Strength:

Realistic Lows. Not boomy like other similar priced products. Super clean highs. Room Filling Sound!

Weakness:

NONE

In short, these speakers are awesome! I have had the entire set of SF-1's, SC-1, and SS-1's for about 3 months now and WOW! These speakers contiually get better the more broken in they become. I am driving them with a Pioneer VSX-608 (1999 model) and about the only downfall is because of the reciever, they really need a subwoofer to get that low impact sound for movies. 2 channel stereo and DVD's really come to life with these speakers. Nothing within double the price comes close!!!!

Strength:

Everything. Very clean and strong and deep bass from a 5.5” speaker. Highs are clean, transparent and not at all shrill.

Weakness:

Made in Hope AR

Outstanding speakers for the price. $350.00 for the pair. Bought a couple of E708 Cerwin Vega and was very dissappointed with them. I was under the impression that CW was supposed to be strong in the low frequency. They are very shrill and irritating. Very poor bass. No more CW for me. Klipsch vastly superior. I bought a second pair of Klipsch SF1 and am waiting for a pair of KG 3.1’s. Run various combinations of AudioSource, Rotel and an old Sansui. I do use a pair of JBL subs at times but it’s not absolutely necessary with these Klipsch.

Strength:

Great sound stage and imaging. Nice Profile. Fills the whole room. The best speakers for Jazz music

Weakness:

Mediocre bass

I love these speakers. Hooked them up to an old Yamaha RX-V690 and a Klipsch KSW-12 subwoofer. The imaging is just phenomenal. Sometimes I swear I have my center channel is on but it's not. Sounds can be directed anywhere in the room. Left, Right, Middle, Up, Down, it's incredible. These speakers are terrific for jazz music. Feels just like a live concert. Vocals are wonderful and clear. Bass is a little lacking, with little punch, but my sub takes care of that. The lower midrange seems to be a little lacking also. Guitars sound a little distant sometimes. Highs are spectacular though. Don't get me wrong, the sound is great. Listen to Dave Mathews and you swear you are there. It's amazing. Listen to Pearl Jam and it sounds great, but it does not have the same presence with tones in the upper midrange. I highly recommend these speakers.

Strength:

Beautiful accuracy coupled with a sense of strength and musicality.

Weakness:

As far as staging and imaging, they are very touchy about placement.

These speakers are the best I've owned. I find myself enjoying whatever music is playing on them. I know no comparable speakers that treat music with the respect that these do. Unfortunatly, I'm afraid (as one other reviewer pointed out) I also do not need my powered sub anymore, the bass goes very deep but sounds tight and accurate. I personally do not get hung up on staging, but find that with these the placement of them is critical, and I'd recomend placing them further apart than one would normally. Try these speakers, you won't be sorry.

SF-2: great clarity and imaging crystal highs very strong bass

i am reviewing the SF-2 here because there is no heading for it i have only had the sf-2's for a short time... and they will change somewhat as they break-in but my initial impression of them is WOW!!! great speakers!! i got them from a local dealer who is "Klipsch authorized" here in new jersey they were floor models but in perfect condition i talked them down to $475 for the pair and they threw in a 5 year warranty for $15 !!! in my opinion these speakers are really great i love their horn brightness for the highs and with the ported dual 6.5" woofers they have abundant bass i use them with my computer and sblive card to play cd's and mp3's.... incredible sound...
i use a denon avr-85 to drive them (which i got at the same dealer for $295) and it has a really clean output with 5 channels at 85 watts each..

Strength:

Nice mid/bass, especially along side my 12" subwoofer. The horns on these things are a beautiful thing.

Weakness:

I didn't understand "a little bright" meant until I listened to these. Nothing a little tone control can't fix though.

These speakers really are great. I was all set on buying the infinity floor speakers until I heard these. For $200 less they blew the Infinity's away. I also was trying to decide between the SF-2 and the ones I got. I don't think it is really necessary. I found the SF-2 horns to be a little bit too wide (might be good if you have a really big room) and the bass was not as thick/smooth. (yes, even with two woofers in the SF-2). I think I'm going with a whole Klipsch system (SF, SS, SC -1) I also tested them against my old Bose 301s. HAHAHAH. That is all she wrote on that one.

Weakness:

Where do I put my old speakers...?

I've been looking for a good deal on these speakers for the better part of two weeks, now, and when I heard that Ken Cranes was phasing out the entire klipsch line, I had to take a good look at what they had to offer. I went to the place on Saturday and I saw that they still had a pair of floor models on clearance for $140 a piece.
Anyway, I took the advice of previous owners here on this website and jumped at the offer. I brought them home, hooked them up (they look really nice, too) and then it was total speaker bliss! I heard all of the little things in my CDs and DVDs that I've never picked up before, and besides that they belted CLEAN undistorted sound up at loud levels and also at quiet levels. When coupled with the subwoofer (after all, these are HT speakers), the synergy between them was even better than I expected (no pun intended).

Clearly, this is only the beginning. I got the matching SC-1 center on Ebay (now on the way to my house), and the SS-1s are next. Finally, I'll tell you that at $280 a pair, this SF-1 purchase is the deal of the century!

Strength:

Small footprint; big, tight, accurate sound. Legendary Klipsch efficiency.

Weakness:

None

I bought these around Christmas 1999. Having owned them almost a year now, I feel the same way as when I first got them: I love them! I didn't buy the SC-1 or SS-1 or Subwoofer, but plan to add the SC-1 and SS-1s later. In the meantime, this single pair of speakers has handled all of my home theater and music listening needs. Using a Harmon Kardon receiver and a Pioneer 333 DVD unit, these speakers proved much more realistic and accurate compared to the comparable Bostons and Infinities. I was hesitant about relying on a 6" driver (5.5?) for the bass, but was pleasantly surprised. I have absolutely no need or desire for a subwoofer. (The SF-1 is ported in the rear with a large flared port). The best part is that the slender tower cabinet takes up ver little floorspace. These speakers blow away anything costing up to $1500 a pair. I paid $400 at Good Guys. Outstanding value.

Strength:

Rich Deep Bass, Majestic Highs......

Weakness:

None

I am posting my review for the SF-2's. The only difference between the SF-2 and the SF-1 is the addition of one more 6.5inch woofer, bandwidth down to 35Hz, crossover to 2.8khz. These speakers get the job done. Beautiful reproduction of the full spectrum of music..........

Strength:

Excellent soundstage. Horn tweeter is unbelievable. Small footprint.96db sensitivity. Excellent value.

Weakness:

NONE

I just picked these speakers up at tweeter.I can honestly say that this quote comes to mind,"You don't know you have bad speakers until you get good ones." I was running infiniti SM85's in a medium sized room w/ no subwoofer(you should not need on with an 8" woofer) and was unhappy with the harshness, low volume accuracy, and soundstage of my speakers. I have been researching this purchase here on audioreview.com for about 3 months and was convinced that I would have to custom order something to satisfy my requirements as well as my wife's(she wanted a speaker NO more than 32" high so it could fit in our entertainment unit.)I was prepared to spend at least $1000. I first listen to some infinity IL10's. They sounded just like the speakers I have already. Then some boston's,mirage, etc. I could not believe the sound of the Klipsch. For rock and blues and HT, these are the speakers. I have paired them with a Velodyne CHT10 subwoofer and the combo ROCKS. I am using a mediocre Yahamaha 70 watt reciever and have yet to have to turn the volume over 4. They are extremely responsive. JUST BUY THEM YOU WONT REGRET IT!
