I spent a lot of time looking into speakers in the under $1000 price range, and finally settled on Mirage FRX-7s over Paradigm Monitors and Energy eXLs. |

Strength:
Dynamics and clarity
Weakness:
No bass slam......but adequate response for most musical applications Great value per $$$ ratio....Plays most musical programs in a pleasing manner, and is unobtrusive. Not the greatest for Power Rock or Heavy Metal because of the lack of bone jarring bass, but adequate none the less. Particularly good on Rock, Jazz, Classical, and Acoustic musings...Pink Floyd, John Coltrane, Holst, and Richard Thompson sound equally at home on these speakers. They seem to have a short burn in time....about 50-60 hrs, but sound pleasing out of the box. Can be driven with as little as 10 watts, or can handle 250....Sound stage is fairly good for towers too!!! Similar Products Used: Infinity, Polk, Pinnacle |

Strength:
Very pleasing to listen to, musical, tight bass and smooth highs.
Weakness:
Odd spikes These speakers were purchased for moderate 5.1 dvd usage and for music and tv. For 5.1 surround sound we have two Mirage satelites as surrounds, and planning on getting a center channel and subwoofer. Our Denon a/v reciever takes signals for the center and outputs them to the floorstanders and mixes with the left and right front. As for the speakers themselves, movie performance is quite good, the highs are not harsh, the bass is deep and articulate but not extremely loud, but that can be a good thing. During the opening scene in "Saving Private Ryan" while on the boats and hearing shells falling around you, the bass goes directly to your chest as you can *feel* the splashes. Very cool. They can also be played loud, very loud, without sounding harsh in most cases. The only time when my ears fatigued was when I was listening to an extended loud period on "The Fragile" by NIN, but this can be expected from any speaker as distorted guitars are used copiously in this recording. Vocals are very nice and midrange has nice presence among the highs and lows. For the price, I think this speaker really gives a lot of bang for the buck. Until I can afford the $14k Revel Salons, these puppies will do quite nicely. Similar Products Used: Sony floorstanders (blech, loud but low quality) |

Strength:
excellent highs, good mids and deep bass.
Weakness:
none these speakers are excellent. I was over at my local stereo/video looking at televisions when i first heard these speakers. After i heard them and found out the price i knew i had to have the speakers. They have great bass for the size of their drivers and the highs are especially good. Overall they are an excellent speaker. If you want tons of bass you will need a sub though, i use the mirage bps-400, it's excellent too. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Ecxellent Dynamic Range, Wonderful imaging, great low freq responce.
Weakness:
short focal length, substaintial side reflection I got these speakers from a dealer friend of mine, I was not very interested in the speakers at first, but the price was so good, that I figured I couldn't pass it up. My listening space is 12x11, the surround system is made up of three B&W LM1's (excellent surround speaker) the Mirage Frx-7's for the fronts, powered by a Nakamichi AV-10. I got a great deal on the Nak as well and even though there is way to much power for both the speakers and the room size, I do have plenty of reserve power and very seldom bring the volume over a quarter. Now back to the speakers... Similar Products Used: NEAR, B&W 601's, LM1's, 602's, PSB |

Strength:
Great in both Home Theater and Music
Weakness:
None I have initially started my Home Theater system with the AVS-500 and since then I have decided to be loyal to Mirage. After a year upgraded to an FRX-One and was amazed by the musicality that after a month later I purchased the FRX-7 and placed the FRX-Ones to my rear. Great difference, now I can listen to both Music and Home Theater with close to real high-end quality!! And to think that they are only driven by an RX-V595a. If the budget permits later on, the Denon AVR-3802 might come in. As what the others have said, great speaker for the price. Mirage makes great speakers. Similar Products Used: Frx-One |

Strength:
Nice midrange and highs; surprising bass
Weakness:
none I know of I shopped around for a while at every local electronics retailer before getting these from Tweeter. The salesman tried to talk me into buying a Klipsch model, but I kept coming back to the FRX-7's; they have a really nice, smooth sound for a speaker under $1000. I heard Bose, Polk, Infinity, Yamaha, PSB, etc. speakers, and I think these are the class of the price range. Get a pair, especially if you are on a tight budget. My rating includes the great price. Strength:
Great full sound, good low end, stylish cherry finish, carpet spikes, biwire-able
Weakness:
none I recently purchased these speakers to match my Mirage FRX-Center channel and Mirage S10 subwoofer that I purchased about 6 months ago. I went with the FRX-7's because I use my system for music as well as movies and I wanted floor standing speakers. They are available in black or cherry, I went with the cherry. They look classy, the laminate is good quality, looks like solid wood. They come standard with carpet spikes and 2 sets of binding posts for bi-wiring, which is normally found on more expensive speakers. These speakers sound great! Put in a couple of classical cds and could not believe how crisp the highs were and how deep the lows were. I heard things I never heard before with my old speakers. Watched a DVD the other day and was very impressed with the staging of the sound, matched my FRX-Center perfectly. At this price you will not find another pair of speakers that can equal the performance of these puppies. |

Strength:
Not bright. Easy to listen too. Not fatiguing like many speakers.
Weakness:
Nothing at this point I wasn't really in the market for a set of speakers but Tweeter was having a two day sale. They had these for 208 each and the frx 5's for 239 a pair which I may go back and buy today. I know speakers require an adequate breakin but these sounded great right out of the box. I could have gotten a set of Klipsch 85b's for 270 a pair at the sale but they run a little bright for my taste. I am running a denon 3801 receiver with a Paradigm Studio CC center. Strength:
Clarity and value
Weakness:
none I've had these speakers for about a month, and I'm a big fan. I purchased them and the OMC-3 center at the same time because the OMC3 matches and sounds much better than the frx center. I couldn't believe how inexpensive these speakers were. I thought they were 500 each and still wanted to buy them. I listened to all the speakers in the store, and kept coming back to the mirage, even though I went into tweeter expecting to buy anything but. I strongly recomend listening to these speakers before making any decision. I felt these speakers gave a very clear, true sound as opposed to the Boston, Klipsh, etc. For these price, I really can't imagine a better speaker. |
