Strength:

Great sounding sats, with comp powered sub

Weakness:

not many but midrange could be a little better

Really enjoy this pacjage. Sats are real crisp and sounds very good with music or home theater. Got this package from UBID for less than a 100.00 and feel like I got a steal. Looking hard for the movies 2 package to go along with the music 2 package. Money well spent. Receive a rating of 5.00 because fo price and the performance of product.

Strength:

Small fottprint, great sound

Weakness:

bass unit is heavy

Bass unit has a small footprint as it stands straight up but the two relatively small 5 1/4" dirvers in the sub enclosure are driven by a 100W amp. This systems delivers BASS. I am using two sets (4 sats and two sub units) for my home theater and it sounds tremendous. I got these for $220 a set online and feel they are a tremedous value. The sats put out the mids and highs authoritatively and the fronts sit at an optimum height mounted on my Music2 stands. I look forward to turning this system on every time. The HT is capped with a Yamaha 595 and even though the amp might be light on watts, the speakers do not require that much power. Since the 595 is a good clean amp, the Music2's do stay very clear and crisp at hgiher levels and the bass powerful but not boomy.

Strength:

Clarity, tight bass, size and value

Weakness:

A little coloration towards the high end

Beatiful sound across the spectrum. The subwoofers may begin to fade towards the lower (-50Hz) levels but stay sharp and tight for the most part. The tweeter and dual mid project well and place the music right out in front. The set has good power handling capabilites and maintains its clarity right up to its RMS of 120W with a good amp. Considering I paid $500 for these almost three years ago, I have loved every bit of music I have played on these. If you can still find them, I highly recommend them as they are a tremendous value. I don't know why JBL discontinued these, but Razor's statement below is making me wonder...

Strength:

Brilliant Highs, Out-in-Front Vocals and Tight, Powerful Bass, very compact bass unit.

Weakness:

Still working on that one.

Bought three of these sets to use the Sats at front, rear and center. Using two dual-subwoofer units behind my television (in a corner). Each sub unit has two subwoofer drivers sitting on top of a 100 Watt amp wih low-level inputs. Coupled with my Denon AVR-1800, this system is amazing. I had RUSH's "Subdivisions" so loud that my ears had to adjust for a few minutes afterwards, yet it was clear as a bell with the bass tight, yet shaking my walls. The forward presence of the satellites is amazing. I'll always hold a grudge against Harman Kardon for making JBL stop production of these so they could rape the JBL name with high profit margins on relatively lacking new JBL products. These are very efficient speakers and I highly recommend them if you can find them. I have one complete set in a box (unopened) and another set with one satellite and the sub. These components would make an excellent L,R, Center combo with two 100W powered subs units for a total of four subwoofers (all tuck behind a TV in the corner!). All you need is rears! E-Mail me for info.

Weak sub, satellites lack midrange

Well I bought these speakers bout 5 years ago. I didn't really know what quality audio was back then. At the time they looked nice and were very affordable, so I gave em a shot. After years of listening to them and listening to many other systems I've concluded these Movies 2 and Music 2 speaker systems aren't all that great. The sub is very weak. Alot of port noise is audible when its turned up to a decent level. I think smooth bass is fine with it but once you do the pounding fast bass the sub can't handle it. The problem might be that it's lacking a lowpass crossover or a steep slope crossover. I notice voice is audible through the subs. The satellites sound really dead. Not much detail in music. Depth of the music is not really perceptible. No I am not bashing the other reviewers here, but if you really listen and notice... It is really what i state. Good thing bout the system are... they're pretty affordable and they look very stylish. I even have the stands for them. =) I power these with a VSX-D3S Pioneer Reciever.

I got these cheap too ($134 + shipping at ubid.com) and am pretty happy for the amount of $ I spent. I am no audiophile (too poor) but think these speakers sound pretty good. The sats are clean and have decent midrange and the sub seems pretty tight. The only problem I have is that the ports on the sub like to make a strange humming sound. You can only notice the flaw if you get up really close to the sub, something an ordinary listener will not ever do anyway. Overall a good value and ubid.com is great- fast and as advertised.

This setup is purely awesome! I have it set up to my H/K AVR55 and these speakers just sing clear as hell! plenty of clean, undistorted bass from the sub and the satelites are fantastic! Easily beats Bose crap for the same retail price! Excellent for an apartment or jsut as a starter until you're ready for $1,000 a piece Definitive Audio or other HI-end speaker...
Easy five stars for performance, especially when you can get them from Audio Deals for $150 refubished (repacked) with a full 5 year waranty!

Bought 2 sets of these babies and hooked them up as rear and front effect speakers on a Yamaha 2095 (7 channel). They are really bright and clear and could actually be used as primarys! Bought them at auction so I feel I got more than I paid for and am really happy with'em. The rest of my system is:Toshiba 55" TV
Toshiba 2109 DVD
Yamaha 2095 Rec.
JBL L 100 mains
JBL PSW D112 sub
JBL Center 2
and.....2 sets of Music 2.

These are great home theater speakers. I have two Music 2 systems and another Music 2 satellite speaker for the center channel. Using the dual subwoofers really helped the low end for movie watching since each sub is using only two 5 1/4" drivers. For music the satellites tend to lack midrange punch due to their small 3 1/2" midrange drivers but the subwoofer's crossover of 120hz helps the little drivers out. I have them mounted on Bose Am stands and I think the whole package sounds great and looks very futuristic. I would recommend to any one who wants a step up from the home theater in box but doesn't want to invest $1000's.
