I am writing a follow up review for two reasons. First of all I upgraded my pre-amp to an NAD C160. What a difference. It souds like someone took the blanket off of the front of the speakers. I guess I did'nt realize how much a good pre-amp can do for a system. This is a great pre-amp and is simple to use. I also upgaded my speaker cable and interconnects. I'm using Straight Wire chorus level two from the cd player to the pre-amp, and Straight Wire symphany level two from the pre-amp to the amp. This smoothed out and opened up the presentation greatly. Oh, I use Kimber's 4PR speaker cables. One of the true values in speaker cables! I can't wait to get my second Audio souce Amp 3. I plan to bridge the two which will give me 400 watts per channel.

My second reason for my update is to confess a problem I have. I find myself being more of an equipment nut than a music lover. I guess I feel the grass is always greener...
So, a friend of mine has a pair of Paragigm Studio 100s for sale. A very good speaker! I went and listened to them thinking I would sell my KLF 10s and buy these "higher end" speakers. Well I can honestly say that the 10s blow these 100s away! No dynamics, too anallytical. Great for chamber music but too laid back for Dave Mattews. My friend also has a pair of the first generation Stratus Golds. Again great speaker, better than the Paradigms, but not as open or as musical as the 10s. I guess the moral of my story is the grass is'nt always greener. Find a pair of KLF 10s match them with some good electronics and be the envy of audiophile tweeks with their multi-thousand dollar systems. Especially when they hear how your system puts their's in the chaep seats! Run, don't walk and find a pair before they're all gone.

We have recently compared Klipsch KLF10, KSF10.5, KG4.5 and Energy C6, A5+2, A3+2, A2+2 and Veritas v1.8 in the same room.
The KLF 10 is the best sounding sepakers in the three Klipsch speakers listed here. Very well defined high and mids. Reasonable bass. Very good sound stage. Compare to it, neither the KSF10.5 nor the KG4.5 has the sound stage. The KSF10.5's high is too bright compares to the KLF10. The KG4.5's mid and bass are not as well definded compares to the KLF10.

Compares to the Energy, the KLF10 is more efficient. But if you turn up the volume on the C6, the highs become very harsh. The sound stage is not as good and there is no comparision in bass. All the bipolar Ax+2 are very muddy. The Veritas v1.8 is the only Energy we like but not the price tag ($4K a pair list).

Overall, the KLF10 is good speaker with a good value. Poeple thinking buying the KSF10.5 should think hard to spent just a little more. It is a far better speakers at $1,100 than the KSF10.5 at $800 list. If you have $1,500 budget, conisder the KLF20. We brought a pair demo for $1,100 some times ago. While the KLF20 sounded better than the KLF10, the $400 differneces in list price does not bring as much an improvemnt over the $300 over the KSF 10.5. Five speakers.

I purchased the KLF 10 three weeks ago and I love these speakers. I have listened to them everyday since I bought them. Smooth Jazz and R&B comes alive with these speakers. A friend of mine has the KLF 20 and I must say that the difference in sound is not worth the extra $300.

I think that these speakers are decent, although a little overpriced. They have extended, powerful bass that really makes orchestral music shine. The treble is clear and detailed, although a little shallow. The soundstage and depth of these speakers is decent. The only real problem with them is their midrange. It is not smooth and enjoyable, but rather harsh in some frequencies, and this trait is apparent in vocal performances. IMHO, the midrange is too strident and forthright. I'm not saying that this trait is necessarily bad, just not my taste. I enjoy more layed-back vocals and midrange. These speakers are worth auditioning though.

These are my own speakers. I like them ! The only problem is the midrange frequency response. Probably the KLF 20 sounds better in the mids. The bass response is excellent and also highs are very clear. Efficiency is 98dB, overall i give it 4 speakers !

I've had my KLF 10's for over a year. I spent more than I had planned but I'm glad I did. I like the crisp highs and the solid bass, It fits my listening taste perfectly. And the efficiency! It's a given with Klipsh. I've since added a M&K MX-125 sub, the combination is sweet! If your budget can stretch to this level, give them a listen!

I've owned the KLF 10s for approx 1 year and I like them. I purchased the last pair of Light Oak finish the local dealer had and I got them for a steal at $500. I auditioned them for an extended period of time with mostly music. When purchasing, I compared them to a few pairs of Boston Acoustics and 1 pair of B&W. Also tested the Klipsch KSF 10.5s But when the dealer offered the half price deal, I couldn't refuse.
As for performance, I agree that when cranked up, they get pretty bright. I'm currently pushing them with a Denon AVR 2400 receiver though I plan to use that as a pre-amp as my Rotel RB 985 Mk II is in the mail. Again, after listening to 70's disco, house music or rap for any length of time at high volume, you may suffer a headache. But for easy listening Grover Washington, Jr. or Joe Sample, at decent volume, they're really smooth. Plenty of soundstage. Most people think my KSF C5 center channel is playing even when the Denon is in stereo mode. Vocals from my Sony 50-disc CD changer are smooth...even smoother from my Toshiba 3109 DVD/CD player.

In all, I recommend a serious audition with a full range of music. You'll notice that they recreate piano very well, but if you throw big parties and wanna rock all night, they may hurt your company's eardrums after a while (again, that may be my electronics, but I'll know that pretty soon).

The KLF 10 are great sounding speakers. I listen to R&B, Pop, and Jazz and these speakers perform very well with everyone. Teamed with my Yamaha RXV 2095 they are awesome for home theater.

Strength:

NEUTRAL SOUND WITH INCREDIBLE BASS ON TAP WITH A LITTLE TWIST OF THE BASS KNOB.

Weakness:

COULD NOT FIND IN MY AREA FOR LESS THAN MSRP

I GREATLY PREFER THE KLF 10'S OVER THE KLF 20'S. I THINK THE 10'S ARE MUCH MORE NATURAL SOUNDING THAN THE 20'S. THE 20'S JUST SEEM TO HAVE TO MUCH MIDRANGE TO ME. SOME MAY SAY THE 10'S ARE RECESSED IN THE MIDS. I THINK THEY ARE PERFECTLY NEUTRAL, NATURAL! AS FOR THE BASS BEING LESS THAN THE 20'S, NO WAY. THEY HAVE THE LOWEST FREQ. RESPONSE OF THE ENTIRE LEGEND LINE!
