many(and i mean MANY different companies (BOSE, PAradigm, Klipeesh, polk, yamaha, spaynor, altec lansing) I started listening to Nuance speakers.
After hearing the little pitch about watts and That(im sure you guys all got that kind of stuff 2 eh) I decided to sit down for the listen.
Well the sound did seem to be 3 dimensional(even though I went to three different stores and listened TO THE SAME SONG THREE TIMES Hmmmmmm) but then i realized it was the rings around the tweeter that did that.
Anyway, (by the way i've only found TWO CD's out of my collection of a hundred or so that make the sound seem only half as three dimensional as THEIR DEMONSTARTION SONG) I was impressed, but i wanted to listen to MY MUSIC, and MY MOVIES.
I did.
SOLD
These speakers sound great, they are pricy(but you can knock the guy down to half price Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? I wonder?), but are worth it.
Listening to your favorite music doesnt get any better than with Nuance.
Hook them up with a good BRYSTON amp and enjoy.

Strength:

Exellent mid to high frequency range, nice clear bass responce, strong cabinet design,bi-wireable, bi-ampable.350 watt handling .All backed up by a no limit 10yr warranty

Weakness:

none.

I have enjoyed showing the demos for Nuance speakers, during these demos we use the best pwr. amps on the high end audio market. the amps that we use are well known. we found that Nuance sounded good on most of the amps but found the best sound remaind on mid to high priced amps. such as Conrad-Johnson, Krell, Bryston, and all were rated at 120wpc-250wpc(rms) We could not kill these speakers, overall they are a speaker for whom likes to hear clear sound at any volume, they might cost a little more than the others but in the end you are paying for quality sound and not just a name!

I am listening to all you guys bicker about Nuance
i don't know what you guys are talking about, but i've got a LIFETIME warranty on my nuance's.
these speakers are amazing!!
and on any amp, even my puny 150w /channel

you guys are just too cheap to appreciate REAL quality
and i don't think a company HAS to show you specs or company info.... (would you want to throw all of YOUR secrets out the window?)

these speakers deliver clean, crisp bass, even at high levels (not to mention the dizzing highs). i can put my fist through my driver and nuance will replace it for FREE.
Now c'mon guys... what other speaker company has enough dinero to do that?
