Strength:

awesome clarity, great low-end, LOUD!!!

Weakness:

way too bright.... they will make you cringe and cover your ears!!!

I believe I was rather forced into buying these speakers because everyone in the store said that these are te best out there (for their price). I guess this may be so, and if it is, I need to spend more money. I like them a good deal, but I think the only way I'd be satisfied is if I upgraded to a pair of definitive tech protower 400's. Maybe I'll own them someday as soon as I get rid of these!!!

Strength:

Awesome sound stage and clarity. Small size. Its a Klipsch.

Weakness:

None yet

Listen...the SF-1 are simply the best 2 way speakers you can buy in this price range. Period. Don't listen to the gripers. They are not looking at what these speakers were designed for...HT and then 2 channel stereo. Go and listen for yourself, you will not be sorry. I listened to many brands and none sounded so real. You'll feel like you can actually touch the people performing. They do benefit from a sub. The SF-2 sound a little better in midrange, but you'll pay about $100 more per speaker. Also, the center channel SC-1 speaker that goes with these is amazing!

Just go try these speakers, your ears won't be sorry you did.

Strength:

Small footprint, fantastic sound, thin profile, outstanding bass response. Cool Klipsch logo.

Weakness:

Only come in black.

In November of 2000, my wife and I set out to start a new HT. After auditioning many speakers including the higher end Cambridge Sound Works, JBL, Infinity, MB Quart, and Boston Acoustics, I could not convice myself to pay three or four times as much for another speaker. I never thought that I would be able to afford Klipsch speakers, so I almost didn't even look at them. Much to my surprise, they were not only affordable, but they had a thin profile, quality features, and a fantastic sound. I had planned on buying a separate sub, but I'm not sure that I need it (although I will prob. add one anyway just because the KSW10 sounds great and is just as affordable as the SF-1's).
To sum it up, just buy them. You won't regret it.

Weakness:

Way to bright. Everything sounds scratchy!...had to return them for a pair of KLF-30's.

Go to your local Klipsch dealer and listen to these speakers. Then listen to the KLF-30's.
KLF-30's rule in all catagories.

Strength:

For the money, the best sounding speaker I have ever listened to!!!!

Weakness:

This speaker kicks ass

The Klipsch SF1's rock. They are simply number 1 for their price range. Don't believe me? Go listen to them. If you dont like them, then you must have an inner ear infection or something.

Strength:

Nicely balanced output across range

Weakness:

None

Bought these (<$224 each @ Good Guys) along with SC-1, SS-1's and an SW-10 to complement a new HT setup, with a Yamaha RX-V596 receiver and a Sony DVP-S550 DVD player. Optical digital between the 550 and 596; Monster XP cable between the 596 and all speakers except the sub, which uses Monster SW cable using a Y splitter (which definitely helps).

I'm posting the review but my wife, who has perfect pitch and is a professional musician, agrees that the SF-1's are a *great* value. In this proce range, we were split between the SF-1's and the Bostons. The Bostons ran a hotter but still-crisp high range, while the SF-1's don't run hot or cool anywhere, achieving a nice balance. The Polks were very muddy and indistinct; at least it made choosing easier.

Note: SC-1 and SS-1's are also great values. Not as satisfied with the SW-10 -- it needs a high level on itself and on the 596 to rumble on DVDs like The Matrix, Aliens, True Lies (I have not tested enough with music).

Strength:

Great dynamic range. Very little power needed to drive them. Efficient 2-way design.

Weakness:

Some may find them a little "bright"

These are excellent speakers, especially when mated with the center, rears and sub from the same model line. Despite the small size of the drivers, they put out a decent amount of bass.
