Weakness:

None

I have had these speakers since 1995 and they continue to impress me and everyone who auditions them in my home. I also have an equivalent Klipsch center channel speaker to complete my front sound stage. I use an NAD amp along with a BBE Audio Restoration System (ARS) to finetune the highs and lows to my tastes. Over the years I have upgraded other components in my audio system, but I have never had the desire to upgrade these speakers!

Strength:

Great looking, rich tones and solid bass.

Weakness:

Knock pictures off walls.

These speakers sound great whether your listening to classical, jazz, heavy metal or grunge. They are very efficient and accurate so you don't need too much power to drive them though I would suggest running around 100 watts RMS through them to keep them happy. They are a top quality speaker for not a lot of $$. Good luck finding a pair.

Strength:

play clear & loud

Weakness:

none i have found

i bought these from a local pawn shop for 450.00. listened to them before i bought them, but not at loud levels. sounded great so i bought them. got them home, & played at louder volumes, the boxes would rattle with deep loud bass notes. i was very disapointed to say the least. i called a local klipsch retailer & told of the problem with the cabinets. they said never heard of that before & offered to send to klipsch. 2 weeks later i had 2 totally rebuilt 5.5's. klipsch repaired the cabinets (glue came undone on rear panel) & replaced 2 woofers & a tweeter that were partially blown. i was surprised that klipsch honored warranty work, even though i was a second or third owner. very pleased with klipsch as a company, & even more pleased with the performance of my newly rebuit speakers.
have yet to find a better speaker for anywhere near their msrp price, let alone my pawn shop price! highly recomended if you can find them.

Strength:

Bass!!!, looks good

Weakness:

horn tweeter can be harsh with wrong amp

This speaker can provide enough bass for music and movies without using a subwoofer. The receiver or amp you match this speaker with is very important, the horn tweeter can be very harsh with cheap equipment. If paired with the right amp this speaker can produce more bass and sound than any home speaker in its price range.

I've had these speakers for about two years and I am still as excited when I listen to them as I was when I first heard them in the dealers sound room. The have a very unique sound that is excellent with all types of music. They are refined enought to give classical music a beautiful sound and dynamic enough to bust your ear drumms while still being crystal clear. A remarkable pair of speakers I intend to keep my pair for a very long time. I'm using them now with a new Pioneer vsx-27tx dolby digital receiver and these speakers sound great for home theater and for stereo music. They're hard to find now but definitely worth looking for.

Strength:

Highs, Lows and everyhting in between. Highly efficient. Lively.

Weakness:

Bulky.

I have the KG5.5 for more than 3years now and still loved it's performance. The KG5.5 was original bought to be used for stereo listening purposes. Now that THX, DD and DTS are here to stay, the KG 5.5 becomes an awesome performer. IT sounds good playing all sorts of music not to mention DTS formats. I have to find a better matching center channel for the KG5.5 just because it perform so well. I am using KV3 and maybe the KV4 if I can find them.

Strength:

Awesome overall sound. Great for home theater. Great Bang for the buck.

Weakness:

None that i can hear.

As much as i do love these speakers they are a little to big for the family room in the house i just moved into. So i regret to say that i do have to sell them. I will be replacing them with a smaller Klipsch speaker and a sub in a home theater application. So if you or anyone you know want to STEAL a great pair of speakers please email me at alvaincomes@aol.com. I will send you more info.
Its a sad day for me to say the least. When the time comes for me to go out and find another pair of 5.5s im sure i will have trouble getting my hands on another pair. Oh well, my loss your gain.

I have always owned Klipsch speakers and unless i ever have over $2000 to spend on another pair, KLIPSCH speakers are by far the best speaker you can get for under the $2000 range.

Well if you crank up the power to high they will make a poping sound

Man I love these speakers. And to think I wasn't going to buy them. I went into the store to purchase the Klipsch 3.5 for my rear channel. As the saleman was showing me the 3.5 A man came into the store screaming and yelling somthing about he waned
his money back. So I payed him no atention and looked at the
3.5 the saleman said he'll be right back I said ok When he came back he offer me the pair the man had just brought back
I told him I can afford that right now. He said I'll give you a deal on them. I said no way I know how much they go for. He played them for me and I was hooked but still I knew my buget thinking about the 3.5 and trying to stick to my buget I was
think don't let this guy sale you something you don't want.
By then a different salesman was showing the 5.5's to another customer he played them him and again the sound was great I knew then I had to have them but by now so did the other guy. I went to find my salesman and whipped out the old credit card and brought the best speakers I ever own in my life. If you are think of buying the KG 5.5 you can't go wrong you'll be just as happy as I am. If you can still find them. Good luck oh buy them them in the oak finish
