Buying the OM-10s was the best speaker investment I ever made. They sound exceptional for music and especially for home theatre. They have a soft and powerful radiating sound that captivates everyone - even people unfamiliar with high-end audio. The OM-6s and OM-8s are more expensive but weren't substantially better for the price that was suggested. Furthermore, the OM-10s are more aesthetically pleasing, taking a commanding presence in a room even with the sound off!
Absolutely fantastic.

After much auditioning I bought a pair of OM-10's. Although they retail for $1200 bucks you can shop around and find them for $900. If you cant find a dealer - send me an email and i can give you one. Anyway, these speakers are tight! Its a lot of speaker for the money. Since i picked them up in November '98, I've bought at least 25 new cd's. I cant believe how much more interesting music is with these speakers. Go to your nearest dealer and have a listen... you wont be disappointed.

Strength:

great detail, laid back, effortless listening

Weakness:

bass could be tighter, sub definitely needed

What a great speaker!

Went looking for front speakers last weekend, thinking i'd end up with boston acoustics, def. tech or klipsch, and ended up walking home with these, at a great price too! Here's what i found:

boston acoustics-

great speaker for the price, but the high's were a bit too high. Listening to them for extended periods of time became tedious and it felt like my ears were going to bleed. Great bass though, about where this speaker shines.

mirage frx-7-

another great speaker for the price, but it seemed like something was missing. laid back, but too laid back. found that these were on the lower end of what i was looking for in terms of sound, and the boston's were on the high end.

klipsch -

too laid back, almost sounded muffled. great for home theatre, but lacking in music for my tastes.

om-10 -

all i can say is wow! nicely laid back, very detailed sound. right in the sweet spot i was looking for(where the 950's were too high and the 7's were too low). imaging was superb, and they nicely fill the 20x20x20 room we have them in. Shines with movies and live performances, performes flawlessly with rock, rap, and techno. couldn't be happier!

I highly recommend these speakers to anyone thinking of going with some of the speakers i mentioned above. they arent too boomy with bass and leave you with a sound you WANT to listen to (very transparent and detailed). I would recommend a sub to fill in the bass, but that depends on the type of music you listen to.

Strength:

Fidelity large soundstage ue to omnipolar design

Weakness:

None
I just wish that it came with another set of midrange drivers.

One of the best loudspeakers that you can get for around 1000 - 3000 dollars. Large soundstage, clean sound, quality of build. Another strength is that it is a bi-wirable speaker for more room for improvement when wanting a speaker cabel upgrade. I would highly recomend this speaker for someone who doesnt have the money to spend thousands and thousands of dollars for other speakers. But then you have to ask yourself the question, "would spending 20,000 dollars more give me that much better of a sound." Usually the improvements that you get in those expensive models is build quality and small improvements in the sound, but nothing so overwhelmingly drastic in a change of the sound that its godlike compared to the others.

And the only thing that the Totem Staffs have over the OM-10s is a better wood finish.
Thinking that it blows it away in sound quality and having a larger sounstage is just a bunch of BS.

Strength:

Response, Soundstage presence, Mids and lows

Weakness:

Highs can be weak

I went in to buy a pair of Klipsch, heard these and was blown away at their presence, I am a big fan of the bi-polar. Have been impressed by Mirage in general. Their play has left me in the position where I will not be needing a subwoofer (anything in the $500 or less price range adds little to the overall sound these produce).

I can describe these speakers in two words: "Incredibly Seductive".I auditioned countless speakers in the $3000 Aust. price range... nothing came close to the sweet warm sound of the OM-10's. The soundtsage created through the omnipolar design is phenomenanly large and spacious. These speakers seduce you with their warm, sweet sound an envelop you in a coherant sound field I did not find in speakers more than twice their price. Its hard to put into words and articulate just how brilliant these speakers sound. I can only strongly encourage you to audition a pair ASAP. The facility for bi-wiring is fantastic with large terminals and high quality connectors. No other speaker I heard was so rich and melodic in its tonal qualities as the OM-10. They are Pure Vanilla and will draw you into their soundstage with their seductive characterisitics. They are for lack of a better word "Breathtaking". If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. I cannot reccomend these or praise them highly enough. If you are lucky enough to also own a pair... Enjoy :)
