I purchased a pair of these for $398.00 after auditioning competing Polks, ARs and some other godforsaken brand I can't recall at the moment. They were a no-brainer over the others. That is not to say they are all that impressive as is. The bass can be lacking, and they are overly bright on some material. For their price, they are very dynamic. (helped by the high sensitivity rating, no doubt) The "sweet spot" in terms of imaging seems rather small on the vertical axis. They are adequate, but not spectacular for home theatre. I disagree that there are many speakers in this range that are far better-all speakers in this price range are compromised but the Klipsch less so than most others. The four star rating is based on value, certainly not absolute fidelity.
The real reason I bought them was that, when balanced with a 12" inch Klipsch subwoofer at the store, they sounded far better. Now if I can just scrape together the cash to actually buy the subwoofer........

The 3.5's are a great value, and can't be beat if you can pick them up for a reasonable price. Anyone who paid over $600 for these or any other 2 way entry level floor standing speaker have a nice speaker but paid too much. I guess as car salesmen say, there's an ass for every seat. These speakers are bright, and do benefit from a sub backing them up, just as ANY 2 way system with a 8" driver would. Overall they perform with an outstanding dynamic range for thier size and cost, and require little power to drive them (94 sbl). They perform well as a front or rear channel surround, and can provide good listening in regular stereo mode. They don't sound like a set of Corwalls with 200 per channel running to them, but they kick ass in the family they were designed to compete in.

Can't get much better for the price. The horn has very detailed uppermidrange/treble. You hear so many subtleties like in headphones with these.
Perfect if your into metal and industrial but it is also great for
any other musical style too. Lows are suprisingly good for an 8" speaker
although I might add a sub when I get the money then it will be perfect.
BTW im using a 1970's technics 60w per channel amp to drive these and it is
louder than I could ever stand. The overall sound is very 'live'.
Some might complain that the horn is too harsh but its not to me.
DEFENETLY audition these.

I found these speakers to be an exceptional value for their price range.Even though these are low end for klipsch they clearly out perform most other brands in the same price range. The highs are crisp and well defined and they produce surprisingly rich rolling bass.I can only imagine what they must sound like with a subwoofer.Although these may not be the greatest speakers in the world i would highly recomend them to anyone who is a casual listener to an audio enthusiast.

I purchased this pair to be use as the rear/surround speakers. As a curiosity, I hook them up my system( Harman Kardon Signature Series preamp. and amp.) as front speakers. I was suprise how compose these speakers are. The music is more livelier with wide soundstage and the bass was quite competent. Not to shabby for speaker of this size. I got these speakers for $300 as a discontinued products. I strongly recommended if you are using them as rear speakers or using them as main speakers in a small to medium room.

Strength:

great sounding speaker, price

Weakness:

none so far in the 2+ years I've owned them

For the price (300.00 a pair) I could not pass on these speakers. I expected a lot from these speakers, as they were my first Klpsch purchase, and I have not been disapointed. Great sounding speakers!

Apart from a remarkably high sensitivity rating and a big bullet-proof looking build, these speakers are a bit of a let down. Sure, these guys play loud but in terms of fidelity, I do not think they deliver the goods. Bass extension is decent, but midrange seem suffocated and highs harsh. Maybe I wouldn't go as far as my salesman by saying they're almost PA speakers, but I dare say they do not justify their over $600 price tag. There are countless other speakers which outperform the 3.5's in terms of value and sound. Unless you intend to buy a pair of speakers which allow you to brag "My speakers have a 94dB/m rating!! What's yours?", these guys aren't worth it.

Whoever says that speakers are speakers and that they all sound the same, then one should look into the 3.5's. They are not the best speakers in the world, yet they do produce very vivid highs, using Klipsch's horn tweeter technology, and relatively smooth lows, with thier 8' woofers. The cabinetry comes in either light oak, dark oak, or black with a cloth grille. The speaker connetion terminals are gold plated and fitted for Banana Plugs, Pins, and just about anything else. The 3.5's are a great set of speakers for the fronts of home theater setups, however, even though there are those 8'er's, I would still get that powered sub for the extra punch. The horn tweeters of the package, do exceptionally well for sudden highs as they are very quick in response as apposed to more traditional tweets. I would recommend these speakers for the casual to enthusiast levels of listening but for audiophile fanatics look into something else. But again, that is my opinion. As a basic rule of thumb, "Someone's likes, can be another's dislikes."

Strength:

For the money- NONE!!

Weakness:

A bit less overall full sound than my former Cerwin Vega AT-12's

They sound great and look even better in the black cabinets. Fit in nicely with the rest of my system- Akia surrouns sound receiver and JVC Disk Player. Good, crisp, clean sound and not too harsh even when the music is bass dominated. Not as efficient power handling wise as my Cerwin Vegas but for the money I paid, the look and sound I am not complaining.
