Strength:

Induces a dreamlike nirvana.

Weakness:

Causes obligations to be neglected, and causes the hands on my clock to move frighteningly fast.

Is it wrong to love a set of speakers? I know they are just wooden boxes with little holes cut in them, but I have fallen in love with them. My wallet loves them more than I do because for $2000 you get at least $8000 worth of sound. I have definitly listened to a set of $9000 speakers that sound better than these, but not that mutch better. At the time I asked my wife If I could sell my car, buy a used car, and then buy those $9000 speakers. She looked at me as if I completely lost my mind- and I had. I ended up waiting a few months and deciding on my M&K 750thx system with the MX105 sub instead of the V-1250. Every day I speed home, flop down into my favorite chair, kick off my shoes and just soak up the 3-D sound. The highs are clear and bright (but not too bright), the lows are deep and smooth. On my Saving Private Ryan DTS DVD, I find myself ducking bullets and gripping my chair with white knuckles. Sometimes people ask if i'm obcessed with my speakers. My reply is always "Yes I am, but at least I can admit it." I will close this review with a warning to all who are debating buying a set of M&K 750 thx speakers:
Proceed with caution, because once you get hooked on their sound, they start to hog your free time.

Strength:

Clear and precise?

Weakness:

Speakers seem a little bright (sibilance) to my ears. Can't seem to eliminate it.

Sound from movies, especially in Dolby Digital/Pro Logic is great, and music CD's are reproduced extremely accurate. Pianos sound like pianos, drums are tight and accurate, voices are a little bright (sibilance). I was even able to tune the sub cross-over by ear as a starting point. It was rather a funny story. You know beer and lots of CDs to play with. Anyway, the speakers are some of the best I have ever heard. And I did listen to many more expensive systems. I have a Denon AVR 3300 (non-THX, but 80hz crossover) and changed the sub out for a v-125 (variable crossover). This seems to give me what I was looking for. Regarding the rear surrounds, I have them reflecting off a wood wall (and on st-1 stand 53" high), so the sibilance may be due to highly reflective room acoustics. I do have echos in the room, and I did NOT notice the sibilance problem in the store. I did listen to the system for about 10 hrs and many CDs before purchasing the system. I have high ceilings and a loft type condo application. The sound fills the whole place well. Imaging is good, but I think it probably would be better in a more appropriately shaped room, but hey, that's why I chose the system I did. I did not think anything else would do as well, considering the challenges of the environment. If anyone can lend some insight to eliminating, explaining, or confirming my suspicions regarding echo and sibilance, please write me. I can live with the result, if I can explain it. This is an investment for the future, not until I can afford something else. I want performace in all areas. Digital cable is good on the movie channels and music, but sibilance is really a problem on local news stuff no matter how I tune the system. Also, do these speakers have a break-in period and get a little warmer tones?

Strength:

Everything about this speaker system is its strength

Weakness:

NONE

I absolutely love this speaker system. I bought the lcr750fronts and the lcr750center, the 1250sub and for the surrounds I got the SW-85 in wall speakers.
With CD music they are stunningly clear. With home theatre they are like thunder. I highly recommend these, go have a listen and see for yourself!!!

Strength:

This Speaker system is strong all the way around.
Size is perfect for the smallest rooms
Sound is big enough for larger rooms.

Weakness:

Difficult to place the subwoofer
To hang the surrounds from the walls, they must be hung upside down.
Definite change in tone and response if not listened to at ear level

The low profile of the system, mains and surrounds, makes them ideal for just about any room. My wife (NOT AN AUDIO ENTHUSIAST) went with me (after much pleading) to listen to them for my 5th time and despite the price, she wanted them also. That says alot. The high end is crystal clear and the V-1250 Sub reproduces incredible sound, although there seems to be a very narrow loss of bass (high end bass)compared to full sized surround speakers. This loss, however, is so narrow that the remainder of sound reproduction completely envelops you.

My system

Denon AVR 3300 reciever
Sony DVP-550 DVD/CD
M&K 750THX
Monster 10Ga speaker wire
Monster optical
Component Video connections
JVC 32" tube television

The only thing that i may have to replace in the future is upgrading to a projection television.
Once you hear these speakers, you will not want to leave home again.
I watch movies and listen to CD's about 50/50. While looking and listening, This system, in 5 channel stereo, recreates incredible CD sound, completely enveloping the room. Despite the Sub being placed to the right of the front right channel, it is non-locatable by listening. The crossover is just about at the perfect frequency to lose the location of the subwoofer.
The 10 year product warranty is incredible
