I hit this site last year and called Costco headquarter to order 2 pairs from their Florida warehouse (I was lucky enough to find the very few left). The boxes were damaged when they came home and the speakers were dented but the sound has been greaaaaat!!!! Infinity must put some more boxes (double) like JBL does to its products. If anybody has to order it, pls ask the vendor to have it double boxed. As to the sound, it's simply purrrrrfect!!! I've never regretted the extra shipping cost....

I was selling my SM155's on EBAY because I thought I needed a "higher end" main pair. The highest bidder emailed me after the auction ended and said he accidently bidded on the "wrong auction". THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was having terrible sellers regret. I took the speakers back upstairs and listened to them again and fell in love again. They are great speakers with huge bass. In fact the bass is so great, that I turn down the bass knob on the speaker and will supplement my system with a subwoofer so that I can get true Dolby Digital 5:1 sound with my new system. They are a little boomy, but if only that person from Sweden (below) would have left his email- I could reconstruct these to get a cleaner sound.

i have owned my infinity speakers for about three years now and i have to say they only get better with age. my main music preference is heavy metal and these speakers definitely SLAM!!!!!!the bass is subwoofer quality and the midrange and treble aren't
too bad either. i only paid $600 for the pair and that's the
best $600 i've probably ever spent. i had been considering
replacing them with a pair of definitive bp 30's, but after
hearing those, i think i'll stick with my infinitys. i mean,
why spend well over a thousand dollars when i've already got a
far superior pair of speakers?

ps too bad your rating scale only goes to five stars, i would
definitely give these speakers a well deserved TEN !!!!!!

Strength:

Beautiful, "big" sound. Chest thumping bass.

Weakness:

Haven't found any in 12 years of listening to these monsters.

Bought these in 1988 from Crutchfield. They had free delivery then. These speakers rock out! The sound is fantastic. They are very detailed. When I hooked them up, I heard details in some of the music I'd been listening to for years, that I'd never heard before. Every time I listen to them, I can't believe how good they sound. The small speaker systems that are popular today, just don't cut it. A lot of them sound like crap (Bose Acoustimass, etc) These are big heavy speakers, and they will dominate a room. I use a NAD 2200 power amp, and with a good CD, it sounds like a live band is in the room with me. I'll never get rid of them.

Weakness:

polycell tweeters are not good for accurate treble sounds reproduction

SM 155 loudspeakers has very good bass response without distortion, medium sounds are smooth reproduced .

Polycell tweters sounds like a paper made cones tweeters ,the treble sounds are dull (compared with both metallic and some polymer tweeters that reproduces life-like sounds).

SM 155 are suitable for home theatre but no for critical music listening.

SM 155 efficiency is very high (102dB/1W/M), an intense sound level can be get with modest amplifiers, this is nice for ultra high quality amplifiers with low output power in order to listen music a real performing levels.

Strength:

awsome sound,bass and detail

I have has these speakers for a few years now. I bought them on base when i was in the Marines. They sound great. Everyone that came over and heard them said they were a bad azz pair of speakers. I was planning on going with kappas a few years back but for what? These speakers sound so good it isnt even needed. After reading all these reviews it makes me wanna pick up a second pair for the rear. I have submitted a few reviews here but i have to say these really deserve 5 stars. Great bargain and far better then you can imagine. Do yourself a favor and put a pair in your living room or listening room, you will never regret it.

I bought these speakers from the Harmon KArdon outlet for $300 for the pair. Using a denon avr2400 these speakers are efficient put lack the pure power to pound like they could. Its best to run a power amp on them seperatly. The efficiency is the best attribute. Combined with the SM 65 for rears and an sm video for the center, this setup will sound good even with low wattage. Just make sure you have a good sub if you lack power to listen to loud music. For $300 you can not beet the quality.

These speakers are just GREAT!!! They sound SUPERB, at loud volumes but also at low volumes. Would never trade them!!!Only one remark, when the play loud, the speakers like to go for a walk (they slide away, because of the bass)... :)
