Strength:

Very, very good base, clean sounding, no distortion. Nicely built.

Weakness:

very heavy, hard to move around!!! :) Neighboors also complain. lol..

These speakers sound very nice, it brings music alive, can turn it up very high and it reproduces clean sound. The best sounding speakers I have heard, you can not go wrong with these speakers. Although it did take some time getting use to because of the horns, but once you do they are great. I tried many speakers before making a decision on these, Energy's, Boston Acustics,...ect. I feel like I will keep these speakers forever, even though they are discontinued, they still are some of the best sounding speakers ever. Rest of the system is a Yamaha RX-V 2095, Sony CA80ES cd player, Onkyo TA-RW 544 tape deck, Pioneer RT-1011L reel to reel, and an Energy E:XL-S 12 sub.

Strength:

Unbelievable sound. Extremely efficient.

Weakness:

Not priced for the weak at heart.

I bought these about 4 months ago. I couldn't be happier. The sound quality is incredible. Even those of my friends that don't have good ears for music pick up the fact that these speakers reproduce sound in a such a way that they hear instruments or notes that they never noticed before in songs they have heard over and over. I have a wide variety of tastes, and all music sounds good on these speakers. I strongly urge you to buy good wires and to bi-wire the speakers. The cables cost a good deal of money, but if you are going to spend over a $1000 on speakers, you might as well spend a $100 more for good wires.
Bottom line: every time I watch a movie or listen to a CD using these speakers, I smile. Best money I ever spent.

Strength:

dynamics, soundstage, bass, construction, value

Weakness:

a bit bright

I have had the KLF20's for almost a year now and agree that they are great speakers, especially for the money. I recently upgraded my integrated amp from a Creek 4330se (another great bargain) to a Mcintosh 6500. I am still in the listening process between the two amps. There is really not much of a difference between the two at higher volumes. However, you can go wrong I guess with going from 50 watts to 150 watts along with a greater power supply. I think I will keep the Mcintosh which also has bass, treble, and a loudness switch. With two small children I don't get to crank the volume as much as I would like, so the loudness switch gives you a little more oomph at lower listening levels. The treble control is nice to have too since the Klispch's came be a bit bright on some tracks. I have to give a definite 5 stars on value and 4 for overall only because I havn't audioned everything out there. I update this review after I add the sub.

My 2-channel setup:
Klipsch KLF-20's
Mcintosh 6500 integrated amp
Marantz CD6000 OSE
Onkyo Integra cassette deck (rarely used)
Audioquest Type 4+ speaker cable and Diamondback interconnects
Salamander Synergy Rack

The reason for the upgrade in amp though was that I thought I was lacking punch from the KLF20's. After listening to the different brands listed above I found that not to be the case. The Klipsh's were certainly brighter than the other brands but had better dynamics and punch, not to mention a cost of 1/2 of the other brands. I am considering adding a nice musical sub to balance out my system, like the REL Stratta or Storm.

Strength:

Loud, accurate and powerful.

Weakness:

too brite, too sensitive and take up much room.

The KLF20's are very loud and accurate speakers, but among the "brightest" speakers on the market. Any speaker over 100dB sensativity will reproduce ALL distortion and flaws from all of your supporting equipment. The compression horns on these speakers are long and compressed, thus creating a laser like effect on the sound waves. These speakers are best used in a club or concert hall, a little TOO powerful for surround sounds and casual music listening.

Strength:

Great presence. You *feel* the instruments in the room with you. I think the speaker is very balanced but revealing. This speaker will reveal problems in the source material with a glare. I have been looking for these speakers all my life! I had some Infinities that were about the same size and grew tired of the sound. I really don't expect to replace my speakers again!

Weakness:

NONE - some put Weight here, that's like saying the problem with the Sears Tower is it's so damn big! The size and weight *make* the speaker!

Do yourself a favor and listen to Klipsch speakers before you buy. If you can still find these speakers consider yourself fortunate!

Love this speaker, kicks ass especially when playing Jazz & Latin. Miles Davis never sounded so good. Mana-Unplugged makes my hair stand on its end. Coupled with the above equipment, this speaker is awesome. Very happy with it

Weakness:

same as most to damn heavy but once there in place who cares

Well all I have to say is awesome these are my first Hi end speakers and they simply rock!!!! I have them hooked to a Kenwood vr2080 and the sound is amazing. They say that the speakers sound better on hi end equipment I would love to hear these babys hooked up to some good ampage. Anyway if you want a great speaker that is built like a tank get them. And get the klfc-7 to match awsome also.
