Strength:

Voices sound very live, "present" in room. Nice imaging. Incredible low end. Reveal details in recordings that were previously unsuspected.

Extremely efficient.

Weakness:

VERY bright in my living room (hardwood floors, thin drapes, no rugs. Mellowed out nicely with addition of 10-band EQ. Black veneer finish. Dominate living room.

Best $300 I ever spent. My wife spotted these at a garage sale in a swank part of town, and I hesitated (almost too long), because I had no way to audition them before getting them home. But when I did, I was in for a real treat. These are even better (if possible) than the KG-4's, which I owned at the time.

These reveal incredible detail in recordings, convey feeling of being at live performance. As stated above, these are _bright_ speakers, almost too harsh in my living room without modification. On my EQ, I've got -3dB cuts at 2kHz, 8kHz, and 16 kHZ, and a -6 dB cut at 4kHz, and that makes them really mellow. If they sound bright in my next living room (will have to move within a year or two), may try Dynamat on mid-ranges.

I may install threaded inserts in the sides so I can temporarily install handles for ease (?) of schlepping to the back yard, etc.

If you can get these for under a grand (assuming they're in decent shape) jump on them! You won't be sorry. If you can't swing it, try and pick up a pair of KG-4's (which won't dominate the landscape) - currently ~250 dollars on eBay. Those are just as accurate, without the brightness (or the low end, alas). But I hear my old ones in my friend's living room and they knock me out.

I would give them 4.5 stars if I could for "Overall", because of their need for modification.

KG-4's (just about perfect, but not quite enough low end)
Polk Monitor 10 Series II (fair to good)

These speakers are the one thing in my home-theaterstereo system that will NEVER be replaced! Suffice to say, to my ears, IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!!! 5 STARS

I spent amost 6 months shopping for home speakers before settling on the Klipsch Chorus 2, listened to every make and model I could find in My home state and north louisiana. I still remember the first time I heard the Kilpsch. The salesman went through the same routine I had been thourgh at the other places playing my cds and showing me the different models. At that point I was sold they were great speakers but what really blew me away was after a bit he told me to take my time and listen to them for a while and he would be back. He then showed me the amp tone controls were set to flat ! I bought these 5 years ago and everyone I know that comes over is impressed by the full clean sound. They are an excellent speaker with a spl rating of 102 db requiring very little power to get big sound.

Weakness:

Minor - Size and weight, but still very nice.

I drove 290 miles to get my well cared for babies. Once I got them home, connected and had my first session, I was pleasantly rewarded as this Cheshire Cat look enveloped my entire face. The sound was simply a joy; I felt it just enveloped me. I could hear far more details in all instruments, piano and acoustic guitar notes were definitely more pronounced. Voices were displayed with far more clarity. The bass is just exceptional, no subwoofer needed with most recordings. I echo the same sentiments as the previous reviewers, "clarity, deep bass, sharp, power and range". Not much more can be said other than if you can get an exceptional pair of well care for Chorus II's and you have the room for them, do it! You will not be disappointed.

Correction. The sentence:

"Although that couldn't be a 1,000 Watts for just a fraction of a second at a time."

Should have read:

"Although that couldn't be a 1,000 Watts for more than just a fraction of a second at a time."

Strength:

Tight, solid, detailed bass!!!Crystal clear mids and highs!!!

Weakness:

Might be just a hair on the bright side for some listeners. Very reveiling, so bad recordings sound BAD!!!

I have owned these Chorus II's for 4 years now. I love these speakers. I can't beleive how tight and detailed the the 15 inch bass driver is. It's usually hard to get super tight bass out of a 15 inch driver! The midrange and treble are crystal clear and detailed as well. Midrange with female vocals or acoustic guitar is unbeleivable. I guess it has something to do with what is connected to it. I have a Krell 300i integrated amp (known for excellent bass) and a Sony SCD777ES SACD player. The SACD player is new and let me tell you---BUY a SACD player now!!!! The sound is incredible through these speakers. The Sony also plays regular CD's like I've never heard them. I've been listening to my CD's all over again hearing sounds I didn't know were there. The Sony list is $3499.00.
I paid $1750.00 at Tweeter Etc. These speakers play loud real easily and never sound strained, they beg for more volume! No sub neccessary. I even had the Tweeter guy come to my house to listen to my system and he couldn't beleive how awsome it sounded. He thinks the Chorus II's sound better than the newer Klipsch models. He couldn't believe the bass either. I recently Listened to some Vienna Acoustic Beethoven speakers. They sounded nice, the midrange and treble sounds were really sweet, but the bass, even when connected to a Rel sub, didn't even compare to the Chorus II's. If you're looking for great speakers, try to find a pair of these. You listen, you decide!!!!!

Strength:

Outstanding detail,Drums do actually sound like drums,Great bass,Nice imaging and Price

Weakness:

Large(If you want to call that a weakness)

Just an amazing speaker to listen to. Works well with all different styles of music. Have listened to many speakers and nothing makes me feel like being there like these chorus II's. And as far as if you like to listen to drums these are unbelieveable. Dont know how anyone who has owned these or listened to these could give them anything but a five star rating. Put a pair of these in your corners and power them up with some of your favorite music and watch them disappear.
