Strength:

clean,crisp highs & solid lows

Weakness:

important to match with the proper electronics

All of the speakers listed above were purchased during the past year. The Legends are the best of them all. I purchased them for $600. I have tried many power/cd combos with them. In my listening space, I have found the best combo to be a 95/w Marantz with an Adcom GCD750. I feel that the Marantz tends to the warm(smooth)side, while the Adcom is quite detailed. These speakers do everything very well. I have not been able to distort them & doubt that I could without hurting myself. Many of my friends with much more invested in thier systems, have been seriously impressed with this combo & feel that it outperforms thier systems(that is a difficult thing for people to admit, exspecially if they have invested 2-10x's as much in thier own). These speakers are a steal at MSRP. I've lisened to everything I could find & feel that nothing under $4000. can touch them.

Strength:

Efficient, clear, crisp clean highs

Weakness:

may be a little "bright" for some ears and equipment combinations

Very solid speaker, particularly for the discounted prices now available. I'm a live music "nut" and these speakers can reproduce that sensation in both sheer volume and in terms of clean clear sound. They also sound full at lower, more sensible volume levels. I tend to like my high frequencies a little more pronounced than many, usually adjusting the tone controls to accomplish this. I've got my receiver set "flat" for both bass and treble and am very pleased with the sound. But if you like a more "laid back" or rolled off high end the horn tweeter may not be to your liking.

Due to damage incurred during shipping, I had to deal with Klipsch customer service. I found them to be very polite and helpful even though they weren't responsible. I've bought several items from Ubid as have many posters to this site. You can get some incredible deals from them at times, but I would suggest that you read their warranty and return policies carefully before placing a bid. 'Nuff said.

Back to the speakers. If you can get them for $800 or less a pair, I don't think you'll be disappointed. This is particularly true if you like live music and your tastes run toward rock and roll or jazz.

I have owneed a pair of klf-10 for roughly 1 year now,
I had been using an Adcom gfa-7300,
When I had the gfa-7300, the speakers seemed harsh to me,
and I had considered selling the speakers for something else, however, I decided to see what more power to the legends would do, and borrowed a Marantz mm-9000Thx, This as one of 2 significant changes, I have made, #2 being the addition of audioquest crystal II cables,
The legends sound like a completely different speaker now,
and I would reccomend naysayers to try the DC1, MM-9000, Monster m550i, Audioquest crystal Combination...
Dynamic, smooth and powerful, with none of the reputation for harhness being evident.

Strength:

Deep Bass, highs

Weakness:

Midrange

Klipsch KLF 10 are an excellent speaker for the money. Paid $750.00 could'nt find anything close to these speakers in this pric range. The Horn is excellent on hitting the high notes and the Bass pounds out,no sub needed with these speakers. Lacking the midrange the KLF 20 and 30 have. If you have not heard a pair of Klipsch KLF 10 do yourself a favor and do it soon.

I must disagree with lu's assertion that the $300 difference between a KLF 10 and KLF 20 is small. In my listening comparison the two were not even close. I found the 10 to be tinny, missing the midrange, and the bass severely lacking compared to the 20. My budget was for a 10 all the way, But after hearing the 20, I am willing to risk divorce for the extra cost.
Rating for 10's a disappointing 3

Strength:

Balanced Sound; Clarity; Power Handling; Appearance & Durability

Common complaints about harshness at higher volume and recessed mids are easily corrected with a good EQ, although I find them to have a pleasant, natural sound.

Solid construction and asthetically pleasing design. As an owner of several sets of speakers, I find nothing that compares in this price range, especially at the price that you can now pick them up for.

Don't cheat yourself on the wiring...truly sacrifices quality and richness of sound.

My System:
Receiver: Sony STR-V444ES
Pre-Amp: Sony TA-E2000ESD
CD Player: Sony CDP-CA9ES
Equilizer: Sony SEQ-711
Wiring: Monster Cable

Strength:

High's, sound clarity, price!

Weakness:

Not as much bass as the 3-way Kenwood's I was forced to use the past 10 years

I thank Peter for bringing it to my attention that these speakers could be bought for only $299 each at Costco.
I ran as quick as I could to purchase them.
These speakers are a steal for that price, thats almost 50% off retail!!!
Took a few days for the harshness to wear off on the highs, but these speakers are breaking in nicely.
Great mid's and clarity. Better than the Wharfedale's I tried out in every way.
I'm very happy I held out for Klipsch speakers. I got a great price and a great speaker.
Every person who has been by my house in the past week has noticed the big difference in sound between these and my old Kenwood's.
Only complaint so far is they can't match the bass output of the 15'' woofer's on the Kenwoods'. The house literally used to shake!
But it there is no real comparison between the klipsch and the Kenwood's otherwise.
Now I'm in the market for a subwoofer, but maybe the bass will increase while I'm saving up and the speakers break in further.
The bass is not bad, just not what I've become accustomed to.
I'm gonna try upgrading my speaker cables, from generic Monster Cables to either MIT's or Audio Quest's.
Wish me luck!

Strength:

Unsurpassed clarity and power handling. Sleek design. Quality materials to last a lifetime.

Weakness:

None yet....

These speakers I have to say are almost perfect. I run a Denon AVR-3801 which is 105 rms to each channel and the speakers can handle every bit of the wattage. They are a lot larger than I expected, but that's even better. Another bonus is the rear port. The tractix horn was everything it was worked up to be. Amazing clear highs with solid and clean lows.
Here's a tip. Buy them on Ubid.com . I bid on them and got the pair brand spanking new for $510 a pair, Shipped overnight!!! That's right they are up there all the time and my suggestion is you purchase these new while you have the chance. You won't regret it.
